    ***Updated at 6 p.m.***

All but final calculations have African-American voters in Georgia providing a larger share – more than 13 percent — of early ballots in this year’s general election than they did in 2010.

At 33.1 percent of early votes cast, black balloters nearly match their turnout of 2012, when President Barack Obama was up for re-election. Black voters then cast 29.2 percent of early ballots.

White voters, on the other hand, make up a smaller share of early 2014 votes – a 7.4 percent drop – than in 2010.

I listen to Michael Jordon talking about President Obama golf game, and he didn’t think to much of POTUS golf game. Now I don’t know if Jordon were just flipping off his mouth, but is Jordon’s game that good. You know guys like Jordon, and yes even POTUS like to trash talk, so maybe that’s all Jordon were doing. But Tiger Wood opinion of POTUS game wasn’t as bad as Jordon.

Thanks Nena for sharing this. I was hoping that someone in the family would post these comments of Mr. Tiger Woods. Tiger is the greatest, and I wanted everyone to remember that PBO and Mr. Tiger Woods were teamed together(why not play with the best, you also want to play with someone who is the best at their sports) Our President knows what he is doing. When I played tennis in my younger days, I always wanted to play with someone who was better at the game of tennis so I could learn and become even better. Smack and trash talk is known in a lot of sports, but when POTUS plays golf, he is serious. Personal note there. That shows one how much Mr. Jordon knows about PBO when he is on the golf course.

I just think that respect is respect, and some people do not wear it well at all. Like an bad tailor’s suit. Just saying. I understand the question, but I thought the answer pertaining to the game of golf was in poor taste. Give me Mr. Tiger Woods any day when it comes to golf. Just saying. HZ

“Georgia GOP Rep. Deal cites ‘ghetto grandmothers’ to promote his proof-of-citizenship legislation.”

    http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2009/10/05/62923/nathan-deal-ghetto/

    ——–

One of the most frequent targets in the Georgia GOP gubernatorial primary has been undocumented immigrants. Candidates have repeatedly harped on the threat of undocumented immigrants voting in Georgia’s elections, and have even used dirty tactics to unfairly disenfranchise legal voters…

This scare-mongering climbed to new, dangerously racially-tinged heights this past Saturday when gubenatorial candidate Rep. Nathan Deal (R-GA) cited complaints about “ghetto grandmothers” as the reasoning behind proof-of-citizenship legislation he is supporting:

Evil thoughts usually flow from vessels that allow the entrance of this evil spewing spirits to flow from in the beginning. The thoughts are already in this man’s heart, the mouth is just speaking what is in the container. The road and path he seems to be taking , surely as a human being who seems to lack common decency and respect can surely help him get on that “Fiery Blazing Hotel, Nena20409.

I just like to call them as I see them speak and live. It is shameful and disrespectful. But, We Shall Overcome this evil someday. I may not see that day, but sure, I hope that my great nieces and nephews and my friends nieces and great nephews will see the day. Indeed Bob – the energy and enthusiasm are so dramatically higher this time compared to 2010. The media spent the last 18 months trying their best to re-create 2010….unfortunately for THEM, that is not happening.

      Yes, Bob, couldn’t agree more.
Long before the final weekend in 2010 I had to prepare myself for what I knew was coming.
This year I am preparing too, but differently. I believe we will win a great many races and the GOP will contest each and every one. Al Franken 2008 is what I think is coming. And yes, with the same result.

    I wish

    – economic turn around,

    – GOP’s obstruction (of PBO & policies like infrastructure, unemployment benefits, veterans benefits, immigration),

    – GOP’s reversal of voting & reproductive rights,

    – GOP’s denial of Medicaid Expansion & 54 votes to repeal ObamaCare had been used more vigorously by Dem candidates;

I suspect that if the Dems had insisted on point out the NO stand of GOP & destruction of other policies, most races would have had Dems ahead long ago

I feel sorry for any American who hasn’t realized since 2007 what an extraordinary time we are living in. The haters have wasted all these years.

They know it, too. deep down. They know that President Barack Obama is a once-in-a-lifetime Leader and they blew their opportunity to enjoy what was in front of them. Choosing scorn and venom.

    http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2013/07/31/2390101/5-million-kicked-off-food-stamps/

Food stamp cuts proposed by Republicans could boot over 5 million people off of the program and create health problems that would cost the country more than the cuts save, according to a new analysis by the Health Impact Project.
If Congress cuts $20.5 billion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), as the initial House farm bill would have done, “as many as 5.1 million people could lose eligibility for the program,” the report found. The vast majority of those affected – 83 percent – already live below the poverty line. On average, losing SNAP benefits would slice the group’s incomes by 38 percent.
Further weakening an already vulnerable population would increase disease rates and thereby raise the country’s health care costs. Building off of previous research that found children who receive food stamps become healthier adults than low-income kids who grow up without food aid, the report predicts a $15 billion increase over 10 years in health care costs related just to diabetes. The cuts would also increase the incidence of heart disease, asthma, and various mental health problems, making it very likely that the SNAP cuts would cost more than they save.

They never, ever, ever think long term….not they they care about these particular people….but they never think long term. Sometimes, they don’t think at all.

Echoing what several have said upthread……this man, Barack Obama is the best president of my long life. I am so thankful to have lived long enough to experience his presidency, and to have the absolutely marvelous FLOTUS…..again the best of my life.

I will hate to see him leave this office, but I know that he and Michelle will make huge contributions to our country and the world. That’s who they are…..giving, altruistic people.

I know that many are going to make presidential run announcements next year, but NONE will ever compare to that January day in Springfield, Ill, in 2007! And, I honestly don’t think any election night can top November, 2008 in Chicago…….we saw what we can be with those large diverse, happy crowds. I treasure those events.

    • November 1, 2014 at 8:36 pm

Again with you carolyn, we have a dam good President and I let people know that every chance I get. Despite all the talk about his legacy, and him being so unpopular, I sense the media and the Republicans trying to act as if this President haven’t done a dam thing for this country. But they both are liars. We have a President who have work his butt off trying to bring this country back from great depression, from crisis after crisis. And we have a First Lady who I am equally proud of. I respect and love her just as much I do my President, hating politics she stood with her husband because she believe in him. And she has gone on to be a wonderful First Lady, in my opinion just as good as any other First Lady.
