And the news for ISIS continues to be bad. The GOP is saying Damn Obama, because they can’t stand that he is right and they are wrong.

    • January 6, 2015 at 7:20 pm

Major battles during the past ~ 12 hours in the Kobane area plus a steady expansion of attacks on DAESH throughout numerous areas of Iraq reveals a steadily increasing level of coordination among numerous allies, Iraqi military, Peshmerga and ‘others,’ John. And, yes, we’ve noticed a precipitous drop in #NEWSTAINER (and GOP) ISISgasms since late October because of the reality that DEASH is getting clobbered.

Amazing how little you hear about this from the US media now that IS is being pushed back. Republicans told us it was going to take massive US ground forces to accomplish this.

This is freaking 2015 for crying out loud. The hate some white people have for Black people is mind boggling.

Nerdy, I don’t know what evil poison has seeped into the US to cause so much hate to rise to the surface. I wonder if the massive protests frightened some people and caused them to feel threatened. This kind of destructive crap is often the sign of desperation and fear.

Wish someone would remind the WHpresscorps that PBO has a larger mandate to govern than the Repubs do and that they should occasionally phrase their questions with that truth in mind.

We really need to simplify this ‘trickely downy thingy’ (as Chips might label it) once and for all – especially for the ~ 34% of Americans (mostly white and always afraid of something) who vote for GOP (i.e., vote entirely against their own best interests).

When I state simple, I mean really simple ….

This collection of newsworthy bits, (presented to us by Nerdy) sets a standard for relevance within its limited structure so terrific that it deserves an award. So grateful for the nightly updates, Nerdy.

Connected? Today there were 53 political prisoners freed by Cuba and US lets it be known that two more groups of detainees will be leaving Guantanamo in the next 2 weeks.

Connected? Iran+5 nuclear talks re-convene in Geneva on January 18 and POTUS will be giving his State of The Union speech on January 20.

Connected? GOP squawking loudly that their first vote will be Keystone and Press Secretary says that vote if it reaches PBO’s desk will be vetoed.

At this rate what will tomorrow bring?

    //………………………
Here are her [Director Ava DuVernay’s] full remarks:

I think everyone sees history through their own lens and I don’t begrudge anyone from wanting to see what they want to see. This is what I see, this is what we see. And that should be valid. I’m not gonna argue history. I could, but I won’t. I’m just gonna say that my voice, David’s voice, the voice of all the artists that gathered to do this, [and] Paramount Pictures which allows us to amplify this story to the world, [are] really focused on issues of justice and dignity. And for this to be I think reduced—reduced is really what all this is—to one talking point of a small contingent of people who don’t like one thing, I think is unfortunate, because this film is a celebration of people, a celebration of people who gathered to lift their voices, black, white, otherwise, all classes, nationalities, faiths, to do something amazing. And if there’s anything that we should be talking about in terms of legacy, it is really the destruction of the legacy of the Voting Rights Act and the fact that that very act is no more in the way that it should be protecting all voices to be able to be heard and participate in the electoral process. That is at risk right now. There’s been violence done to that act that we chronicle its creation in our film. So I would just invite people to keep their eyes on the prize and really focus on the beautiful positives of the film. And that was our intention.

Excellent, wide-ranging tweets, NW. Once again you’ve outdone yourself. Thank you for finding and posting such great info.

I think it was PF58 who linked to @smartypants60, who expects the “War on Drugs” fallout to be corrected in the fourth quarter of President Obama’s Administration:

just reminded me of how many hot-spots the president is managing at any given moment. soon he’ll be checking this mess of his to-do list.

‘ A man claiming to be a senior commander in the notorious rebel movement the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) has been taken into custody by US forces.

The man, who identified himself as Dominic Ongwen, surrendered in the Central African Republic (CAR), the US State Department says.

Ongwen is wanted by the International Criminal Court on suspicion of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

He is considered by some to be a deputy commander to LRA chief Joseph Kony. ‘

We should start a running list that we can add to for all the good things this administration has done in these 6 years that the Republicans said NO to…..might be helpful when they start claiming credit for all the things they didn’t do that are working for the American people!!

    • 85 jackiegrumbacher
      January 6, 2015 at 9:56 pm

Df. I honestly can’t think of a single thing the Republicans said yes to in the last six years. You could probably list every one of the president’s long list of accomplishments and write Republican NO beside each one.

I’m thinking you’re probably correct. When their main objective is to oppose and deny PBO ( how’d THAT work out.! Morons.) As long as they have no interest in compromise and governing, the People need to see what they’ve be doing….or NOT doing. This next couple years should be devoted to exposing the RW for the cretins they are.
