Thanks, Chips:) The day is finally here!! What a cutie…the baby AND the President:) I just woke up…I felt like I cat napped all night, waking up to look at the clock through the night, like missing the alarm was even an option. Honestly. Doors open at 8am…that’s 10 EST and I’ll try like the dickins to get as close as I can…I’m just going to see where the day takes me! Just honored and happy to be there with him…hear more goodness to help people with their homes, or buying a new one. Good stuff.

I’ll probably come home and try and nap. I took the day off work, but I still have to tutor tonight…and of course, I will be here to tell of you how the magical day went! Feels like I’m 4 and it’s Christmas 🙂

    • January 8, 2015 at 6:46 am

Oh heck, I could hug ya, your excitement is the sweetest thing ever!! Have an absolutely wonderful day DF, can’t wait to hear how it all went!

Df, you’ve really helped us all to feel part of this big day and I can’t thank you enough for that. We’re all walking in your shoes as you go through that door and will be by your side (in spirit) every minute because when any of us gets a chance to see our great president, we all do. Can’t wait to hear your report! I have a feeling you’ll be wide awake through the event, despite your sketchy sleep, but you may feel tempted to nap during your tutoring session tonight.

    Good Thursday, Chipsticks…TOD Family!

Dangerously cold this morning. Everyone stay warm and toasty.

    • 26 jackiegrumbacher
      January 8, 2015 at 7:43 am

SW, dangerous is an understatement. We’re being warned to spend little time outdoors to protect ourselves from the killer weather. I’ve lived in this state for 14 years now and I have never seen it this cold. I suspect a lot of cabin fever is on the agenda for many families forced to stay indoors.

      • January 8, 2015 at 7:47 am

With the wind chill, we are in single and minus temperatures. Schools in this area were not cancelled so I hope students didn’t have to wait long for the buses…and I hope that the heat in the schools are functioning — especially in the older buildings. Definitely, the coldest I can remember.

        GM JackieG,

I heard on the radio yesterday about a tragic crash on a Pennsylvania interstate highway. Didn’t catch the location, but it sounded like it was caused because of weather conditions.

Had no idea that this is the coldest it’s been this century, especially because last year’s polar vortex sounded like once-in-a-lifetime cold temps.

Hope you’ll be able to stay home today, safe and warm. ((( JackieG )))

I’m in Central Illinois, so I like to call it “log cabin fever.” Mornin’. Stay toasty!

    Good morning TOD!
    Hi ya Ms. Chips!
DF, I am so excited for you!
I cannot wait for you to share every second of your adventure today.
Have fun, bend your knees if standing, drink water…..you know the drill.
Enjoy every minute for yourself and us here.
    You cannot stop smiling, right?

Right!! 🙂 I’ll be fine…and I’ll be the “Roving Reporter” today…and do a damn sight better job at it than the ones that get a paycheck. Just sayin’.

I have no doubt that you’ll be a thousand times better than the WHPC. You’ll give us real reporting, not the GOP/KOCH biases.

        • January 8, 2015 at 7:59 am

Of course, the WHPC/Media is looking for a moment — a word or phrase — to home in on; a sound bite that will be *their* only take away from the event.

  10. January 8, 2015 at 8:35 am

  11. January 8, 2015 at 8:58 am

Did they give you any instructions on access to the school, etc.? No doubt roads will be blocked. I was thinking that I would just drive by on my way to work but maybe that can’t happen. My son went to Central High and it faces Central so I would assume that part of the North/South access will be closed off and limited access on East/West would be limited. DF I will be thinking of you. Have a super day!

GM Chips and TOD. Can’t believe it has been four years since that awful tragedy happened.

      • January 8, 2015 at 9:06 am

Morning COS, really can’t believe it either, it seems like just a year ago.

        GM COS, Chips,

I’m acutely aware of this anniversary, since this is the birthday of one of my best friends.

Before this happened he would volunteer that he was born on Elvis’ birthday. Now a much more recent event is associated with today’s date.

I remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news, mid-morning on a Saturday. Glued to twitter, shocked and grieved by the reports of Gabby’s “death,” outraged at the psychopath who had done this, etc. Far, far too many similar feelings since then (e.g., Newton CT, Oslo Norway, Aurora CO, etc.).

Heartbreaking that Congress has done nothing to stem this American epidemic, way more deadly than Ebola here.

Arapaho, this may only be a Middle Atlantic state, but it’s bitter cold and I am not smiling. Going outside for anything is an ordeal and, as usual, that is making me grumpy.

This is rich. Put it under the heading, Conservatives Blame Women for All Problems. Here’s a cardinal who blames feminism and the introduction of altar girls for the decline in male priests. According to his ’eminence,’ it was better in the old days when women knew their place and didn’t ‘threaten’ men with their wicked ways. I wonder how many centuries it will take before the Catholic hierarchy realizes that they have a vast pool of potential priests in women. They will probably have to do down to the last priest standing before the light bulb goes on. And then it will be too late.

I heard a brief — and I emphasize *brief* — on GMA this morning….that was after the lengthier lead in about the Paris shootings, and of course, the weather.

  20. January 8, 2015 at 9:30 am

BTW….Congrats Chipsticks on reaching another milestone…29,000,000 hits and climbing!!! 😀 An indication of the quality of this website, your efforts, and the positive impact of you, NW, the bt’s, and all the contributors to this site.

    Thank You!!!

Don’t worry, so did I and you know how important it is for me to record those milestones. It is quite brisk in Chicago this morning. -7 with wind chill -20 to -25. Invigorating weather.

We are currently dog sitting my sister’s dog while she and her spouse are cruising the Caribbean for two weeks. A little ShiPoo that we have nicknamed the “Flying Shag Carpet”. One thing this is doing is convincing us we no longer have the energy for another dog. She is cute (at times)but has way too much energy for us.

I see PBO’s ratings are 51/47 approval/disapproval at Rasmussen. Glad to see the MSM reporting this.

      What is “collapsing AC?”

Proof that our MSM is a huge problem, since they thing think their job is to promote flamboyance and “report” on gaffes. They either don’t report, or dismiss actions by pols that have a direct (negative) impact on the pol’s constituents.

      GM NCLB.

      From the article…
“Anti-vaccine beliefs are particularly prevalent in Disneyland’s home state. People in California — and especially left-wing parents in Los Angeles’ wealthy school districts — are opting to waive their children’s vaccination requirements in rising numbers. Doctors in those areas are now receiving more training about how to convince parents to make different choices.”

Limousine liberals with their emoprog (i.e., greed) mentality.

Wikipedia says the MMR vaccine was developed in 1971, so my generation wasn’t able to be immunized against measles.
