The pundits who couch their articles about race by saying “In the Age of President Obama”…do us all a disservice…they pretend that the struggle against started with the President …or they want to blame him for not ending racism and racist terror or say that he made so called race relations worse….I am with Chris Rock…there is no race relations….there was just no discussion about it…and blk folks just suffered in silence….

“Now…if all you care about is sticking it to Wall Street, the current battle among Democrats over this bill might be worth having. But – if you also care about enforcing the critical aspects of Wall Street reform, Obamacare, the President’s actions on immigration, early childhood education, climate change, job growth, and national security – all this hysteria is simply a distraction”

Angelina Jolie has Chicken Pox at 39 yrs old? It is a more serious illness with adults than with children.

Had a distant relative who had shots as a child, but caught Chicken Pox in her early 40s. Doctor said that the Vaccine was no longer working in her system after many years. Funny she never caught it as she raised her 5 kids who all had Chicken Pox as infants.

Interesting, Nena. I know even people who have had chicken pox can develop Shingles later on, which is quite nasty, especially in older people. The Shingles vaccine may help limit or decrease the aggressiveness of shingles. I am usually the last person to get any vaccine, but once I understood shingles, it made sense to go with this one.

          • December 13, 2014 at 6:02 pm

Agree about shingles, MP. I got the vaccine two years ago. Like you, I get few vaccines and that includes the flu shot.

My husband had shingles…..shortly after he retired. It was AWFUL!! When the vaccine came out, he got one even though he’d had shingles, and I certainly got one. Shingles is worse than chickenpox.

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City’s rank-and-file police union is urging its members to ban Mayor Bill de Blasio from their funerals.

The Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association posted a link on its website telling members not to let de Blasio and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito “insult their sacrifice” should they be killed in the line of duty. The union posted a waiver officers can sign requesting the two politicians not attend their funerals due to their “consistent refusal to show police officers the support and respect they deserve.”

The union’s president has said officers haven’t felt supported in the wake of a chokehold death of an unarmed black man.

Leaving the March on Washington and what a day!
There were thousands of people everywhere. Peaceful, meaningful, purposeful people on one accord.
Held hands with white, Black, Asian during prayer.
I am so glad NY came out in full force. But there were so many Mothers who spoke on behalf of their loved ones loss due to “tigger finger cops”, as one young man from Ferguson described. Four hundred people from Ferguson showed up by bus. It was so beautiful. I cried as every Mother spoke realizing I could be up there.
Everyone’s story was so painful. There were three buses from my group plus two others left from our location.
Something is happening in this country.
Vipers be very mindful. His truth is marching on.

This picture is so painful to watch. But when you hear pain it just rips your heart out.
There are many others we don’t know about because the media will not report the truth.
How can anyone make light of these mothers’ pain is beyond me?
I am tired of marching. Tired of crying. Tired of seeing the pain on these mothers’ faces due to senseless murders and a system that closes it’s eyes and heart to justice for all.
Because they can somehow find the strength to speak up on behalf of their dead children I must fight on with them.
I am so glad that my sister invited me to see a one-man show of Frederick Douglas last night.
I do not think I could have made it through today without this gut wrenching performance. I could not sleep all night. I was relieved to get up at 4:00 am.
I would love to share some pictures here after I compose myself.

I have an idea. Rather than go start unnecessary wars, why don’t we work hard to heal and help our own. We MUST do better.
