Morning, JackieG! So nice to run into you so early!

    • December 26, 2014 at 7:54 am

Goooooooood morning Jackie! I have decided I will never eat or drink wine again, ever – apart from that, it was a perfect day. I hope yours was too?

It was perfect, Chips, although I practically had to be scooped into bed last night, I was so exhausted. Everybody had fun and everyone was happy, so who could ask for anything more.

Funny, I didn’t think we were at the same festivities, but we came away with the same resolve. Like Soul mates, eh, matey? (Sheesh – here it is a-hem half past twelve in some areas, and MP is only finding her way into the tangled webz now…. Oh well!) ❀ 🐻

Morning/Greetings, TODobots! You ready for a couple rounds of boxing?

Yo, Most Benevolent Shopper and Sovereign! Are your feet fully recovered from the beating they took a couple of days ago? I did notice last night that your spying eyes worked just fine, but was too zonked myself to check on the health of your feet. IOW, what’s up Ms Shopper, and were the recipients pleased? πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

Morning, VC. I’ve always like the idea of Boxing Day, even though it had its origins in a world where people had ‘servants.’ It really should be a day of service to others, but Americans are so obsessed with shopping, it’s just another sales and bargains day for most. Hope you had a great Christmas.

Returning BD to a day of service would be such a terrific idea! In fact, although we don’t technically (generally) have servants, it would be an ideal opportunity to re-gift some of the ‘much’ that many received and don’t/won’t use to others who might not have received anything/much.

Chips! The snowdrops are coming faster, AND THERE ARE SOME FAT ONES, which means moving them from side to side is more fun! In fact, they dance now when you jiggle them. This is 😎 πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    • December 26, 2014 at 8:08 am

VC, my snowdrops are exactly the same, do you have a computer issue?

Tried to move them around the First Couple, but having no more luck than in this:

        December 26, 2014 at 8:23 am

Computer issue? I don’t *think* so (unless it’s in high performance mode because it received an entire day’s rest)! I did a Christmas eve sleepover at one set of cousins, AND restrained myself enough not to take it with me. πŸ˜€

ICYMI – I *am* enjoying the fatter, faster flakes. πŸ˜€

Just realized that today is the Feast of St. Stephen of “Good King Wenceslas” fame, which means the saintly king was performing his act of charity and service on Boxing Day! I’ve always loved that old carol, but modern US churches have changed the lyrics to meaningless, sappy ones. I hate when that happens.

I’m with Amk. —-> Why is it still snowing?

This is torture. I have seen the Mac rainbow swirly ball more times since this snow appeared than ever before. Christmas is over. Please gods, let this snow end.

If you want snow, TOD; it is sold everywhere. Google “fake snow.” Buy it. Pour it over your head. Yay….snow!

My MIL has been volunteering in the prison for 40 years and helps teach life skills and provide counseling to men who are incarcerated for years or life. The group she works with gives each prisoner a little Christmas package that includes, toothpaste, toothbrush, small bar of soap and a peppermint patty. This year, one of the prisoners told my MIL how much that gift meant to him because he has no family and it’s the only present he receives. Little things truly do mean a lot to some people.

    • December 26, 2014 at 8:23 am

Hello Jackie! I loved your poem!

What a brave and generous person your MIL is.

I hope there’s a group that helps prisoners get on their feet once they are released. So many would like to change their lives around, but without a support group and little or no means to support themselves, they are often faced with the choice of starving or turning to petty crime or con artistry.

We as a society need to do more for the longterm future of the “least among us.”

Very early west coast ‘Morning’, Arapaho!

An informative ‘read’ for what’s been happening in prisons (and the help [not] available to turn your life around) is Bryan Stevenson’s ‘Just Mercy’. If you haven’t yet, you should consider adding it to your reading list.

        December 26, 2014 at 9:01 am

Arapaho, there are people who help and my MIL knows all of them. If there are any family members, the transition out of prison is a whole lot easier than those who are alone. It’s a very, very mean world on the streets.

    • December 26, 2014 at 8:32 am

Yes it does! I started a project called Cozy Scarves 4 the Needy and because of the kindness of strangers. We were able to donate 101 scarves to a local women/children’s shelter. Each scarf was tied with a ribbon. Many were crocheted. The children loved the bright colors. Sometimes it is not the gift but value that it conveys.

GM all. For some, today is actually the 1st day of Christmas so I would like to give everyone a partridge in a pear tree. I would like to, but yesterday basically emptied the bank account. Some day we might learn not to spoil the grandkids, but I doubt it will be any time soon.

    Good morning all at TOD.

Paul Krugman has done it again!! Another terrific column about the strength of PBO and his administration this year in spite of the bile and lies being spewn about by the propaganda networks.
If someone wants to link it the title is “Tidings of Comfort.” Things that went better than you think.
Final sentence, “Nobody knows it, but 2014 was the year of ‘Yes, We can.’

TOD certainly Does know it, Prof. Krugman, but thank you for spreading the news!

Good morning all………glad you’re all so chipper. Our grandkids come today…..so I’ll be happily busy for two days!!! Our son wrote that their daughter woke them up at 2 a.m. yesterday morning announcing that Santa had come! So, they opened their presents and went back to bed about 4:00. I remember those days……all of our presents were opened before it got light!!!

Yes, I remember those days as well. Then the boys became teenagers and we would have to get them out of bed. But it gave my wife and I a little quiet time in the morning.
Talking with the eldest yesterday, it was obvious his kids were up nice and early. Sweet payback.

Good Morning my Chips and TOD family. A lovely chill on the morning on the west coast, but sun and brightness is ever present on this glorious day after Christmas. Mercy, I had a lovely day. Contact calls, texts, and photos came in from my loving family members, and they all are doing great. A beautiful surprise from the most wonderful brother, so my heart is fine knowing that he is great and safe during great things. A lovely and grateful time.

I took a little glass of wine while listening to some holiday music and lighting every candle in the house, but soon I was in a delightful tip toe mood; and it was wonderful. When the sips of wine kicked in, sleep land came knocking, but it was too early to shut and click the security button, so I read a little and brother called in the guards to see what was going on. It was funny because one had to explain with a cute smile on his face that I had opened the wine and a little more was out of the bottle than was in the bottle. So I forgot to click the button. Heck, at that point I forgot where the darn clicker was. Thank goodness for the” young interventions” for the golden agers. It was fun , and I am okay.

I will stay quiet today and enjoy the wind and the lovely morning. I hope everyone will have a beautiful day of just doing what you enjoy doing and try to rest, relax, and share some loving moments with those you love. Our President and First Lady look very lovely and relax. Oh, we are so blessed to have them. Keep keeping his back. He will continue to need our help. So enjoy each day and be ready to rock and roll for 2015.

I love you all so dearly. Chips and all of the beautiful contributors, thank you for another lovely season of love and caring from the TOD family.
Donna, give the twins my love. Those who are lurking, I love you also. Miss Pat, love you. HZ
