I’m so jaded this last little while that my first thought when the teenager touched the elderly lady’s bags was that I could just see her putting up a screech and a black or brown kid being injured as a result. I would not be encouraging any of my young relatives to try that – which is really a pity.

OT- just received in my e-mail……BE AWARE!

Snopes says this one is true: http://www.snopes.com/fraud/sales/express.asp

    This holiday season, watch out.

    > Just when you thought you’d heard it all. This scam is
    > actually very clever. Be very careful out there! This one

    > the victim:
    >
    > Wednesday a week

    > some outfit called: “Express Couriers,”(The name

    > because there was a package delivery for me that required a
    > signature.

    > The caller said
    > that the delivery would arrive at my home in roughly an
    > hour, and sure enough, about an hour later, a uniformed
    > delivery man turned up with a beautiful basket of flowers
    > and wine. I was very surprised since it did not involve any
    > special occasion or holiday, and I certainly didn’t
    > expect anything like it. Intrigued about who had sent me
    > such a gift, I inquired as to who the sender was. The

    > (the card has never arrived!) There was also a consignment
    > note with the gift.
    >
    >
    >
    > He then went on to explain that because the gift contained
    > alcohol, there was a $3.50 “delivery/ verification

    >
    >

    > This sounded logical and I offered to pay him cash. He then
    > said that the delivery company required payment to be by

It’s not unusual for my local newspaper to print ugly letters to the editor. I could post a link to twitter but no one without a subscription could read the letter. I only read the letters-to-the-editor occasionally. Anyone who does disagree with these idjits will be scathed in letters back. So much so people with opposing views rarely write. However I couldn’t let this letter go by without my opinion. I just hope it made a difference. As a Wyoming White Woman I’m not sure what I should say outside my community. The letter I’m talking about is just another “Blame the Victom” letter.

    • December 10, 2014 at 3:08 pm

Oops, I did not mean to post that yet, I was proof-reading. Yes me, trying not to make spelling or grammatical errors because it’s been so long since I’ve typed more than 140 characters or just a photo.
Victim was the word I was trying to correct. 😦
Enough, here is what I wrote in the comments. . .
‘Why should we consider the crimes of the victim? Courts do not allow past crimes to be brought in front of the Court when someone is prosecuted. None of the crimes you mentioned deserve the death penalty.
Who made you or the police officer “Judge, Jury & Executioner”?’

Yay CM, thank you for responding to your local newspaper.

Agree with jojo that we as society turn a blind eye to “affluenza” defense.

There’s so many people in Texas (I think that’s where the affluenza case was — where the 16-year-old driver ran over 4 people (2 who had engine problems, 2 good Samaritans) and all he gets in in-patient care at a Malibu rehab center overlooking the Pacific Ocean). If anyone needs a lesson in life it’s a person like him.

It heartens me to see the price of oil plunge — I hope it takes down these people with far too much money from oil in Texas — last month there were lots of articles about the costliest divorce settlement in the US, where the wife wants more money because millions a month isn’t enough for her. Just makes me sick to think about what awful people these are.

I read similar responses on multiple posts on several sites but personally I am in the “who gives a shit” bracket.

It happened, folks knew what was going on and the repubs, some dems and the media continued to enable it. After cleaning up that mess the first few years he was in office in additional to all other crises….POTUS has enough to do at this point.

I get additionally perturbed because those complaining probably did not vote in November. So they can miss me with this latest outrage.

POTUS has it right. Acknowledge what we did wrong publicly and work to make sure it never happens again. Move forward.

FALLING GAS PRICE GIVE COSTCO’S PROFITS A BOOST

…The average national price of gasoline fell to $2.66 a gallon on Tuesday according to AAA, 61 cents less than last year at this time. The national average has fallen every day since September 26.

Costco has the potential to win twice with fuel prices declining, first because it pays less to buy gasoline for its fuel pumps, and second because when those savings are passed on to customers, they may spend more freely once they get into the store. …

I went to Costco recently and walked out with only two items. I wish I had a bigger family to purchase a cart full of stuff. I think this year people will spend a lot more due to low gas prices. Thanks President Obama!

I get his young viewpoint in several ways, and good for him, but I also get the reasoning for the March on Washington. And, yes, some of it is PR … there’s good PR to be had, too, which I’m hoping he doesn’t forget – including reminding people where we were in 1963 and during other marches, and where we still are in 2014. Different ways to attract and affect the national psyche, old and new.

If she and the others did their jobs (objective, impartial reporting of what PBO says and does and their impact on the lives of people here and abroad), PBO would not need to go around them so much. He is getting it done without kissing up to them and having the nerve to be successful, respected and well-loved despite all that she and the other Beltway media hacks have done to try to destroy him. She and those like her need to stfu and learn how to do their jobs. PBO brushes them off and swats them like he did that fly. He does not beg them, nor asks for their permission, and is not interested in their false friendship. He is a grown-ass man in charge of his own damn self. I am so tired of mofos like her. PBO is a man for the ages and she and the other arrogant, GOP water carrying traitors will be relegated to the dust bin of history. Furthermore, grown men curse (remember BFD Biden); she needs to get over herself. I hope he did curse the mofos out, they deserve this and more for their dereliction of duty.

And for so many grateful thoughts of knowing that she will Not be sitting in a seat with her disrespect for the most gracious, gentleman essence of the greatest president ever, and the witch knows it. That is why she is sitting there bad mouthing PBO. She has never and never will be a person that I will ever had respect for when it comes to her manners toward PBO. Goodbye, Ann Compton. And to think that the President was such a gentleman to recognize her in the WHPC room congratulating her on her retirement. He really did not have to do that. Tired of these old crumble up talking heads disrespecting POB.
