    Morning folks.

Very sad mood right now. Looks like the missus won’t be back until after the new year. And as I have my family out here, not going out there while I’m on vacation. So rather bummed right now.

Thanks everyone. The funny thing is that after you’ve been with someone for years, you start to think “Gee, a couple of weeks to myself would be nice.” And then it happens and you realize it kind of actually sucks.

I know what you mean LL, as much as might think that my wife complains about something. I wouldn’t know what to do without her, she is my light, we have been through good times and bad times and feast and famine. But at the end of the day she has my back, even sometimes when I don’t deserve it.

LL, I’m completely with you on this one. Even after all our years together, I get really down if my husband is away for more than one day. People knit together in time and there really is a two equals one feeling.

LL, so sorry she won’t be home. I know that she is a major light in your life. Yes, those “days alone to do whatever I want” sound okay in the abstract, but they’re not so good in the concrete. About the only comfort is that you know she is where she needs to be right now…..not much comfort, though I know. When two lives are so intertwined, it’s difficult to be without the other half.

I do indeed love my alone-time but I only love it because I know Mr. 57 will be coming home.

You’re part of our family at TOD. We’ll bring you some holiday cheer.

Mark Knoller is truly a master at stating the obvious. We are less than a week from the winter solstice and roses generally don’t bloom in winter. Nice to have this confirmed by a White House correspondent.

Chris Cillizza @TheFix has apparently blocked me – presumably on the basis of my retweets, since, aside from energy-related subjects, I don’t send out many original tweets myself.

    Odd.

My son did his Army basic training at Fort Dix…..just one base back in 1987. He was 18 years old, four months out of high school, and left with four other guys from OKC, one of whom had never seen a plane before, much less been on one. They arrived in NJ in the middle of the night…..he was there October to February. Then he went to Fort Belvoir, VA, then to Germany. He loved Germany, and we went to visit him one spring break and had a great time with him. Warm memories.
