Beautiful post, Chips! Such a fabulous tradition.
I was teary-eyed looking at the photos, Jacqueline, no matter the efforts to suppress people’s spirits, they keep on keeping on!
It’s amazing.
Congrats Chips on today’s game… and Nerdy too! Everybody wins! how perfect for TOD:-)

Very well done, Chips!!!!

And she isn’t in anyone’s “likely voter” poll. They have completely underestimated us!!!!
‘They have completely underestimated us!!!!’
Which is why the polls don’t bother me when they’re off. I want *them* to underestimate us. 🙂 🙂
This is what happens when you poke a bear!
😀 Hope they are ready for the Nov. 5 results.
I don’t give a rat’s ass if they are…..
Neither do I really. Only thinking of it from the perspective that I’ll be in full gloat mode.

LOVE THE SHIRTS ….MIGHTY AWESOME AND THESE SHOULD BE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY!!!!!…TRUE INDEED!
I just have to post this tweet, again.
Oh Karl, the night of 4 Nov 2014 is going to be a very bad night for you and your fellow #KOCHSTERS ….
Saw it on the last thread Bobfr – the dad has probably lost a few friends, gained a million more, and kept his self respect. The look on his daughter’s face says it all.
All so very true, 99!!!
I was going to do a postscript, “Isn’t she lovely?” – but might as well add a song to it. For Courtney and all the 1st-time voters!
One ff My favorite pics…YESSSSSSSSS..
Here’s where change really happens….. persons who vote and make it real.
I looooooove voting posts. It’s an issue close to my heart. I worked as a poll watcher in the past two elections and it is my favorite political activity by far.
The “They be voting! They be voting!” Tweet and the “Justice Ain’t Political, It’s Biblical” t-shirts are my favorites of this awesome collection. I’m so proud of the Soul to the Polls effort and the resilience of my people. We shall overcome!
I don’t know why I go on huffpost still. I guess I’m a glutton for punishment and am always curious to see how things have changed over time. I was reading about that nurse who is suing New Jersey for forcing her in quarantine and noticed how dumb and uninformed the commentators have become. It also seems that they are mostly white conservative posters.
Wish she could sue the governor direct – he should be paying – but the same people who pay his salary will pay out the lawsuit, after paying to defend the lawsuit.
…
I deleted that swbluega, he’s the deranged stalker 🙂 He just copies all the tweets he sees here, including that one.
Sorry. I was trying to remember if this was the one. Now I know for sure.
GOP=’GREED OVER PEOPLE”….THEY ARE INHUMANE AND LACK ANY SORT OF COMPASSION…BASICALLY…THEY ARE UNAMERICAN AND NOT CONCERNED WITH THE MEANING OF A DEMOCRATIC SYSTEM…THEY ARE CROOKS,THIEVES,LIARS AND TOTALLY SELF CONSUMED, DEVIOUS AND EVIL!…NEXT……………….
In most advanced nations having people queue for the length of time the US makes “some” of their people wait would be a criminal offense. In my world if the wait is longer than 20 minutes they open new polling places at the next election. It is way past time that an independent authority should exist to run US elections. This should really be a No 1 priority for anyone is the US who believes in the freedom of all people to vote.
PRIOR TO 2006, NO STATE REQUIRED A PHOTO ID TO VOTE
The Fight — and the Right — to Vote
By Bill Moyers
———————————–
SHERRILYN IFILL: Well, we’ve been hearing about this for some years. Remember, Bill, prior to 2006, no state required a photo ID to vote. You and I voted, I’m sure, for many years, for many decades, we arrived at the polls, we had our voter registration card which does not have a photo on it, and we voted.
And this was fine until suddenly we had this issue of voter fraud being raised. And although the issue of voter fraud has been raised, it’s never been proven. In Texas, where we litigated this case, where the state of Texas was all in to defend their photo ID law, they were only able to identify two instances of in person voter fraud since 2002. If you look at all of the data that’s been collected and analyzed by the best political scientists and social scientists, there is no evidence of statistically significant voter fraud. So you’ve created a system that disenfranchises millions of voters to try and solve a problem that you can’t prove exists.
ARI BERMAN: There’s been one billion votes cast since 2000 and only 31 cases of voter impersonation. So that just shows you that it’s not a problem. Why do we suddenly start hearing about this after the 2000 election? What happened in 2008? The election of Barack Obama. And what we saw is this coalition of the ascendant that came out for the president–

I absolutely love this post Chip and Donnas. Wonderful to see all of these souls to the polls. I hope the voter suppression backfire on the Repugs.

Waving discretely at Alma-b! Niiiice!
What a triumph of democracy and common sense it would be, if when all the votes across the country are tallied it is revealed that the turnout was the best-est EV-AH for a non-residential election AND the DEMS are in control by a great big majority! In a way, I cannot wait for Nov 5th to arrive to see what we shall see.
Look at that?
#YesWeDid with our votes and not with horses and bayonets.

Oooh! LOVE #YesWeDid!!!! I don’t tweet but this is awesome and much needed!
So tired of the MSM pushing right-wing memes and the lazy late-night comedians just writing jokes about them. No one laughs when they do.
SNL pissed me off last night. Their show opening skits have just been re-hashes of right-wing talking points and Jay Pharoah plays PBO like he is some bumbling black version of GWB! How can he sleep at night? It’s just lazy. There are plenty of clever things they could write about politics and even our President. But PBO is an intelligent, brilliant man who has accomplished more than any other Pres in my lifetime. Playing him as stupid and ineffective is so off base it has to be purposeful. Whoever is doing the writing for the openers has bad intentions and the cast members seem to go along for the paycheck.
Thank you to all the TOD tweeters who will be sharing PBO’s many accomplishments tonight!!
I recorded SNL and when I started to watch my recording and saw that they were joking about Ebola, I deleted the show from my series.

My sister and her son (my nephew) live in Cobb County (Marrietta) Georgia. My nephew turned 18 on Oct. 20. Yesterday he went with his momma and voted for the First Time. He was so excited and felt like a celebrity when people in the place began to congratulate him on voting for the first time. That boy is walking on cloud nine! Hahahaha and I’m so proud 😀
They keep interrupting me with the play by play so much that I can’t type this to y’all. 😀
Congrats on your very smart 18yr old nephew! I do believe the response of 1st time voters is going to surprise a lot of Repubs – more than the response of the youth to ACA insurance.
Thanks vc! I just want him to recognize that voting is a Right that many bled and died so that we would have and it’s not to be wasted. I told them both how proud I was of them!

What a beautiful set of photos. I’m starting to cry just looking at them. I used to live in Atlanta so seeing those Georgia voters in line is especially thrilling. No wonder Republicans hate early voting.
I did my part today, went for maybe the 6th? time canvassing for John Foust in northern Virginia, will have a chance to go 3 more times before election day. He’s in a very tight race against tea-party type Barbara Comstock in an open seat, previously held by a Republican who retired. It feels so good to get out and knock on doors instead of sitting at home biting my nails about the 2014 outcome. I give as much money as I can, I knock on as many doors as I can, and hope for the best.
I am very hopeful.

I am crazy nuts for Ambassador Samantha Power. She is a treasure.
In many ways, it just boggles my mind that the President of the United States has to be involved in producing protocols for returning health workers. I mean, that’s the job for staff. But because the GOP have their hair on fire, he has to step in. AGAIN.
http://www.texastribune.org/2014/10/24/analysis-missing-piece-voter-id-debate/
Republican state officials working to pass a voter photo ID law in 2011 knew that more than 500,000 of the state’s registered voters did not have the credentials needed to cast ballots under the new requirement. But they did not share that information with lawmakers rushing to pass the legislation.
Now that the bill is law, in-person voters must present one of seven specified forms of photo identification in order to have their votes counted.
A federal judge in Corpus Christi has found the law unconstitutional, but the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the state can leave it in place for the November election while appeals proceed.
The details about the number of voters affected emerged during the challenge to the law, and were included in the findings of U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos.
During the 2011 legislative struggle to pass the voter ID law, she wrote, Republican lawmakers asked the Texas secretary of state, who runs elections, and the Texas Department of Public Safety, which maintains driver’s license information, for the number of registered voters who did not have state-issued photo identification.
The answer: at least a half-million.
Happy Birthday, df (in case you didn’t see my earlier greetings).

Souls to the Polls!!! And this is one reason why Comcast will not succeed with their “October Surprise” on their home page. It’s a FOX video declaring that Democrats (all white women candidates) are “running away” from President Obama. Then they have the nerve to ask “is this Obama’s October surprise. I think Democrats should boycott Comcast. Their CEO is a RWNJ and all they do is try to depress Democratic voters.
