How many Republicans are on AF1 with POTUS as he go talk about the recovery of the automotive sector? Oh that’s right none of them supported the bailout of the automotive sector, did they?

NONE OF THE REPUGNANTS SUPPORT PBO…BUT ‘THE EQUALIZER’ WILL DO JUST FINE WITHOUT THEM,,,HE KNOWS HOW TO DRIVE!…WATCHING…:)

      • January 7, 2015 at 3:51 pm

I know (NONE), Zero of the Republicans supported what the President did for the auto industry. They wanted the industry to go under.

          • January 7, 2015 at 4:10 pm

They wanted this President to fail, remember what their King Rush Limbaugh said. As Rev. Sharpton said these Republicans wanted the ship to sink just so they could get that black captain. They didn’t lift a finger to help put this economy back on the right path, it was all President Obama and the Democrats who put this economy back on the right path.

I WILL NEVER EVER FORGET HOW EXCITED I WAS TO WORK SENATOR OBAMA’S CAMPAIGN…WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE HIS GRACE AND INTEGRITY IN THE WHITEHOUSE…THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER ONE..PLEASE .PASS THE KLEENEX!

BTW (if you’re in the northeast or Midwest, please disregard πŸ˜‰ ), the local radio anchor @knx1070 said “today is Wednesday, July 7th… er January 7th… and his co-anchor quickly piped in with “it feels like Summer outside…”).

Way too warm for January — it was over 60F this morning before sunrise, and our “normal” January low temps are in the low 40s, high 30s range.

Forus, today I met with a group of Dems and one of them said he was starting to worry about what a Republican Congress was going to do to the country, the key word being “starting.” Democrat always seem to wake up after it’s too late to make a difference.

jg, that is so typical, right? They seem to be so clueless about things any of us would know on a political micro and macro scale. And it doesn’t help that only a small minority of them have any backbone. I’m not sure the GOP is any smarter; they used to march in lockstep and have their talking points down cold. Now there are too many nutcases to keep things in order and I think Boehner is both lazy and dumb.

Sen. Corker’s previous job was Mayor of Chatanooga. Maybe someone can explain to me how this qualifies you to lead a Foreign Relations Committee. I will hazard a guess that there are large military sales companies in TN.

He was elected in 2006…..with that deceptive ad against Harold Ford…….GOP gave him that assignment in 2007.

      • January 7, 2015 at 5:40 pm

Oh good Lord. I’ve been keeping our Dec. 26 paper….waiting to share the lead story: “A ‘complicated’ relationship–meaning between PO and Senators Alexander and Corker. Talks about how they’ve played golf together and dined with him at a fancy restaurant and also called him the worst president in modern history. Talks about how n their new positions, they will have to work closely with the President’s aides and cabinet secretaries. Lots of negative examples……how PO is difficult to work with, etc. Here’s a direct quote by Alexander: “The problem with the WH is they seem to have no capacity for crafting a consensus, for making a deal. I’ve spent most of the last six years wondering if they don’t know how. There’s never been a clumsier WH in dealing with members of the Senate, whether Democrats or Republicans.” That quote sums up the entire (long) article. Also includes criticism of John Kerry and you guessed it, Eric Holder.

I kept recalling our late pastor who was Corker’s pastor in Chattanooga and Steve’s saying he wrote Corker THREE letters in the first 2-3 years of PO’s administration, encouraging him to be a true statesman……said it was a wonderful opportunity to do the right thing–for the country and himself. As Steve said, obviously his message to Corker did not work.

Vicki, we have OAK RIDGE here. That is BIG, HUGE and double or triple that. I mean HUUUUUUGGGGGGEEEEE! Don’t know if that is why Corker has this chairmanship or not. And as far as climate change and environment issues go, having the Great Smoky Mountains here is also HUGE and helps to keep both senators a little more on the ‘sane’ side of those issues. It is by far the most visited national park year after year after year and believe me, they want to keep it that way. Tourism is HUGE, especially here in the eastern part of the state.

Our country mayor is Republican, of course. But, he is very pragmatic and insightful and fair and reasonable. I actually like him and he has done a good job. He spoke very nice and welcoming about PO’s upcoming visit. I kept thinking that our senators and many others could sure take a lesson from him in simply doing the right thing.

PBO stressing that you shouldn’t believe the doom and gloom the media gives you. The USA is coming back, no matter what you hear on TV.

Also, I thought PBO looked rested and refreshed and seemed to be enjoying himself.

Republicans in Congress are wasting no time following through on the anti-abortion agenda the GOP laid out after winning significant gains in the 2014 midterm elections.

On Tuesday, the very first day of the 114th Congress, two lawmakers introduced a measure to ban abortions after 20 weeks, in direct violation of the protections afforded under Roe v. Wade. Reps. Trent Franks (R-AZ) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) reintroduced the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, the same legislation that successfully passed the House last year.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) β€” who introduced a companion 20-week abortion ban in the Senate last year that was stalled by Democratic leadership β€” has already indicated that he plans to re-introduce his own measure in the next few weeks, too.

    http://thinkprogress.org/health/2015/01/07/3608821/congress-20-week-abortion/

I guess McConnell is under some kind of delusion he will 60 votes for this.

    Wahhh…

Man, memories at The New York Times sure are short. Completely lost are the last, long six years of Republican bitterness and unprecedented obstruction. You know, the days when the Times editorial board wrote:

Senate Republicans have refused to allow confirmation votes on dozens of perfectly qualified candidates nominated by President Obama for government positions. They tried to nullify entire federal agencies by denying them leaders. They abused Senate rules past the point of tolerance or responsibility.

What do we get from their reporters now?

WASHINGTON β€” Democrats were adjusting grudgingly to their new and reduced role in the Senate on Wednesday, displaying some surliness and a lot of suspicion, saying they would not be silent or passive players in the new Republican-controlled Congress.

In so quickly assuming the role of the aggressors on only the second day of the new session, Democrats struck a discordant tone when compared with Republican pleas for greater bipartisan cooperation.
