The Republican ‘party of no’ trap.

The money would then go in tax credits to the least well off and expand free community college education.

The Republicans who control both houses are dismissive.

Senator Orrin Hatch said the plan appeared to be more about redistribution and class warfare.

And certainly the Republicans have the power to vote these proposals down.

But here’s the trap: Democrats would like nothing more than the Republicans to be perceived as the “party of no” – rejecting plans to help the 99% of Americans.

President Obama is in his final two years of office and has fought his last election.

This state of the Union speech is about burnishing his legacy – but also framing the terms of debate for the next presidential election

question is are the boneless dems hearing the framing?

Wish someone could explain to me
      1. why the dems didn’t have PBO front & center at the last election
      2. How the GOP could ever win an election with this guy as President

And I guess it relates to the media working overtime for the RWNJs – supporting idiots so they can look superior

People never know what good they have – until it is gone

I thought Brad’s comment was hilarious. Haters are gonna hate so just in case they (haters) were missing anything the first time…POTUS said it a second time. Now, let the healing begin.

I loved it. hahahahahahaahahaha My hope is that Brad was joking and if not he should be deemed a whiner.

    Awesome collection for tonight Nerdy!

Just sent the top one to f&f for a laugh. Why didn’t I think of that?

O.k. folks, I hate to leave the TOD party tonight, but I have to fold clothes, eat and go to bed early so I can get my tire fixed tomorrow.

    Love to all!

Roger Simon writes a trite essay. While he’s not the worst of the media in this he’s definitely part of the problem by trivializing the President’s thoughts.

Mitt Romney have some dam nerve. The American people have told him twice that they didn’t want him as their President, but Mitt refuse to listen to us. He think the White House is owed to him and Ann. It’s their birth right. Three strikes and you are out Mitt. So let me speak about another loser tonight, how the hell did that Ernst woman win in Iowa? I have to wonder about the people of Iowa.

Every time I retweet from TOD, I’m getting a Twitter suggestion to follow this “@null.” WTF?!?!?…. I’m tired of Twitter trying to shove @null down my throat…

  17. January 20, 2015 at 11:56 pm

Nerdy Wonka: your tweets of the speech in the moment were magnificent. Incredible and worthy. Shared the jewels widely with the world, on time. And these, wonderful. The one that nearly caused me to fall out of my chair snorting and hooting with laughter? “….We won World War II…” Oh mercy.

i call b.s. on joni “loves cha-ching” bread bags story. i lived a portion of my childhood in a snowy winter climate. my mom used plastic bags on the *inside* of our boots, over the socks only, since you still want the traction of the boot sole, but keep your socks and feet dry when you got to school. if you put the bag over the boot, as joni suggested, you’d be slipping and sliding constantly. wouldn’t work. since she’s a republican, it’s not a surprise she would be lying about this, and everything for that matter.

Yes it was inapppropriate but more importantly it was a lie. Joni Ernst was born in 1970, which makes her 44 going on 45. She probably started school between 1975-1976. Let’s say she started usng bread bags at age 10, That would mean 1980-1981. They had programs as early as the seventies to help needy children. She could have gotten shoes from any number of social welfare clubs, Kwanis, Elks, Eastern Star or social welfare programs like Goodwill or Salvation Army. It’s probably a story her mother told her about her own childhood. Bottom line? Ernst is lying.

Yup, idon, I think you’re right about that. I didn’t listen to her but from Twitter I understand she said she wore the bread bags on the outside which is insane – no one did that. So she got her mother’s story wrong.

This is unbelievable! Alabama Dekalb County School Superintendent Hugh Taykir denied transportation for history club that wanted to attend showing of SELMA because of profanity. School is predominantly black. Now mind you, Hugh probably comes from a long line of KLANNIES who used some of this same profanity on a regular basis to refer to African Americans, in addition to the cross burning, terrorizing blacks attempting to register to vote, and the lynchings. This is racist George Wallace’s Alabama http://www.democraticunderground.com/10026103727

Good Wednesday morning TOD.. smilin’ my way through this day 🙂 Thank you President Obama!
