That’s about right, because when vote in gun nuts to run your state’s government you end up with this sort of thing. I think they should take it a step further and take all the history books away and give all the kids a year’s subscription to “Guns and Ammo” magazine.

Outgoing Postal Chief’s Advice: End Pensions, Overhaul Feds’ Health Care
    By Eric Katz
    January 6, 2015

Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe is ending his 39-year career at the U.S. Postal Service next month, and he has some advice for those he is leaving behind in the federal government: do away with pensions.

In a farewell speech reflecting on his career long service with USPS, the embattled Donahoe, who announced his retirement in November, said he hoped the cash-strapped Postal Service would serve as a breeding ground for initiatives that can later be expanded to all federal agencies.

“I would encourage Congress to view the Postal Service as a test bed or laboratory of change that might be applied to the rest of the federal government,” Donahoe said at his speech in Washington Tuesday. “When we look at the workforce we’ll need in 20 or 30 years, what we are doing today will have to evolve.”

57, I work for the federal government, I see guys like this every day. They hate the government but they aren’t about to give up their government job, oh hell no. They come to work every morning mad; they act as though someone is forcing them to work for the feds. Every time they come my way with that bullshit I tell them to go work in the private sector since they hate the government so much, crickets follow. In my fifteen years I have never seen one of these motherfuckers leave for the private sector.

The nine justices of the Supreme Court, who opted in October not to take up the issue of state bans on gay marriage, are set to meet behind closed doors on Friday to consider once again whether to hear any cases on the contentious issue.

The court has five cases pending concerning same-sex marriage prohibitions in Ohio, Tennessee, Michigan, Kentucky and Louisiana.

The legal issue is whether the state bans violate the U.S. Constitution’s guarantee of equal protection under the law.

File this under ” nobrainer “

Why is my kitten obsessed with water and all things white ?

My female just can’t stop herself from playing in the water dish… hunting down anything white, mostly toilet paper , then dipping it in the water and running around the house with a wet soggy mess leaving marks all over everything.

    I thought cats hated water.

    • January 8, 2015 at 4:27 pm

Some have personality disorder–liking water. 🙂 We had a cat that loved water, loved, loved. Drove us crazy. We always said, “Thank God there’s only one Boo.” She was definitely one of a kind.

    • January 8, 2015 at 4:28 pm

Hello Linda. I have no idea why your kitty likes water but it is a myth that all cats hate water. Some loooove water and love playing in it. As far as loving all things white and hunting down things…..this is what kittens/cats do. They will grow out of hunting down and unraveling toilet paper in a few years so what I do is remove it from their sight but make it accessible like putting it high out of reach or in the bathroom cabinet. Good luck with your kitten. I have three kittens and a senior kitty. Everything is a toy to them, toilet paper, paper clips, card board, cell phone charger, telephone cords, electrical cords, etc.,

My kitty (15 now) has always loved water. She would jump over the side of the tub after the shower stopped to drink the drips from the tap. After I read a book about the wild cats of Greece, we built her a fountain using an aquarium pump and hose, and forever after she would decline the water in bowls in favor of the flowing water. Yes, it had to be changed and cleaned regularly, but it was not a chore.

New video depicts Cleveland police officers assaulting a 14-year-old girl moments after they fatally shot her 12-year-old brother, Tamir Rice. The video, obtained by the Northeast Ohio Media Group, shows that police “forced Tamir Rice’s 14-year-old sister to the ground, handcuffed her and placed in the back of a Cleveland police car steps away from her wounded 12-year-old brother.”

On the Dkos they have a post about the police officer who shot Tamir Rice of how he was fired from another Ohio police department and how he applied for other police departments and was turned down before he was hired by Cleveland. He even thought about applying for NYPD. The police office that shot Tamir was clearly mentally unstable and too immature that he was fired from Independence, OH police department. Why in the hell would Cleveland PD hire him? Obviously because he is white.

Linda, I heard on Thom Hartman’s show that one of the brothers was so angry during Bush/Cheney’s war in Iraq that he tried to fly from France to Iraq to join in the fight against Americans. He was stopped at the airport in France and was convicted and put in prison for eighteen months. France knew about this guy and should have been watching him all along.

Old Tape of Scott Walker Talking About David Duke Shows He Has Always Been a Fruitcake!

In 1992, David Duke, a former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, was seeking to be put on the presidential ballot in Wisconsin. As this was an embarassment for the Republican party, they sought to block Duke from the ballot. Scott Walker was working for the Republican Party of Wisconsin at the time and appeared with Duke on Milwaukee Public Television’s “Smith & Company” to discuss the matter.

So, seems like an easy gig, right? Go on the show, condemn Duke as an extremist, racist, nut job and say his views aren’t representative of the Republican Party.

Instead, Walker went on the show and made a point of saying that he was condemning Duke for his past involement in the KKK and not for “issues” he was then bringing-up. In fact, Walker went out of way to say that issues Duke was talking were not extreme, saying:

The distinction we’re making is not one of saying his issues are extreme, they certainly are not.

Allow me to remind you who we’re talking about: David Freakin’ Duke! Trying to find something that he is saying that is not extreme or legitimate is extremely difficult task, which makes Walker’s qualified condemnation of Duke all the more absurd and troubling.

So what are some of the post-KKK Duke “issues” that Walker says are not extreme?
        **

The video is gone, but this was on daily kos in March of 2011.

John Boehner Throws A Fit Over President Obama’s Threat To Veto Republican Bills

Boehner signaled his unhappiness early in his remarks, “These measures would also provide President Obama a chance to begin the final years of his presidency by taking some steps to build a stronger economy, Unfortunately, the president’s been taking steps towards more confrontation rather than bipartisan cooperation on jobs. Earlier in the week, literally as we were taking our oaths of office, for this new Congress the White House threatened to veto two of these bipartisan bills. Given the chance to start with a burst of bipartisan productivity, the president turned his back on the American people’s priorities.”

Later, the Speaker of the House was asked if the Democrats where really obstructing because he already knew where the president stood on Keystone XL and Obamacare. Boehner responded with a tantrum, “Well, the president, you know, at a minimum, he could have waited a few hours, or even a few days. We were taking our oaths of office when they were issuing veto threats. C’mon.”

Boehner was tantruming because reality is starting to set in. Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader McConnell believed that President Obama and the Democrats were going to roll over and let them do whatever they wanted. It was ironic of Boehner to complain that Obama issued his veto threats quickly when it was Republicans who met on inauguration night in 2009 to discuss how they could gridlock the Congress and obstruct President Obama.

Fox Host: How Do We Spot ‘Bad Guys’ If We Don’t Know ‘Tone Of Their Skin’?

Fox News anchor Shannon Bream on Wednesday pondered how observers would’ve known that the gunmen who perpetuated the terrorist attack on French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo were bad guys if they didn’t know what their skin color was.

“That’s my question about these guys because if we know they were speaking unaccented French and they had, you know, ski masks on, do we even know what color they were,” Bream said. “What the tone of their skin was. I mean what if they didn’t look like typical bad guys?’
