This POS needs to go. If Turtle gets his way…and become majority leader..

    http://crooksandliars.com/2014/10/2017-project-gop-aca-replacement-they-dont

Let me introduce you to The Project 2017, headed up by Bill Kristol and Dan Senor, among others, and presumably funded by the usual billionaire suspects. The Project 2017 has a comprehensive plan outlined on their website for how they propose to replace the ACA.

First, we start with full repeal of the Affordable Care Act. That means pre-existing conditions are once again in play, no premium assistance, no co-pay assistance, no state exchanges, no minimum benefits, and annual and lifetime caps on what insurers must pay are reinstated. Also, premiums would not be limited for different age bands, so that 60-year olds could pay as much as 10 or 15 times what a 20-year old might pay.

Now that it’s 2008 all over again, here are the bullets The Project 2017 would like us to swallow as “common sense reforms”:

    I. End of Year Refundable Tax Credits

II. Return to COBRA and High Risk Pools

III. The usual package of ‘reforms’ that aren’t

Selling across state lines, medical liability insurance limits, rewards for healthy lifestyles (which really means ratings for being overweight or a smoker, etc.), and of course Health Savings Accounts.

Well, after reading these last two posts, I am even more PISSED! Tried to watch CBS News. The segment of Democrats are DOOMED, Mary Landreiu is DOOMED, I switched to ABC. Don’t you know, the segment after I switched, ABC did their hit piece on the Democrats……PO’s approval rating is at its lowest ever and even lower in red states where there’s TIGHT Senate races. Then proceeded to list all the Dems who are campaigning for other Dems and how PO was only out and about for golf and this morning, his daughter’s teacher conferences. No mention of his schedule for the rest of the week. To make this whole thing even worse, my husband seldom pays attention to the news, but he was obviously all ears during that negative report. I am fuming and so, so PISSED! Sorry for the language, but I so hope and pray these people get surprised!

It’s the Kochs they buy billion dollars worth of ads and basically are paying the pay checks of these idiots.

        October 27, 2014 at 8:21 pm

tnmtngirl……I watched ABC too. Their report was disgusting, and I wrote Muir and told him so. Karl had the audacity to compare GWB who was out campaigning in 2006, even though his approval was low, as if that was the model to follow. I reminded them, Karl and Muir, that Karl didn’t finish the story. Yes, GWB campaigned, and the Democrats trampled the Republicans in that election. Karl also said that Nate Silver said Repubs had a 63% chance of taking the Senate, and “privately, a few Dem Senators agree.” wink, wink, grin, grin. I was steaming too.

I also asked Muir why PBO is unpopular: employment is up, gas prices are down, stock market is up, and one other thing. I told him I blamed the MSM for the rating.

My husband said…..what do they expect? He’s done more than anyone else, with no help.

Carolyn, I wouldn’t believe Nate Silver if he told me the sun rises in the east. He uses models that are completely dependent on bogus polls and I don’t trust anything he says. He no more knows Tuesday’s outcome, then any other paid shill.

Tn, because there is no Republican wave in sight, the right-owned media is going all out to undermine Dems, suppress the vote and discourage turnout. The world they describe is the one they would like to see, not the one that is. In today’s world, the media are fantasists, like sci fi or children’s fiction authors. Meantime, in the real world and on the ground, Democrats are working hard to get Dems elected. The president’s approval ratings are 100 percent irrelevant to what’s happening in our various state races. I went to a GOTV planning meeting tonight and I can you that our Dem campaigns are being professional run and everyone is working their tails off to get voters to the polls.

    • October 27, 2014 at 8:20 pm

The media is desperate – it’s laughable….I guess Koch/Alec must have threatened a few people in the MSM with job losses or demotions if the GOP doesn’t take the Senate. So they’re flailing – just like they did in 2012.

        October 27, 2014 at 8:42 pm

Except for 2016 speculation, MSM political “journalists” would have little to report on if Dems controlled Legislative and Executive branches of government.

Doubt they’d get many eyeballs next year on 2016 speculation/gossip, so many would be out of jobs (wishful thinking on my part?).

Didn’t Nate Silver get the 2012 presidential election wrong? Or am I remembering wrong?

Tonight on the local news was a report of the low enthusiasm for the election this fall in Oklahoma, and the excitement is just not palpable. There’s a rather unpopular incumbent governor, who will probably be re-elected, with no enthusiasm. I have received only email material, no door hangers or mailers for either party. So, here, I would say enthusiasm is low. Winners will be determined by turnout. I don’t know if we’ve received phone calls, because we do not answer unrecognizable phone numbers.
I have been very involved in other state races particularly Texas, since my children live there. I have contributed to two Democratic candidates here. They are good people.

Nice to see you in first place, Prettyfoot! My morning phone bank went well except for the 97 year old (who did not answer the phone) with supposedly 200 people at the same phone number. Turns out it was a law firm and she must have been the founding member. Yikes! I hope they are all voting Democrats, but I did not attempt to speak to any of them at work.

Why does anyone even think they want to watch the “news”? You know what they’ll say..you know it’ll piss you off. Why bother? You learn more from what comes through TOD and links that are posted here than you ever will from them. Turn.It.Off.

I 1000 percent agree with you, Df. Watching the news is a recipe for high blood pressure and I haven’t done it for more years than I care to count. Since we know we’re only going to hear right wing talking points, why give them the satisfaction of irritating us.

Almost as soon as these details started to leak, the hospital appeared to scramble to set right what was quickly becoming a public relations disaster. That in turn is emblematic of the entire episode, in which what was seen as a political sure thing faced a harsh backlash and eventual capitulation.

This https://twitter.com/AlanIAbramowitz/status/526831144235302912 The DEMS never had a lead in likely voters in 2010 that I can recall.

Plus PPP polls released over the last 4 days have the Dem Senate candidate leading in Louisiana, Colorado, Michigan and New Hampshire. And Nunn poll released today shows she is tied in Georgia. HARDLY a GOP wave

I another sign of the MSM’s desperation, PBO was removed from the Monday Night Football intro. The original intro spanned the 40 plus years the show has been on the air. It showed Saint Ronnie to symbolize the 1980’s and followed by PBO as a symbol of the current era. The intro now only has Reagan. These folks are seriously trying to brainwash the American people. They are trying to make the President appear to be toxic to help the GOP who have based their whole 2014 election strategy on dragging down his approval ratings and “running against” PBO. It is no coincidence that the MSM has embraced its role as chief GOP propagandists. I wouldn’t trust ANY of these fake ass polls about PBO. They are the propagandists’ final line of defense as the public increasing tunes out the MSM’s bullshit (for some reason people give more weight to numbers). They are trying to depress Dems. That is the MSM/GOP’s objective. Why allow them to play you? They are desperate and will use every media outlet they control (which is all of them) to help the GOP take the Senate. I echo many of the wise folks on this site and advise people to avoid the propaganda. Don’t let them affect your reality.

Hi TOD… I have not posted for a while but just peeking in to help to encourage all of us to keep the faith
and tune out /turn off the msm.
I have been volunteering at my DNC office for the past 7 weeks doing phonebanking and whatever else they
need done. This really helps to keep me sane and positive…even in the ‘bad news’ spells.
I have noticed that a lot of people that I call this time around are much more cynical and just plain mean towards
our Prez and Dem candidates compared to 2008 ’10 and ’12. But as PBO has taught us so well, we have to ignore that
and keep working hard with our eyes on the North Star. Made close to 300 calls over the weekend and today. Left a lot
of messages, but also had a quite a few enthusiastic Dems ready to vote out my terrible, horrible Rep. Garrett in north NJ.

Now I am working on friends and family in FL, GA and IL. Those are such crucial states and ‘every vote counts’.
What’s funny is that my son came by to spend a couple of weeks with us and I dragged him out to go and do
canvassing so he is now knocking on doors…lots of doors for this last week 🙂

I feel very optimistic about our chances, so lets keep plugging away TOD. We might just end up having another Karl Rove moment.

““This is the time to finish the job,” lead US negotiator Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman told the Maxwell School of Public Affairs on Oct. 23 in rare public remarks about the sensitive Iran nuclear negotiations.

“If Iran truly wants to resolve its differences with the international community and facilitate the lifting of economic sanctions, it will have no better chance than between now and Nov. 24,” Sherman said. “Will that happen? I don’t know. I can tell you that all the components of a plan that should be acceptable to both sides are on the table.”

Iran’s nuclear negotiating team, led by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, on Monday, Oct. 27, made a rare visit to Iran’s two enrichment facilities at Natanz and Fordo.

While the reported purpose of the visit was to “praise the achievements of the scientists and technicians working at the two facilities,” Zarif also stressed “the use of nuclear technology for civilian applications,” Iran’s semi-official nuclearenergy.ir website wrote. The visit’s significance was also symbolically notable. The issue of the size of Iran’s enrichment capacity in a final nuclear deal has been the key hold-up to finalizing agreement, negotiators have said. Iran has wanted to keep the number of centrifuges it is currently operating — about 9,400 centrifuges; while the P5+1 (the five UN Security Council permanent members plus Germany) initially proposed Iran reduce its enrichment capacity to 1,500 centrifuges in the near term.”

Good Evening/Morning my Chips and TOD family. Just take all of your energy into your space and feed your spirit with the goodness of what POB has given each of us throughout these years we first said, “Yes We Can.” Because, I believe We Will Do This. Try to visualize that there are 44 people out there who will stand with each one of us all over this country, and we can do this. Change that 44 to your wish and your hope.

And because of the work that you have done or the money that you have sent in, will be multiplied for this election for our president. We are doing it fair, right, and with much hard work on the ground. Remember all of the money that we had against us in 2012? Yes, that was a Presidential Election, but we Are The People who want a fair and just nation for the middle class, the college students, our precious seniors, our children to have clean air and a balance environment to enjoy, and a justice system that will be fair and right for All of us. We need to bring those who are living in the shadows, out of those shadows; and Every woman deserves to be treated with decency and respect as a woman in this country. We want our men and women who have served us well and unselfishly to come home and be able to live with their families in peace and continue to enjoy all of the rights to further their lives as beautiful families should be able to do.

We are the ones who will continue to support POB with promoting peace and fairness around the globe. We are the ones who want all young people around this globe to enjoy and respect our country and see it as a fair and decent place for All of our citizens. We are the ones who want to help POB encourage young women and men all around the world to see us as a nation who will help them continue to love, respect, and have that dream to be able to want to look to America as a great well of knowledge, and fairness for all people.

Relax, mute the tv when you need to; take a break, make some calls in all of the critical states, and go back and listen to our president speeches to get yourself fired up. I try these, and they really do keep me in an encouraging state of mind. But remember who and why we are doing this. f PBO would want us to get the people out. He is doing his part, believe me. So let each candidate do his/her thing; and we will get the people out.

POB will Not give up or give in. He knows what this means, and he knows we are out here working hard for him and this country. We, the people on the ground who stood by him in 2012 will bring this home again. He is counting on us to do that again and remember that We Still Have To Finish The Job. We Will Do It. I believe with all of my heart.

Yes, these suckers get on my last nerves, but I just keep pushing myself like I see our president do and like I know people who are close to me communicate to me how POB keep focus and keep believing in what we are doing. He Believes In Us.

Be good in your space, we have one week from tomorrow to hear and see the fruits of our labor. I believe that we will bring in beautiful fruit when we get the people to those polls. Turn Out For PBO and our Nation. We the people.

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( And We Love You Chips and your beautiful Team)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) for giving us this space to come to. It is a beautiful space with such beautiful and hard working people. I love you all so dearly. You give me Hope every day.HZ
