    Good evening, once again!

I hope some of you had the opportunity to dip in to the “Strange Fruit: Seven Last Words of Seven Black Lives” program that I posted on the last thread. It was POWERFUL! It was organized by POWER (Philadelphians Organized to Witness, Empower, & Rebuild) http://www.powerphiladelphia.org/ The organization has been actively involved in supporting PHL airport baggage handlers, fair funding for schools, immigration and a host of other issues.

—> —> OBAMA’S FAULT <— <— AMERICA GETTING RID OF OIL ADDICTION AS PRICE PLUMMENTS AMID GLUT

The U.S. is producing the most oil in 31 years, economic growth is picking up and crude prices are plunging. …

Higher production has allowed the U.S. to import the least oil in almost two decades, build more chemical plants and increase fuel shipments abroad to 3.6 million barrels a day, the most in the world. Combined with lower prices, rising output has spurred calls for the government to lift restrictions on most U.S. crude exports.

This man has a lot of wisdom, Yardarm. If we could find several like him, they might together come up with a decent way forward for our nation’s police forces. Operating from fear is not the way to live, let alone function as a policeman. The whole paradigm of policing has to change.

You mean Chips and I also cheated the postal service out of the stamp money? O dear, that wasn’t our intention.

Reminds me that I got a letter recently from the PO that coming soon I (well my neighbourhood really) will no longer be getting direct home delivery. Now they’ll be installing a communal mailbox nearby and I’ll have to walk (horror of horrors) to the box to check it for mail. Ticks me off! Of course it’s due to loss of $$$.

They floated that idea around here for a hot minute and it quickly and quietly went to “file 13” 😀

I’m not surprised it finally caught up with me, since all newer homes have been on that system for years and years and years now – even before I moved here as a matter of fact. I escaped it to date because I am in an older area, but I guess falling income has caused them to bring everyone onto this system. All that will happen in my case is that my snail mail (which is primarily bills) will get treated like my email. I’ll check it on the rare occasion when I remember its existence. 😀

Uh Oh, I know how often you check your email 😀

I’m turning in now. I sincerely thank you vc for posting the pic in two different forms for me. Good night sweetie, pleasant dreams.

we’ve had the communal mail boxes for at least 25 years; they work very well.

              December 11, 2014 at 10:22 am

Probably as long as they have been phasing them in in my surrounding area. However, they started out doing ONLY new subdivisions (you wouldn’t believe how many have gone up in the last 15 years), leaving door-to-door delivery for those people who already had it. Most homes are used to it because that’s all they’ve had since buying a home; me, I don’t like going ‘forward’ in this instance. I can see me simply forgetting about mail all together, CBarb. Heck, I rarely ever open the ones delivered to my door, so why go *pick* them up off site! 😉

“The protest is scheduled for Thursday at 3:30pm on the steps in front of the U.S. House of Representatives. Senate Chaplain Dr. Barry Black, who is also African American, will pray for peace, and for the grieving families affected by the grand jury decisions.” (Personal note, I served with Adm. Black in DC)

Cartoon ran in the Bucks County Courier Times. Bucks County is predominately white (85 – 90%; too lazy to lookup…); I’d estimate that the Black population is less than 5%. Needless to say, folks are mad; how dare the paper run a political cartoon that reflects current events…

    • December 10, 2014 at 11:09 pm

The comments section shows how TONE Death folks are re: the plight of Blk folks in America…

one letter to the editor describes the killing of Mike Brown and Eric Garner as police making mistakes and using poor judgement….

      this is my response…
Those mistakes and poor judgments led to the deaths of unarmed blk boys and continue to do so…instead of railing at the newspapers and wishing ill on them…The police should be join with citizens that they have promised to serve and protect to ensure that no more unarmed blk boys lose their life due to “mistakes and poor judgement”

      ************

and of course there are comments about blk on blk crime….

this is my comment to that…

This is not about crime in perspective communities…there is crime in every community…(no one ever talks about white on white crime)…what this is about is racial profiling…racial harassment…the killing of unarmed blk boys and young men…and the un-accountability of police officers…it would seem to me that the police would be first in line wanting police officers to be held accountable for what Kim Deforest called “mistakes and poor judgement”….

Chips, thank you so much for the President’s day threads. I’m so glad you posted Attorney General Holder’s speech at the Mr Brothers’ Keeper Event in Memphis. You would never know the amount of work he and the President do to expand justice for everybody, if it wasn’t for you and Smartypants.
