After facing criticism for his handling of the Ferguson grand jury investigation, St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch may have his law license threatened.
A group headed by Dr. Christi Griffin with the Ethics Project will meet tonight to determine whether it will file an ethics complaint against McCulloch with the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel, an agency of the Missouri Supreme Court.
Griffin says initial reports from the Ferguson police chief that Darren Wilson did not know that Michael Brown was suspected in an earlier convenience store robbery were changed in testimony before the grand jury, and she believes that represents perjury.
β€œHe is the one that is allowing that perjured testimony to be presented to the grand jury, and that is a direct violation of the Code of Professional Ethics,” she says.
Griffin also contends McCulloch did not give the grand jury proper instructions – another ethics violation.

Well, I certainly hope they follow through with this. An ethics complain is the least of the things that should happen to McCullough. He’s guilty of deliberately lying to a Grand Jury and conspiring with the police department to suppress the truth. I want to know why that isn’t cause for disbarment.

Truthfully, I didn’t WANT to be up so early today…one car, three drivers, need to take son to work. Sucks. I’d rather be asleep right now:)

Morning all. I really appreciate the efforts of Bob, VC and many others to find the way forward from the many protests. It absolutely has to turn into long-term action or the whole effort will dissipate because it’s just oh so easy to go back into a daily routine and get distracted by shiny objects. And we all know the media will be working overtime to come up with the shiniest distractions they can to change the subject. If you are a Democrat, please hold your Dem reps accountable (if you have any). As someone pointed out in an earlier thread, the so-called Libertarians will step in to claim the energy of youth, if Dems don’t start speaking out loudly and acting forcibly.

In the meantime, we’re all trying to meet our Christmas obligations–gifts to find, packages to wrap and send, cards to write, decorations to complete. Yesterday, I got a TON of fantastic cookies at a cookie walk, had a great time at a church bazaar and outdoor Christmas market and then decorated the tree using a peppermint stripped bow at the top and peppermint striped ribbon to wrap around the tree after the lights and ornaments went on and now it all looks like a giant, fat peppermint stick! Today we may take in a choral Christmas concert at our local college. I wish I could say all of this was getting me in the Christmas spirit, but it’s hard to forget the families that will suffer this Christmas because their loved ones were brutally and casually shot by an out-of-control policeman. Let’s never forget and never stop working to make things better.

    Good Morning TOD,
NYTimes reporting today that NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio will host 20 Mayors at Gracie Mansion (the governors mansion) tomorrow for a summit on helping to implement PBO’s Immigration Executive Order. In attendance, among others will be Kassim Reed of Atlanta and Eric Garcetti of Los Angeles.
In answer to question about why there weren’t any GOP mayors coming, Mayor de Blasio said that sometimes the effort to be bi-partisan means that nothing gets done.

I wholeheartedly support Democrats who run as Democrats and proceed to govern as Democrats.

If this path was followed in November we would still have the Senate in our hands. By the way, Mary Landrieu, GOP-lit, lost he election yesterday.

” sometimes the effort to be bi-partisan means that nothing gets done.”

Well thank goodness somebody gets it. I believe PBO knew this ages ago but had to proceed in that stately and diplomatic fashion known as pure politics. He must feel about a ton lighter nowadays, even without his party in control. As I stated yesterday over at POU, he has become his very own party and I am grateful for it. Oh, and good morning TOD !

I guess the US media has a deep, deep problem with the widespread protests against the GJ indictment – particularly the fact that they seem to be multi-racial, multi-ethnic.

So once again, the racist media commissioned a poll to tell the American people, particularly white (and other non-Black) people who had any kind of sympathy, and who participated in or supported the protests, that they are essentially race traitors and fringe to be associating with those Black protesters.

Once again, the racist US media takes a normal and widespread negative reaction to a very unjust verdict, and turns it into a racial caricature of Black vs White – in the most inflammatory and inciteful way. Notice the picture they selected for their tweet – the most unflattering and stereotypical picture of an “angry black woman,” when there have been pictures circulating all over twitter and elsewhere of large crowds of multiracial, multiethnic protestors.

    Good Morning TODVille!

I have so much respect for King Abdullah II of Jordan. I believe he was the one who, during PBO’s 2008 campaign, personally drove POTUS to his airplane after a visit overseas. He and POTUS seem to have a genuine friendship.
