    Good Tuesday, Chipsticks…TOD Family!!!

The late night posts with the tweets reminding us who will vote was right on time. Thanks, Chipsticks, for these VERY effective reasons of why it is soooooooooo important for us to vote.

    Have a good day, TODers!

  3. October 28, 2014 at 8:21 am

I was catching up on the posts from yesterday and overnight….I saw the Greta Van Susteren tweet blaming PBO for a Christie decision.

Chest thumping governor who prides himself on being his own man and answering to no one… apparently, not even the citizens of NJ. Showboating governor who looks for photo-op occasions in the name of protecting the citizens of NJ, but is really probably a fundraising opportunity…for the benefit of his pockets. Stubborn governor who will double down on his decisions…even bad ones. Mr. “Um da man” governor who likes to throw his weight around (pun intended) in the guise of “for the good of the citizens of NJ”, but in actuality for the profitability of “him and his”. Mr. Bullying/”Don’t You Dare Question Me” governor who basically tells the world, “You don’t tell me what to do; I tell *you* what to do.”

She’s blaming President Obama for *this* governor’s decisions?!?!?!?!?!

I am truly astounded at the media over the past 6 years – they have never stopped spreading hate and every last “scandal” they have thrown at the President has been anything but a disaster – rather a definition of his success. Imbeciles is the word to describe the US media. Disgusting doesn’t quite cover enough.

        October 28, 2014 at 8:59 am

US MSM is more dangerous than imbecilic, as you noted on previous thread.

They can spew outright LIES like greta did, and get away with it.

Greta knows that the only thing that matters is soundbite propaganda, not actual facts.

She’s planted the seed, and her followers will vote a straight GOP ticket next Tuesday — and will support each other by #BlameObama for how badly treated that uninfected nurse was treated.

    Good Morning……

So.. this happened on Sunday and the media is silent.

Stumping for Republican congressional candidate David Young in Iowa’s 3rd District, Boehner accused President Barack Obama of being too soft on Russia and Putin.

“Do you think anybody here believes that Vladimir Putin would have marched into Ukraine, into Crimea had George W. Bush been president of the United States? No!” Boehner said. “Even Putin’s smart enough to know that Bush would’ve punched him in the nose in about 10 seconds.”

But back when Bush actually was president, he wasn’t exactly clamoring to wallop Putin. Rather, Bush said that he trusted him.

“I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy,” Bush said at a press conference after meeting Putin in 2001. “We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul, a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country.”

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/27/john-boehner-george-w-bush_n_6056770.html ( video )

Really Speaker Boehner…..Did you forget about Putin invading Georgia in August of 2008 ? Did Bush punch him in the nose then ? No…Bush was in China falling down drunk in the bleachers during the Olympics….here is proof.

Good morning Chips and TODers. Our county was treated to another episode of hilarity from our ever-quarrelsome Republicans. There are three R’s vying with each other and against one Dem for a state rep position. One has an R after his name, the other an I and the third is a looney write it. Well the Independent acquired a tape from a disaffected girlfriend of the R candidate which shows him lying on his bed as though in a coffin and telling his GF that “every copy is a pig and a liar.” Now there is all sorts of faux outrage from establishment (and Independent supporting) R’s about this insult to our beloved police force and the R candidate is saying the videotape was stolen and released just to embarrass him before the election (Duh!). He also says (I am not making this up) that his GF assaulted him when that video was taken by attacking his genitals. Meanwhile, the looney write-in says that she is running because God has been taken out of our schools and she’s been chosen to restore Him. Honestly you can’t make this stuff up.

You could go about your daily life, meeting people in the street and not realize how absolutely nuts people are. Elections seem to unloose all the screws. I don’t want to know these people, much less have them in a state legislature. Yet Republicans will dutifully go out and vote for one of them because they can’t possible vote Democratic, even though he’s the only sane one around and will actually work for them and not his own personal gain.

GM Everyone. This is the type of news we hear about in regard to ebola. Wonder if it gets a mention in the US

“Scientists in New Zealand have developed a portable DNA testing device which they say could help curtail the spread of Ebola.
One of the biggest problems in trying to contain the deadly virus is diagnosing the infection early, particularly in poor and remote places.
The device, known as Freedom4, can be used in the field to identify the DNA sequences of diseases such as Ebola.”
“Dr Stanton will spend the next week in Washington, where a laboratory will evaluate the effectiveness of the device – the first step towards getting approval from the US Food and Drug Administration.
The US government has said it will fast-track approval for any technology that could alleviate the Ebola crisis.”

Note the last sentence – the US Government knows what it has to do to stem the spread of ebola – the pundits and RW Governors just want to talk their usual nonsense.

      October 28, 2014 at 9:25 am

Saw on twitter last week that a Canadian company has an ebola antidote, but that funding was curtailed because of lack of interest in getting it to market.

Now that the world is gripped with ebola-frenzy, no doubt governments around the world will be pouring money into making cures/antidotes a reality.

Sounds like another thing the world can #ThankObama for once he leaves office. An ebola-free world perhaps — indeed the world will be a much better place in 2017 than it was in 2008.

Cannot believe that ebola continues to be the lead story on CBS network radio news, and has been for the past month.

    Was this posted yesterday? http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/27/opinion/paul-krugman-ideology-and-investment.html?ref=opinion&_r=2

America used to be a country that built for the future. Sometimes the government built directly: Public projects, from the Erie Canal to the Interstate Highway System, provided the backbone for economic growth. Sometimes it provided incentives to the private sector, like land grants to spur railroad construction. Either way, there was broad support for spending that would make us richer.

The federal government could easily have provided aid to the states to help them spend — in fact, the stimulus bill included such aid, which was one main reason public investment briefly increased. But once the G.O.P. took control of the House, any chance of more money for infrastructure vanished. Once in a while Republicans would talk about wanting to spend more, but they blocked every Obama administration initiative.

And it’s all about ideology, an overwhelming hostility to government spending of any kind. This hostility began as an attack on social programs, especially those that aid the poor, but over time it has broadened into opposition to any kind of spending, no matter how necessary and no matter what the state of the economy.

Time to break this gridlock of stupid. Vote them out! Let’s build some infrastructure and save our schools!

Well stated by both you and Krugman, Df. People just don’t understand how utterly destructive Republicans are. They are willing to destroy every good thing in this country to stick it to to the black man in the White House. Everything is at stake in our elections–not just the next two years, but our whole future as a country.

    • October 28, 2014 at 9:47 am

Sadly, my Sil in Massachusetts says that “The Boston Globe” has endorsed Republican Charlie Baker over Martha Coakley, which according to SIL will seal her fate. It would be ironic if Georgia manages to elect a Dem governor and Massachusetts goes red. Hopefully, MA Dems will ignore the Globe and come out in big enough numbers to put Coakley over the top.

Dallas nurse Amber Vinson is free of Ebola, hospital says

Vinson’s release leaves only one confirmed Ebola patient — Dr. Craig Spencer, 33 — in a U.S. hospital. Spencer, who was diagnosed with Ebola last week in New York after being in contact with Ebola patients in Guinea, was in serious but stable condition in a New York hospital Monday, according to the president of the city’s hospital system.

U.S. facilities have treated nine Ebola patients in recent months, and only one — Duncan — has died. All but Vinson and Pham contracted the disease in West Africa.

I’m very positive about the elections as all pollsters are showing at least 8-10 Senate races a toss-up with those polls generally all within the margin of error. Couple that with Sam Wang research indicating that Dems have over-performed (meaning more Dems showed up at the polls than expected) in the last two mid-terms (even in 2010 we didn’t lose the vote count by as much as expected). And if any segment of the population is under-reported in the polling it’s minorities and young people. Finally, early voting in most of the key states show good to great numbers for Dems. So with all factors considered, I would much rather be in the Dem camp right now than GOP.

    • 72 hopefruit2
      October 28, 2014 at 9:46 am

All the MSM “news” yesterday evening were parroting Little Nate’s “GOP has 63% chance of taking the Senate” and of course yapping about PBO’s low approval rating being the cause of all that.

I have never seen a more disgusting media operation as what we’re currently witnessing. I hope people who watch the cable “news” regularly and believe their crap see for themselves how dishonest and in the GOP tank’s the media is – come November 4, the day of the actual election.

      • October 28, 2014 at 9:52 am

oh tell me about it HF. We don’t get cable anymore so we watch the national news. it’s been a reminder (after so long NOT watching the national news) just how the MSM are constantly spouting GOP talking points and rhetoric.

    • 74 Vicki
      October 28, 2014 at 9:54 am

The MSM don’t want to be caught completely in the wrong so their shift to a reality based prediction will be subtle.
For example: Yesterday some pundits said that Dems may flip 1 Governor’s seat.
Today, in the NYTimes the prediction is that Dems will flip 2-3 Governor’s seats.

My prediction for at least 6 months has been that we will win betwween 5-10 Governor’s seats. A Democratic Wave, if you will.

      • 75 hopefruit2
        October 28, 2014 at 9:58 am

Yes, they will be very sneaky in their shift – while still trying to make it seem as though the Dems (especially Pres Obama) are sooooo unpopular and disliked and weak, etc.

I predict that if there is anything resembling a Dem “wave” on Tuesday, and that sounds increasingly possible, the MSM will quickly push the narratives that the Dems did well only because they distanced themselves from Obama – and therefore, the 2016 Dem candidate MUST campaign by running away from Pres Obama because he is as toxic and disliked as Bush was in 2008. This is going to be the MSM narrative between now and November 2016. I pity the Democratic candidate (and their supporters) who actually takes this MSM narrative seriously.

        • 76 forus50
          October 28, 2014 at 10:07 am

Yes, the fact that top Dems are going to all the toss-up states to campaign for the candidates means that they know there is a good chance of taking those seats. It’s just like 2012 when the entire msm was repeating Gallup polls ad nauseam which were NATIONAL polls– when the friggin’ election is 50 separate STATE elections.

    • October 28, 2014 at 10:18 am

Just like with “Obamacare”, the GOP and the MSM are making a mistake by trying to make the mid-terms all about Obama. President Obama has said it’s about *us*. That’s why *we* are GOTV!!!!

Each one was a precious gift, just right for her time. What is good is when you get to the point where you can remember the joy she gave you and laugh with each other over her antics. Thinking of you at this hard time. I know she enriched your lives.

This is common sense, no? Why would they conduct a national poll when the only national races that are critical to the Dems/GOP are in 10 key states for control of the Senate? When 25 years olds hear that it’s going to be a landslide for the incumbent senator in their state, they ain’t going to be out voting! They’re going to be out working, or partying or sleeping or whatever they normally do next Tuesday! That’s just how it is. HOWEVER, in the states that matter and where the DSCC and other organizations have been working for a year those polls would show a different story.
