Thank you Chips for the new post.

How is Danny? Is he getting ready for the holidays?

    • December 7, 2014 at 5:00 pm

He’s all set No Child, he sent his letter to Santa a month ago: he asked for 27 truck loads of cooked ham and another Santa penguin. Fingers crossed.

Okay, so I’m innocently reading this article about the Golden Globes because I’m interested in knowing who the nominee announcement will happen and who will be the likely nominees. After scrolling down a bit, I see something that looks VERY familiar, and lo and behold it’s a tweet from OUR NERDY WONKA from the last Golden Globes and featured in this UK -based online article! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Nerdy, I take it that you’ve been aware of this, since it’s almost a year now?

That is why comedians talk about how difficult it is to follow him at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner. I have heard more than one say that he could have been a stand up comedian if he had wanted to – his timing and delivery are so good.

Recommend a backlit keyboard for your next PC purchase (though you may be on a smartphone, don’t know about those).

I think that’s what LL got (a Lenovo), and my Toshiba has a backlit keyboard and a 10-key numeric keypad — love laptops with all the convenience of their larger, older brethren — so I don’t bother to turn on the light until the sun has set (overcast but still light outside here).

PBO was so funny; I think that this was even better than his past routines at the WHCD. His comedic timing is perfect. It was also easy to see that he was glad to be with these honorees, people that he respects for their talent and humanitarian activities, and for themselves, personally (like Tom Hanks and Al Green with whom he has some history). I was happy to see PBO enjoying himself.

  29. December 7, 2014 at 6:20 pm

Can someone tell me why John Fogerty has never gotton this award? We just seen him again for the second time last weekend and his songs are historic. He can’t even sing them all in a concert.

Just a mini rant TOD, please pardon me.

Instead of US Media calling the rescue special ops military raid……one in June/July and 2 just days apart lately…… a failure when all our Men come back unharmed…..remember, they Never Promise a return of all nor a Guarantee to save all lives……..perhaps the useless media should start calling these wicked basta*ds in Syria and Iraq: ISIL/Daesh.

    Thanks SoS Kerry.

Al Green’s music will forever be intertwined with my memories and feelings of my teenage and young adult years. He was everything and his music was everywhere. I danced to his songs at the prom and watched amateur singers sing his songs at school talent shows. I remember the incident/rumor/scandal about a ex-lover and a pot of grits (those of you who are a certain age know what I am talking about). My siblings and I played his first album over and over as we danced and sang along. His cool fashions were emulated by many of the boys. When PBO sang that little excerpt a few years back, he reminded me of my past love for Rev. Al and I went directly to Itunes and downloaded all of the songs that i used to rock out to back in the day.

CEB, I’ve never particularly cared for AL. A few years ago, he was at the Newport Jazz Festival; I had my regular front row blanket and found that I was singing right along. Surprised that I knew the words to every single song. He gave a really great, high energy performance.

Yes. I remember back in the day. I also saw him at West angeles Church of God and Christ. He preached and sang. Very humble kind person.

  34. December 7, 2014 at 6:48 pm

“What the Republicans fear most is the loss of their power to dominate (either globally or domestically) via a rise in the power of partnership. Then-Senator Barack Obama explained why back in 2005.
A polarized electorate that is turned off of politics, and easily dismisses both parties because of the nasty, dishonest tone of the debate, works perfectly well for those who seek to chip away at the very idea of government because, in the end, a cynical electorate is a selfish electorate…

Our goal should be to stick to our guns on those core values that make this country great, show a spirit of flexibility and sustained attention that can achieve those goals, and try to create the sort of serious, adult, consensus around our problems that can admit Democrats, Republicans and Independents of good will.”

pale peach, I think prettyfoot. Another four star fashion hit worn by our glamorous First Lady. My favorite from the previous thread was the royal blue strapless gown. least favorite, the dropped sleeve/strap teal from last year.
POTUS was especially funny tonight and he seems healthy to me, thank gdodness.

      • December 7, 2014 at 7:08 pm

Amen to his health…Vicki..i have so many favorites…hard to pick one,…smilin…one of my favorites is the blue dress that you spoke of….another was the white gown that she wore to meet the Queen…and i can’t leave out the gown she wore to their first state dinner…

Michelle does look like she just stepped out of a fairy tale.

THIS is what a role model for girls looks like.

P.S. Every other First Lady would have blended in with this dress, in fact might have looked like she was wearing nothing from a distance. πŸ˜‰

Our First Lady has such beautiful skin tone and looks radiant in jewel-toned bright colors and pale, pale colors as well (red is my least favorite color, I’m glad she doesn’t wear it very often).

    • December 7, 2014 at 8:40 pm

  39. December 7, 2014 at 6:58 pm

        December 7, 2014 at 7:07 pm

I figured the networks would go crazy over William’s visit! Why?? He’s done nothing except be born into a royal family. He is young, untried, untested. I don’t know what it is with “royalty” and American “journalists.” They go nuts. He has no influence in his country or in the world, yet they will slobber after him and ignore the most important man in the world! Go figure.

    • 124 99ts
      December 7, 2014 at 7:04 pm

For a country that threw out the monarchy – the US media is at odds with the people it supposedly reports on. To their utter shame they report on twaddle and hate.

        December 7, 2014 at 7:09 pm

Today’s Republicans would not have fought to get out from under England’s rule. They would have been the most loyal Tories.

I think we’ve discussed this before…….but WHY does the President have to gimmick up his tuxedo with a flag pin!!!!!

        • 126 desertflower
          December 7, 2014 at 7:22 pm

I hate that damn flag pin on everything! Pinning a flag to your clothes or a bumper sticker on your car doesn’t make anyone patriotic! His actions make him or anyone else, patriotic. It’s such a farce. Too bad he has to play this stupid game.

        • 127 99ts
          December 7, 2014 at 7:34 pm

The flag pin was yet another thing the right attacked him about during the 2008 campaign. While all those who criticised his lack of a pin have stopped wearing same (and are never accused of disrespecting their country) the President continues to show how much he loves his country.

I personally think it’s a stupid idea for anyone to wear a “country” pin – but I applaud PBO for doing it, not discussing it and loving the country, some members of which continue treated him in unbelievably rude and disgusting ways.

Funny thing – ever since he started wearing it , the media has not once mentioned its existence, and GOPers who used to always wear same have stopped. I swear if the President started to open carry long guns the wingnuts would all lay down their arms in protest.

            December 7, 2014 at 8:16 pm

Right, exactly right, 99ts. He is in their face with the damn flag pin ever since that appalling spectacle of a candidate debate on ABC, when he kicked the shit out of McCain’t, and that stinkin’ mess of a Billary. I haven’t watched ABC for one single minute since that night. But then Senator Obama showed the idiots just how stupid they are. And that flag pin is a caustic reminder every single time he wears it. I have no doubt he loves his country, and the flag. But hey.

            • 129 99ts
              December 7, 2014 at 8:40 pm

You explained it much better than me MP – the fools on the right stopped wearing their flag pins when it could no longer be used against PBO – I like that he shows them up – every single day

          • 130 arapaho415
            December 7, 2014 at 8:23 pm

Maybe that’s how to get sensible gun legislation in this country, LOL.

The RWNJs would be fit to be tied — they certainly don’t want *armed* Black men in this country! And they’ve taken a pledge to do nothing except oppose our President.

      • December 7, 2014 at 7:21 pm

Is it really more popular now? I wouldn’t know because I never watched it until PBO. There are a whole lot of things I hadn’t paid attention to until PBO.

      • December 7, 2014 at 7:32 pm

Most people watch and attend the WHCD to see POTUS comedy act, that it. That’s the only reason I watch it, never have before. Till this POTUS and FLOTUS got in the WH. Oh yea I also watch it to see what FLOTUS is wearing. But after 2016, I don’t care to watch it.
