GM all. Going to be 50 in Chitown today, with some rain. But not to worry, back into the 20’s in 2 days. But no snow in the forecast, which is bumming me out. Last year we were inundated with the white stuff. This year only a couple inches so far which are, obviously, long gone. I really enjoy white Christmases, but looking doubtful right now.

Last week I made a comment about how anger seems to be the default emotional setting nowadays. In order to avoid getting too entangled in that emotion, I am really limiting myself in terms of commenting on the current state of affairs in our country and around the world.

Let me just make the following quick observations:

Dick Cheney is still a dick.
Our media is still a joke.
The GOP is still composed of asses.
And PBO is still the best thing this country has going for it right now.

      I agree, Meta.

When Secretary Hagel resigned, I saw a tweet but didn’t click on the link that said (according to the article) that there was a disagreement between Secretary Hagel and President Obama — don’t remember who tweeted it, have no idea if it’s true or not.

But President Obama has demonstrated that he does not dismiss promises he has made, despite ongoing obstruction and obstacles and emoPutin whining.

PBO is such an honorable man, it tears me apart inside to see unwarranted and mindless attacks on his *character*.

      • December 15, 2014 at 11:32 am

Yes, I also saw that tweet but, like you, I didn’t follow the link. PBO is absolutely a man of honor. I think he’ll do it; if not, get very, very close.

Just wanted to delurk long enough to state the obvious; the women in POTUSs life are gorgeous. Including his striking Mother-in-law. But I have to note that Malia has been blessed with both of her parents best features, and is gorgeous in the “drop-dead” category!

Grace, you nailed it, especially re: Malia. But Sasha is growing up to be a beauty also! Smart and gorgeous inside and out. They seem to be such balanced , well-mannered young ladies. But then, I wouldn’t expect anything else from POTUS and FLOTUS. Great parents! (And Mama Robinson brings up the rear. I would buy HER book in a minute, if she ever decides to write one…)

I’ve heard she has her own group of friends in DC and enjoys several different things. Fortunately she has been able to have privacy too. Just imagine how she could have friends with a lot of the regular staff. Was she in any photos from last night?

The girls godmother “Mama Kaye” (Kaye Wilson) who is Mrs. Robinson’s best friend is here often. I think the fact that The First Grandmother is able to have a “normal life” is why she has remained here in DC for the duration. There has been talk (only rumor) that she will stay in DC with Sasha as she finishes her school year in 2017.

A Philadelphia city councilman is making no apologies calling New Jersey governor Chris Christie a โ€œfat assโ€ in some tweets last night.
The councilman was fuming that the guv sat with the owner of the Dallas Cowboys …

โ€œI could see him myself, high-fiving Jerry Jones and cheering on the Cowboys against the Eagles,โ€ Kenney recalls.

And that prompted Kenney to send several tweets, calling Christie โ€œa fat ass,โ€ accusing him of โ€œkissing Jerry Jonesโ€™ assโ€ and โ€œkissing Texasโ€™ ass for 2016,โ€ …

This morning, Kenney had no regrets. … Neither does Kenney regret using the term โ€œfat ass.โ€
โ€œI have a big nose. Heโ€™s got a fat ass. Itโ€™s what life deals you,โ€ Kenney said.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam (R) has reached an agreement with the Obama administration to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, according to multiple press reports Monday morning.

The plan would allow the state to use Medicaid dollars to purchase private insurance for low-income residents, similar to the plan pioneered by Arkansas, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Haslam is holding a 11 a.m. ET press conference to announce the deal, which must be approved by the state legislature.

These Republican Governors are trying to be too cute. There has always been private insurers that offer Medicaid coverage. They think they can pull one over on the public and the public is so dense they will fall for it.

    • 64 Don
      December 15, 2014 at 11:39 am

But they will, Linda, some of these Governors wil pull the wool over the eyes of some of their flock. But the good thing is that more low-income families will get coverage.

    • 65 japa21
      December 15, 2014 at 12:14 pm

Yes, but this does expand the number of people who have coverage, so it is a way to benefit many people w/o seeming to have caved into Obamacare. And that is all I care about, that people that need the coverage are able to get it.

      • December 15, 2014 at 12:53 pm

Hello TOD. I have been lurking only during these times of protest of police abuses. My family and I have had too much negative (euphemism) experience with the uniformed, organized gangsters, that it is difficult to know where to start. Maybe, when we were kids my mom, told us to call the fire dept. always in an emergency, NOT the police!. (I grew up on the Southside of Chicago during the 60’s and 70’s.) I had a mentally ill cousin killed in a police choke-hold just for walking away from his facility. Another cousin, suicide by cop. How me and my immediate family have survived our encounters with Chicago’s finest, (!!!) is due only to God’s grace. I spent my 24th birthday in a San Diego jail for yelling at some cops to stop beating my female room-mate up, we were both in the Navy, they started the altercation and it was 5 against 1, and one of the most vicious beatings I have been witness to. Why they didn’t beat me up is still a mystery to me although it took them a year to throw out their phony trumped up charges when they realized I was not going quietly. I really could write a book…

I prayed a very sincere prayer as a young girl, that if I survived to be a senior citizen, that I would not be a bitter or cynical old woman. (I’m not an “old” woman yet ๐Ÿ™‚ )

TOD, the blog and community here, is indispensable to keeping the light and focus on the loveliness and beauty, and hope in the world.
