2014: 99ts’ Most Memorable Moments

by 99ts

Living down under there is really one moment that outshone the rest in 2014 – the visit of PBO to Brisbane. It became memorable in many ways, some due to family events of that same weekend, he gave us calm when it was much needed – but the best of the best was PBO flying over our house. I’m sure I saw him checking it out.

AF1 magnified as best we could – it was a long way away

MarineOne flying over our house – heading to the RAAF base Amberley

Two Copters – to confuse

AF1 heading North East of us – to the Pacific and on to Hawaii

And a lovely Christmas to you sjterrid – seeing the airplanes was the closest we could get – but Mr 99 excelled with the photo taking 🙂

Have to watch those Koalas JoB – they have some rather bad habits – but they wouldn’t dare to do that to the leader of the free world! 🙂

    • December 23, 2014 at 11:42 pm

Merry Christmas, 99ts! I really love the way you, and many of your fellow Australians, warmly welcomed President Obama to your country.

A global arms trade treaty regulating the multibillion-dollar business has come into force – a move hailed as “a new chapter” by UN chief Ban Ki-moon.

He said he hoped the treaty would help prevent the transfer of weapons to “warlords, human rights abusers, terrorists and criminal organisations”.

The deal also bans arms supplies if this promotes war crimes or genocide.

So far 60 nations have ratified the accord, but not the US – the world’s top arms exporter.

Washington signed the agreement in 2013, but now it requires approval by the Senate, where opposition is believed to be strong.

Other major weapons traders – like China, Russia, India and Pakistan – are yet to put their signatures under the deal.

Off I go…didn’t sleep well last night. Went to the Dr. yesterday thinking I might have strep…turns out it’s allergies and nasal drip that makes me feel like I have razor blades in my throat…and the fact that I cough so hard…well, you get the idea. Off i go. Thanks, 99ts and Chips and vc and arapaho for all the goodness today:)

I wish that Arpaio would get arrested.

    • 45 jacquelineoboomer
      December 24, 2014 at 12:30 am

Can’t wait to see Arpaio in a pink jumpsuit one of these days, sleeping outside in a tent in the desert. Guarded, night and day.

      • December 24, 2014 at 1:00 am

JOB, Arpaio should definitely be in “a pink,” or orange jumpsuit. It’s racists like him who tarnish the image of law enforcement folks. Arpaio reminds me of the 1960s’ Birmingham’s Bull O’Conner.

        • 47 jacquelineoboomer
          December 24, 2014 at 1:49 am

Definitely. And I used “pink” because I think that racist was the one who ordered pink prison wear to further demean the human beings under his watch, wasn’t he? And set up the tents in the hot sun. May he rot in … well, I won’t finish that because it’s Christmas Eve!

    Great memories, 99ts.

    Thanks for compiling them, Chiparoo.

Twitter was made for nights like this; people tweeting their 2014 faves.

Chuckle on, good people. Chuckle on.

I like you, white people, but you have no rhythm. 🙂

PBO was wearing this ring way back in college (check out the Library photo). I wonder what’s the back story???

And now it’s his wedding band. Faithful all the time.

    Thanks, 99ts.

Loved PBO’s Asia trip, and loved the local Aussie media coverage of PBO in Brisbane. Their excitement was contagious.

Such a gorgeous area, hospitable people.

Thanks for sharing your photos of AF1 and Marine One in your neck of the woods.

Great speech by PBO, will have lasting impact on Australia and all nations as we make progress against climate change.

99…enjoyed your best of 2014. You had a view few others had.

I have been watching more Australian TV via Acorn. I have one episode left in ANZAC Girls. Have you seen that? A World War I story with excellent acting, good writing and a good story, about the nurses from Australia and New Zealand. You have some excellent actors. The production quality of ABC is quite good and I’m enjoying watching what they send out to the world. Thank you.

Hi carolyn – you all get quite a view in your part of the world 🙂 – a little bit of Heaven for a President to escape to 🙂

Our ABC used to produce much really good drama until the government decided to remove the funds. Much of what I enjoyed is very old. If you ever get the chance to see “Sea Change” it was – as we say – a hoot!!

Christmas wishes to you and yours

So, I shall refrain from elaborating on nothing, and wish you all a good Christmas Eve eve. Will be having a quiet day tomorrow, I swear I will!! ❤ 🐻 🙂 _^..^_ ❤

sorry to say we continue to rain on the obama family holiday parade with our wintery weather. temps in the 70s and intermittent showers, instead of the 80s and sunshine we’d wanted to provide. beautiful and green, though, and the surf is amazing to watch.

so our news site today had only this to add to the photo posted earlier of the president hiking. i love the first family relaxing and enjoying fun activities together. and today, our first lady got to enjoy a hot fudge sundae!
