amk, here’s my response to you on the previous thread:

Josh Earnest outlined today the priorities of President Obama that are funded with the CRomnibus:

      1) Ebola
      2) ISIL/Daesh
      3) Early childhood education
      4) Consumer Protection & SEC funding are both doubled from what they are now
      5) Climate change
      6) ACA
      7) Immigration

For a perspective on why 67 Republicans voted no (from yesterday):

    • December 11, 2014 at 11:04 pm

Congrats amk — excellent tweet. Left you a detailed response in the previous thread.

NW, cannot thank you enough for highlighting the brilliance and goodness that our President shares with each of us, each day!!

Thanks Bob. I somehow don’t share your hope. Come 2015, the thugs will unite, except may be for a few hardcore teabagger nuts, and will pass all their 1%er agenda.

        • December 11, 2014 at 11:17 pm

Respectfully, not going to happen, amk, for the simple reason that Cruz, Rubio, & Rand, to name a few, have their OWN agenda and they are way more ruthless than McConnell and Boehner. See my tweet, below.

I fail to see how the dems, vastly reduced in numbers in both houses, are going to score a win for the ordinary people, clueless as they are. Let’s see.

            • December 11, 2014 at 11:38 pm

They aren’t ‘vastly reduced’ amk and what Speaker Pelosi engineered today, if Boehner had any functioning neurons, should cause him to consider retiring.

Senator Reid forced the 2 day CR. He could have brought the House bill to a vote tonight.

Neither McConnell or Boehner are anywhere close to the votes required to override a Presidential veto during the 114th session.

All the issues the Kleptocrats to whom Boehner and McConnell report are issues that most Americans despise.

Even those Americans who can’t stand the fact that President Obama is BLACK will be confronted with affront after affront by Boehner and McConnell and, yes, they will also realize that that BLACK guy is 1) not running for office again & 2) sticking up for them — that’s going to be a new day in America.

That’s what’s going to play out from Jan 2015 to 8 Nov 2017. and maestro Obama is going to lead a performance that historians will be earning a living chatting about for at least a few centuries – as long as climatic chaos doesn’t wipe out our species.

Love it. And I, too, believe that’s more than just painting a pretty picture. Because I back Maestro aka President Barack Obama!

                • December 12, 2014 at 2:31 am

Yes, not a ‘pretty picture,’ Jacqueline, but reality and anyone paying attention to the House votes today knows that Maestro Obama and his two allies, Senator Reid and Nancy Pelosi are positioned to bring a metric tons of grief to Boehner and McConnell during the next two years – unless they decide to legislate responsibly.

I’m inclined to believe in Dr. Bob’s analysis.

2015 means that the next Presidential election is tantalizingly close, and Ted Cruz and Rand Paul are delusional enough to think that each can be President.

And Dems will have Drudge on their side, whipping up the ill-informed tea party base.

This tweet holds a lot of truth — these are the uninformed Americans who swallow everything the MSM/GOP/Comcast/Kochs tell them:

    Thanks Nerdy, you’re THE BEST!!!!

For those saying this is a crap bill, like any bill there’s good and bad. But there is a LOT of good in it including

The bill will increase the max Pell Grant award. There will be 8.7 million Pell Grant recipients next yr, an increase of 142,000 students.
The bill provides a $108.9 million increase for Social Security administration.
The bill provides $7.42 billion for health care and support services for homeless veterans.
The bill provides $500 million more to meet the health care needs of Iraq and Afghanistan vets.
The bill provides $7.3 billion for the National Science Foundation (NSF), $172 million more than fiscal year 2014.
The bill includes $24 million to help complete construction of the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

That’s why I get so annoyed with any politician who is a One Issue person. They blanket the airwaves and social media with their pet cause with total disregard for the big picture.

Thank you sir! I hope all is well with you. I’m going to now close the laptop and get back into my book I’ve been reading; J.K. Rowling’s “The Cuckoo’s Calling”. Has anyone read this yet? She penned it under a different name; Robert Galbraith and it’s the first of the Cormoran Strike detective series. Damn, she is a great writer.

Nobody likes the hit on the banking regulation law, but that has to be balanced with all the good that can be got from a bill from this good for nothing GOP Congress by leveraging some compromise. Excellent points.

Oh dudette – I read that story – I have walked into my bank with much larger cheques (checks) and no-one has EVER questioned my right to have it or the validity of the cheque. It is impossible for a white person to understand the racism that a black man has to face – I have great difficulty understanding why anyone would act in such a fashion. I hope he wins 10 times what he is asking for.

As someone who is opposed to many aspects of our “sue-happy” mentality, this is definitely reason to sue.

The bank made NO ATTEMPT to research their client’s banking history — if they had, they would have seen a withdrawal for a similar or larger amount within weeks of this transaction. And if the check were fraudulent, a dollar hold against the funds would have resulted in no loss to the greedy and racist bank.

Aside from being arrested, its insulting that the bank thinks that “an initial offer to reverse certain fees on his account” would help matters for them. Banking fees are a huge source of revenue for banks and waiving fees for a few dollars cost them nothing.

Unlike the USA, this bank customer is suing for a reasonable amount — I hope this is settled quickly in his favor.

Once upon a time, abortion AND birth control were illegal. A woman who had a problem with miscarriage was given drugs to prevent same. Many of those drugs had horrible side affects on mother and fetus. After several children were born with birth defects and several more miscarriages, she became pregnant for the tenth time and her weakened health became horribly worse. She and the fetus would never make it. Her doctor and her surgeon consulted with each other and took the biggest chance of their careers. They advised her to abort the 5 month fetus. She did and she lived, which was a very good thing for her five surviving children and her husband.

I am NOT a one issue voter and am glad some of the poisoned pills have been removed from this monstrous bill and I LOOOOOVE PBO, but I’m crying my eyes out. If that 20 week ban on abortion is still in, it will condemn women like MY MOTHER to death! As the oldest, I cared for her AND my younger siblings, while my father was in denial!

One thing is for sure. Every one of those filthy amendments inserted and passed will continue to chip away what progress has been made and embolden the viciousness. We the people are being punished for having the nerve to elect President Obama twice.

I love ya, Chips, Nerdy and all the TODers, but this bill is a sick pos. Now I have to go someplace quiet where I can wail in peace and dispair, Then I have to go visit my deaf sister. She needs help packing up her late son’s belongings. He was a down syndrome child and only 18 when he died this spring.
