Thanks for the laughs, NW. You’re always there for TOD and for President Obama. BTW I think I laughed the longest over @NoticablyBacon’s twitter handle.

Thanks, muscatinegal, for posting the link to the Des Moines Register article about PBO visiting Iowa next week.

Since Iowa’s Governor is a Republican, it got me to thinking… There are 29 Republican Governors in the US and 52 weeks in the year. PBO can pwn every one of them in 2015, LOL. πŸ™‚

    From the article:
“Broadband is also one of Republican Gov. Terry Branstad’s top initiatives for the upcoming session of the Iowa Legislature, although a proposal he backed failed to pass in the statehouse last year. Obama’s visit will fall a day after Branstad formally unveils his revamped “Connect Every Acre” plan, which would offer incentives aimed at ensuring Iowa farmers have mobile broadband access in fields where they run increasingly high-tech agricultural machinery.”

PBO doesn’t bluff, and is an open book (meaning there is no need for MSM “speculation” about what the President says — PBO says what he means, and means what he says).

Don’t forget this 2014 MMM (of mine) — PBO answers by saying “support International investment to rural America, provide high-speed broadband to all rural areas”:

Toddler great grandson was just pointing at my globe, had his finger on North America, and said, “Somebody lives there.” I said, “Who?” He said, “Barack Bobamo.”

Thought I’d cry for a bit there. Ha!

99ts! I was back a way scanning all the posts I had missed when I was in migraine, sure were plenty – 😦 And saw your comment about downsizing and how hard it is: yes, I am sorry to agree, it is not only hard, but can be painful in some ways. Let me remind you and Mr99, tho, even if you can do a box a week, or two boxes, you will be so glad you did when the final stretch faces you. I had 6 weeks to clear out a 4 bedroom, two story home we had rented for almost 25 years, where I raised my daughter – and we were not even packrats (well, she kinda was). I did frequent clean outs and giveaways, charities will come right to your door. In the end, once it’s all done, I will console you by saying it is really a RELIEF, and find myself wondering why I had so much stuff then, and still have too much now! But it’s all here in a one bedder, so it can be managed – with no stairs! πŸ™‚ Good luck, keep it up, give Mr99 my regards and a pat on the back, you guys can do it!! ❀ ❀

          Hello MightyP

There is no doubt about the Mars/Venus thing in our household. I like to be organised and ahead of time – Mr 99 does nothing until the last minute. So yesterday we had the “discussion” that if he left it to the last minute (as he wants to) I would be a cot case & quite useless to help – and we would probably get divorced – cause I would move out.

So little steps it is – wish me luck!

Finally…………………………..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I caught up with you all!
I cannot believe I have not wished anyone “Merry Christmas” “Happy New Year” … TOD is crazy! So much to read…so little time.

I must say I still have not heard anything about the NAACP Bombing. If it was not for TOD/Twitter, I would not know a thing!

Chips, I caught a few drops of the snow (while catching up)!
NW…love, love, love the laughs and tonight’s especially…. The Mayo! Racoon with the cat and birthday had me in tears! Thanks for the laugh. AMK…love the bulging eyes! I looked like that when I first read the tweet!

One more note…our President is going to kick some A**!! I like Arapaho415 thoughts on the President going to the 29 states who have GOP Governors.

Good night all…see you on the flip!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, Marlz!

It is indeed a challenge to keep up — I’m usually hopelessly behind, and reply to people in the middle of the night east coast time.

The FBI had a news conference yesterday when everything seemed to be happening at once — France President Hollande news conference and President Obama/VP Biden/Dr. Jill Biden’s announcement in Knoxville TN.

  22. January 10, 2015 at 10:08 pm

Remember my sharing 2-3 weeks ago about my back and forth on FB w/husband’s former boss & longtime family friend. He thinks police are never wrong, that all the protests are bad and they are all violent, etc. And, he’s all about right vs. wrong in the protests and the actions of the police. Earlier tonight I finally had time to respond to his last message (last weekend). I’ve been collecting links and making notes so I could respond. Many of those links & some comments are from here at TOD. Sent him 8 links–from Clive Bundy ‘event’ (and I asked some questions about that—-white supremists pointing guns at federal agents, the 2 people who killed the two cops in LV, latest video about Tamir Rice’s sister being attacked. One was from here earlier–the AA cop who lost her job and pension. Repeat EIGHT links & said I could send many more. Got a response few minutes ago. First line: “Assuming that what has been written is totally true……I’m really a cynic and don’t believe what the media tells us….” Next: “The point is you can’t change the wrong thing from being done by doing the wrong thing……can’t teach respect by being disrespectful……you’re only justifying “bad behavior”. And then this: “If you want to see another civil war in this country burn a few more buildings, do more looting, kill a few more police and watch what happens.”

Since he brought up cynicism, my response was: Cynicism is a choice. Hope is a better choice. Get this: His response: “Love them platitudes. I am surprised that you condone viiolence and insurrection and not turning the other cheek.”

WOW! Can we say “Projecting.” One thing is for sure: I wasted a lot of time doing all those links because obviously he didn’t really read any of them. Obvious also that he is a Fox watcher and probably a Rush (or some of the other right-wingers) listener.

Thanks for letting me share. I’m done. Wasted way too much time on this. He is filled with hate and fear and cynicism.

    • January 10, 2015 at 10:47 pm

TnMtngirl..you cannot make a person see what they do not want to see…besides it becomes a matter of pride sometimes to admit that they maybe wrong…it also challenges their belief systems…and for some folks they would not know what to do if what they have believed all their lives came crashing down around them…

This won’t make a difference to your Facebook friend/hubby’s former boss because it’s written by that well-known bleeding-heart liberal @NickKristof, but thought I’d send it your way:

Hate to bring bad news. But so many wackos of all sorts out there!

MOSCOW, Idaho β€” Police say a gunman killed three people and critically wounded another during a spree at three locations in Moscow, Idaho.

The suspect, 29-year-old John Lee, was captured Saturday afternoon following a high-speed chase in Washington state.

According to police, Lee killed his adoptive mother before heading to Northwest Mutual life insurance and shooting two men, one of whom died at Pullman Regional Medical Center.

The shooter then drove to Arby’s and asked for the manager. When she appeared, he opened fire. The manager died at the Moscow hospital.

He then fled in a vehicle that crashed into a ditch north of Colfax, Washington. Lee was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries before he was booked into the Whitman County Jail.

So sad. So much sadness and heartache. OTOH: Here’s another wonderful story from PO’s visit yesterday. It’s a young teacher (AA) who voted for PO, never dreaming he would get to meet him! πŸ™‚ Great story. Should make you smile.

top headline at bloomberg news website is US RETAKES THE HELM OF THE GLOBAL ECONOMY

‘ The U.S. has pulled ahead of other industrial nations partly because its policy-making has been better, according to Paul Mortimer-Lee, chief economist for North America at BNP Paribas in New York.

European Central Bank President Mario Draghi and his colleagues are still weighing whether they should buy government bonds to fight off the danger of deflation — a step that the Federal Reserve first took back in 2009.

U.S. budget policy also has been more effective than the euro region’s austerity strategy, which undercut the continent’s economy, Mortimer-Lee added. ‘

    good evening toddies
just got around to reading this piece by krugman– i think you’ll find it worth the read.

‘ Who gets cited by, say, Republican governors seeking authority for their tax cuts, or published on a regular basis on conservative opinion pages? I’d say Stephen Moore and Arthur Laffer. No point in looking them up on Google Scholar, although Laffer does show up, marginally, for a 1971 paper co-authored with Eugene Fama.

And it’s not as if Moore and Laffer are guys who may lack academic cred but have proved themselves as working analysts. On the contrary, they’re guys who can’t even cook numbers without screwing up, who have spent years telling us to get ready for soaring interest and inflation rates. But it doesn’t matter; being right is not what they’re paid for. ‘

    http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/01/10/where-are-the-friedmans-of-yesteryear/?module=BlogPost-Title&version=Blog%20Main&contentCollection=Opinion&action=Click&pgtype=Blogs&region=Body
