gm from my world – congrats on 28 million Chips, congrats on a moral Furst amk, and congrats on all the winning tweets NW

If amk’s birthday is the 4th, he can now party in Australia – he is celebrating on a revered day in the Australian calendar – Melbourne Cup Day – the horse race that stops a nation. We have our priorities slightly weird being the MC always coincides with US election day.

      Thank yooooooou 99ts!!

When I landed in Perth many years ago, the immigration man saw my Ireesh name on my passport and congratulated me.

      I said: “Pardon?”

      He said: “Media Puzzle!”

      I said: “Pardon?”

      He said: “Melbourne Cup!”

      I said: “Oh. Okay. Thanks.”

So which ebola patient have Joni Ernst met with? Or what part of Africa have she gone to prove how much she care about them. I am amaze that the people of Iowa would give that woman the time of day.

    November 3, 2014 at 7:29 pm

AGain—–the “reporting” that Luke Russert is doing from Iowa is pure shame. It’s partisan political reporting at its worst, a Joni Ernst infomercial. Tonight on Tweety he was reporting from an Ernst event. I have not heard him mention Dem Bruce Braley at all. He just gushes about Ernst, he is so in love (ewwww), no mention of her extreme plus positions, keeps saying she is likely to be the Repub VP nominee. I keep thinking I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole. This cannot be happening. It’s all so manipulative and dishonest. MSNBC is going all out for the crazy lady.

In your honor, Dote-ster, what a ridiculous dick

    • 57 4morefor44
      November 3, 2014 at 7:45 pm

one of the positives of this time where everything seems crazy beyond belief is that more and more people are understanding this now. “the news” has been this way for decades now, only now more people see it.

you watch old clips of tom brokaw and the like from the 80s and 90 and you can see it then too, although it might a little more subtle, but still there. amazing to see some reagan clips in the mid to late 80s and he’s clearly lost it, yet “the news” people covered for it then and still do now today for his legacy. imagine them treating a democrat that way with the same affliction! it came out in court that dick cheney would go to tim russet to get his message out the way he wanted, yet timmy gets revered now. just shows how much we have to fight against and how it’s a generational fight. also shows how amazing it is what president obama has been able to do despite all this! so overall we should feel happy that the game is being exposed now, and use that info to move forward and keep making positive change whenever we can. fired up!

I gather the man who is always wrong has moved his allegiance from Palin to Ernst – the only thing GOP pundits see in women is physical attraction and sex – they like them some stupid.

Well the pundits/ shills on MSNBC and the other networks are going to be sad when Ernst loses tomorrow. The Braley camp seems confident that they’re going to win and they have the polling models and early vote statistics to back it up.

Okay, I missed the celebration thread, but got to stick my 2 cents in anyway.

Chips, you started this whole thing just a little over 5 years ago. I don’t know what your average daily hit rate was back then, but it is huge now.

And that is a testimony to you. Yes, you have had several helpers, and they have done a lot. But you were the center of gravity for this site. You drew in remarkable people to whom you have been able to give some of the posting duties.

Some blogs, looking at the commentators, don’t have anywhere near the quality you have attracted to here. Knowing you, you will try to take as little credit as possible, but I, and I think a whole lot more, won’t allow you to.

We may kid a lot about a lot of things, but there is a ton of respect here for each other because, to a great degree, you have treated us all with respect, even when we get a little out of hand, and even amk.

There is one other person I want to thank. We all have come here from different places on the web. But I know a lot of us came here because a special person, BWD, guided us in this direction and I want to thank her for doing so.

Hello japa – like many I found TOD via BWD – I was entranced with the pictures she used to post on the site I long stopped reading – and was lost for awhile when they disappeared.

I’ve tried to write more about the whys and wherefores of this site – but you have said it so well – I can but thank you for your words and thank Ms Chips for this amazing place of love and friendship.

    • November 3, 2014 at 8:14 pm

This marriage is so on. Japa, endless thanks for such kind words, it’s been a beautiful trip, and I’ve made the best friends ever along the way – yourself included. Thank you again, and I echo your words about BWD, this place wouldn’t exist without that gem!

    • November 3, 2014 at 8:38 pm

Clapping as loudly as I can, John!!!!

Perfectly stated and richly deserved by Chips, her TOD team, and, yes, I will always be grateful to BWD for exactly the reason you state.

I agree Japa, with everything you wrote, and also want to thank BWD as well for her blog The Only Adult in the Room, which kept me sane, then directing me here to TOD. This is a safe and sane place. Thanks Ms. Chips!!

Japa this is very well said and to the point. There is no other site with this level of quality and it is due to atmosphere of genuine dialogue and respect that Chips created here. And yes, I, too, was led here by BWD.

japa – Well done! Chips, you are a very, very special person, beyond my ability to use common words to describe. I also came here via BWD (and CR’s Pro Pres Obama blog, which first “saved my sanity” after OFA’s forum got a little out of hand!). Thank you, BWD, and I’m glad you, too, are still among us!

Thanks to Nerdy Wonka, also, for helping to keep The Obama Diary alive, 24/7-ish, with the other junior partners … in the time of Obama.

Just wrapped up a phone bank using the HUB dialer in Colorado. Lots of supporters a few wrong #s. We had 15 volunteers which is a big # for us. Will share an encouraging story. We had a Phone Bank on Saturday which ended at 5pm PST. I later got a note that there were so many volunteers calling Sat. that they ran out of #s and had to close early at 6PM Colorado time. How cool is that. I remember when we had so many predictive dialers in 2012 that we broke the dialer too. Always a good sign.

Here IMO is the best, as in most truthful, analysis of why the pundits and the pollsters are so often wet behind the ears since PBO took control. The political signals they ‘know so well’ are simply ineffective in assessing political outcomes and the MSM, the GOPs, and in truth many (all?) of the older politicians haven’t adjusted with them.

“Fundamental conditions drive election outcomes. But in this odd campaign, the fundamentals conflict. ONCE-FAMILIAR POLITICAL SIGNALS ARE MUFFLED. [caps mine] That makes predictions hazy โ€” still.”

So, here are a few clues as to what will happen tomorrow. And why.

Democrats will do very well in the Governor’s races. Very well. We know this because the media is barely writing about Gov. races or talking about them. When we win they will make believe it doesn’t matter.

Democrats will keep The Senate. This prediction is based on the Media riff changing to recount and run-off messaging. Not a GOP wave in sight.

    • November 3, 2014 at 8:44 pm

Yes and we are going to do much better in both the Senate and House than any of them are even remotely prepared to accept. As noted earlier, Karl Rove and company better double up on their Depends before they start their gibberish tomorrow as the polls close ๐Ÿ™‚

      • 111 Vicki
        November 3, 2014 at 8:50 pm

The House too? I don’t see that in NYC with our House seats. We are going to lose some upstate and the hooligan Michael Grimm will keep his seat in Staten Island.

      • November 3, 2014 at 9:01 pm

Ted Cruz is already out there wielding his “power.” LOLz.

And as we all recall, this was the same thing they were saying in 2012. Remember what a loooooooooong night it was supposed to be? And then it was called for PBO just 10 minutes later than in 2008. I am not putting myself through that this time. No TV for me tomorrow night until AFTER things are called for the Dems. I’ll get my results online this time. Then I may turn it on to laugh at their excuses.

I vote because my father would have been 42 years old, if he had stayed in the state of his birth before he would have had the chance to vote. I vote because my grandmother, who had her Masters Degree before she married in 1905, couldn’t pass the ‘ Literacy Test’ in the Police State known as Jim Crow Mississippi, in order to register to vote. I vote because I know my history. I vote because there is always a choice, no matter how slight. I vote because perfect candidates don’t just happen….and waiting for unicorns and ponies is a waste of my time. I vote because I know the influence of government over my life, no matter the level. I vote because it is my responsibility as a citizen.

I’m so pissed. Rachel is the bitch from hell. She is explaining how in the last two years of every previous president;s term they lose the house and senate. this is the first time we have had a black president and who has accomplished than all white presidents combined since FDR. I had to turn her off a tweet out what she was trying to do. This Comcast employee was telling Dems no reason to go the polls because you’re going to lose anyway. And what really pissed me off was that she thought it would be fun to watch a GOP controlled Congress do even less than they did in the 2012 congress. what a bitch! A couple of people tweeted her asking what about the people? Any concern about what happens to them with a GOP terrorist congress. li believe we’re going to get both the House and keep the Senate tomorrow. But geez. Rachel really pissed me off.

    Prayer to my heart tonight.

My heart, be still. No need to panic. Tomorrow will be its own day no matter how it is dissected by the pundits. But if you can, please talk to your counterparts inside Dems that plan to sit the elections out. Tell them that you can’t take another 2-year period in gridlock and frustration. And, let them know that the Rethugs are already talking impeachment (as if it were the first time since this POTUS got elected). And you and I know that we both will go insane should that was even a remote possibility.

I count on you, dear heart. And thank you for keeping me alive and well.

Turned Rachel off, switching to HGTV. Do not know if I can stomach any news for the next couple days. Rachel was gleeful over the exciting prospect of a Republican Senate. She talked about how much fun it would be watching GOP led committees such as Senator McCain being in charge of the Armed Services Committee and Inouffe, the greatest climate denier being in charge of that committee. It just tells me they are all about promoting controversy to make their job easier or more exciting promoting more viewership instead of telling actual facts. They are about creating the news not reporting it. I had assumed it was more about taking orders from the corporate owners and they were not brave enough to stand up to them. Instead it is more about sensationalism, ratings and controversy. Inorder to create that climate it is essential the public not know the real facts. Okay, it is probably a mix of both, but I had not considered the importance the competitive both sides do it framing was in this situation.

    • 142 99ts
      November 3, 2014 at 9:48 pm

It seems from what you are saying Rachel (who is very well educated and informed) thinks it will be “such a hoot” to have the stupid running the United States of America. She should be scared out of her wits, not laughing about how the media has LIED to the people of the US.

Everything is a game to those who are well-off, I guess. When Repubs are in charge *they* don’t really feel the pinch as much, I would think, especially if they can get insider tips.

    • 144 majiir
      November 3, 2014 at 10:38 pm

Rachel’s viewer numbers are down. Tweety’s numbers beat hers recently, so I’m thinking that she thinks she has to do more to appeal to GOPTPers, the same GOPTPers who hate her because she’s lesbian and super smart. What she doesn’t seem to understand is that by cheer-leading for the GOPT the day before an election, she’s turning off the very people who constitute most of her viewing audience.
