Gooooood mooooornnning, Chips and TODville. President Obama is such a unique person, such a great man in so many, many ways. I feel total gratefulness.
Oh meta, I couldn’t agree more. The President sitting in for Colbert is one for the ages. I can’t imagine any one even beginning to match his humor, presence and versatility. What a treasure we have! Thank you for all three segments.
Yesterday I made the mistake of watching a YouTube of W talking about how we don’t torture. I was reminded not only about the fact that he’s a liar but also what a bumbling idiot and terrible speaker he is, too.
President Obama exudes trust, honesty, intelligence, humor, compassion and grace. A man of singular ability to lead our nation in incredibly difficult times. I will never forget these years and his immense contributions to my life.
There really are no words for what we all suffered and are still suffering from those 8 miserable years of George W Bush. It just turns my stomach to think of the unending consequences.
Morning. There was so much goodness in last night’s posts I just wanted to say another thanks for keeping us all going. The bleak, rainy, sleety weather is doing everything possible to dampen my Christmas spirit, so I hope someone else has some to spare.
During the discussion about Keystone, around 5:15 Stephen interrupts him and POTUS says “What I’ve said Bill..” For a sec, I thought POTUS made a mistake calling Stephen by the wrong name, then it hit me, he was making a reference to being interrupted by Bill O’Reilly during his Fox interview. Only a few people caught that. PBO is soooo smooth! π
Ahhhhh – thank you Ms Chips for finding the youtubes for those of us from disadvantaged countries
Colbert is a great supporter of PBO – really allowed all the points to get across. We get Dave’s show on our TV, so hopefully we will get Colbert in his new gig
I’ll do my best to catch up with you throughout the day! Off to work for now though! Thanks for this post! My fellow commuters will notice me chuckling through the gridlock! π
I used to follow tweeters from the UK, and IIRC they commented on Colbert’s show — I’m certain that they commented on Jon Stewart, so I think the Stewart/Colbert shows aired there. I wonder why Australia wasn’t included in these Comedy Central broadcasts.
Hiya arapaho415, Ireland has pretty much all the same channels as the UK and for some bizarre reason Colbert wasn’t on any of them last time I checked. You could get Stewart, but not Colbert. Never understood why!
Wow, that’s bizarre — and now explains why I saw more tweets about Stewart than Colbert from UK tweeters.
I think the UK and its commonwealth — what’s the term for nations where the British Queen is head of state, but not part of the UK, like Canada, Australia, etc.? — would have appreciated Colbert. He is hysterical, and I think his humor would appeal to Brits — and seems like such a genuinely nice person.
Loved his segment when he interviewed John Lewis and gave him a (small) banner/flag from the 1963 MLK “I Have A Dream” speech, telling Rep. Lewis that he (Colbert) attended (in his Mother’s womb).
wow…..GM MsChips..if you are successful please please post it…thanks so much….i completely forgot about the interview….i watched it this morning….The President is soooooooo entertaining…..i love watching him
We got them for a couple of years arapaho (c. 2010?) on our ABC (govt TV channels – like the BBC) but then they were gone. Could be on cable – not alot of folks use cable in Oz – too expensive
GM TODville, THANK YOU for the Colbert links, will watch now.
I responded to some comments on the overnight thread, since Colbert aired three hours after the eastern/central US — the comments about the show had me howling, and appreciated the tweets about the President’s appearance posted here.
A couple you might have missed, both posted by our Dudette:
Love this tweet, since @LarryWilmore will assume hosting duties of Colbert’s show next month! Everyone who has a DVR, please continue to record this timeslot to support Mr. Wilmore — I know nothing about his crew and writers, but I said when it was announced that I hope he hired in the same proportion of whites-to-minorities as the Colbert show did, in reverse (i.e., television shows are known for being as pasty white as political reporters/columnists, so hoping the @LarryWilmore flipped that proportion in reverse — so hard to get into that business without contacts/friends).
Can’t wait for PBO to sub on @LarryWilmore’s show, LOL. π
And thanks to Dr. Pepper, I wasn’t 100% clueless about what #TheDecree was:
Hi Arapaho! That segment of Stephen’s show is usually called “The Word” — since the President took over for the night they had to give it a new name! π
This is why I rarely comment about NW’s humor tweets — I don’t “get” most of them, guess I’m humor-challenged — definitely am popular culture-challenged. π¦
what’s the word on this ‘entrepreneur’ running for Mayor.
Who is this?
How can I have lived in this city my whole life practically and don’t know who he is?

LocalSouth Side Entrepreneur Plans On Pouring Millions Of His Own Money Into Mayoral Campaign
December 8, 2014 6:35 PM
HICAGO (CBS) β A South Side millionaire could turn out to be the X-factor in Februaryβs Chicago Mayoral Election.
Dr. Willie Wilson grew up picking cotton, but he ended up reaping millions as a successful entrepreneur.
CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine reports the self-made multi-millionaire plans to spend up to $3 million of his own money, which could energize South and West siders already upset with Mayor Emanuel, but until now were without a community candidate to back.
He is not even the best known of the little-known challengers, unless you talk to his benefactors, among them, ministers who were at Wilsonβs campaign kickoff on Monday.
βHeβs given me his heart and heβs given me his checkbook,β said Rev. TL Barrett of the Life Center Church.
He has no political experience and has never run for office. Of course, neither did Bruce Rauner, who Wilson endorsed in a campaign commercial.
βI happen to think he is a good human being,β Wilson said. βI didnβt look at him as a Republican.β
Wilsonβs his own video crew was there today, gathering footage for upcoming TV spots the two-to-three million dollars campaign plans to spend.
Fine — your support means you will decimate all unions, hate the minimum wage, believe that all city services should be privatized. And you know nothing about government, except what it can deliver to the rich.
Nice. Real nice.
And the fact that cbs is touting him as something reasonable, is terrifying.

If I remember correctly, I used ANOTHER adjective before liar for more specificity π
There really are no words for what we all suffered and are still suffering from those 8 miserable years of George W Bush. It just turns my stomach to think of the unending consequences.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, meta!!
YW, YW, YW!!
Morning. There was so much goodness in last night’s posts I just wanted to say another thanks for keeping us all going. The bleak, rainy, sleety weather is doing everything possible to dampen my Christmas spirit, so I hope someone else has some to spare.
Happy Tuesday TODers
Heeeeeeeya Chips!!
Yes, he was, Africa. Our president is so multi-talented he just leaves me in awe every..single..time. Hope all is well with you today.
I’m guessing this video will be taken down soon-ish, so for anyone who missed the President’s interview with Colbert:

Thanks for explaining that because I didn’t quite get it. He doesn’t miss a beat!
π
I laughed so hard at that one!!!!!
LOL! Couldn’t wait to watch this again! Replay button will be getting a workout today! π
Love how he does the Spock Eye Brow Lift at 6:08 and the face at 6:57!
Hahahahaha! I just LOVE that man! π π π

It is soooooooooo good Dudette, I’m on my 789th play!! Good morning to ya!
Good Morning My Fierce and Fearless Leader!

It’s nuts arapaho415, and videos of Colbert on the site are only viewable in the US.
Oh, I completely missed that interview with John Lewis, HAVE to look it up!
wow…..GM MsChips..if you are successful please please post it…thanks so much….i completely forgot about the interview….i watched it this morning….The President is soooooooo entertaining…..i love watching him
In Canada, we access Colbert via thecomedynetwork.ca perhaps other countries can access as well thru this link?

No worries.Your TOD Family is here for you! π
Gosh, Dudette, I wonder if that ignorance could in any way be caused by the GOP controlled media that lies to the American people 24 hours a day.
I would venture to say you are quite correct, jackieg!
Had to come back and post this, cuz I saw video yesterday, but the significance didn’t really hit me until I saw this tweet!
Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family.
I am looking forward to seeing this video, big thanks!!
Moooooooooorning GGail!!
Gooooooal Chips π

So, will be late for work this morning. I watched the full episode of Colbert. Thank you all for posting. Is our President terrific or what?

If I’m not mistaken, he is a bit of a world-class loon who loves sociopathic “entrepreneurs” and businessmen.
Emanuel has been pretty bad but we don’t need this sociopath either, just because he’s AA.
“I didn’t look at [rauner] as a Republican.”
