We are all going to be pushed and pulled in the next two weeks. The media will try to build up our anxiety, aided and abetted by fundraising e-mails spelling doom and gloom. We’ll be frustrated by all the requests we get from campaigns to do more–walk farther, knock on more doors, call more people. We’ll get tired, cranky, discouraged, irritated and mentally and emotionally exhausted. That’s why we need to take the time to rest, eat decent foods and take ourselves mental breaks when we can. It’s time to take a deep breath, figure out what you can reasonably do to help and then get it done. All the nervous stomachs, headaches and fears in the world aren’t going to get anybody elected. Only voting will.

Interesting…Is this a reflection of why the deficit always seems to increase under a GOP administration?

Sadly, those from Africa (or in some case those who have ties to Africa) โ€“ no matter what region since so many think that Africa is just one big country โ€“ are going to be penalized long after the threat of ebola goes away. Fearbola is longer lasting and propagated in stupidityโ€ฆand we know that stupid canโ€™t be fixed.

No TIME, this is not “human” nature. There was an active effort from the US Media, inspired by the Republican party and their corporate owners, to foment mass, unwarranted hysteria to try to diminish the President’s standing as well as make an issue for the midterms to help the GOP.

How come there is no mass hysteria about the daily deaths due to gun violence, or 20 young kids being killed all at once in a place where they’re SUPPOSED to be the safest – at their schools? Isn’t it human nature to be outraged and fearful about sending your kids to school after such incidents? Why wasn’t there any such hysteria and mass fear?

You and your colleagues in the media BUILT this Ebola hysteria. Now OWN it and stop blaming it on “human nature.”

When Republicans in Georgia are saying things like, “we donโ€™t want more black people voting, we want more educated people voting”, thatโ€™s some serious outreach. It may even be an effective GOTVโ€ฆbut not for the GOP.

Good Morning TOD! ๐Ÿ˜€ Caught some of Rachel’s show last night; she had the cutest segment on POTUS when he was voting. Some guy walked past the Pres. and told him not to touch his girlfriend who was voting next to Obama, and she, of course was mortified. Then she and the Pres. had the cutest exchange while they continued to vote. It’s worth a post if any of you gifted posters can get the video. You have to love this down to earth guy!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Imagine this scary scenario, if you will: FLOTUS will be here later this AM, one block from where I’m sitting now, and I’m stuck in a teleconference at work! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ So I’ll be in the same boat as you – watching it on the web. The paper today advises us to “plan our day around FLOTUS’s visit” – because of the traffic changes, but still…

    Good morning to all TOD.

To paraphrase and repeat two catchy bits I’ve heard:

Democrats are for The Many. GOP is for The Money.

Democrats want to Get Out The Vote. GOP wants to Keep Out The Vote.

    Morning Must Read: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/10/21/pew-study-americans-are-self-segregating-amid-proliferating-partisan-media.html

Itโ€™s no secret that trust in media has declined at the same time as partisan media has been on the rise. Donโ€™t be fooled into thinking this is about competing visions of political principle. It is about a play-to-the-base business plan, pure and simple.

But as in politics, the challenge we face in digging ourselves out of this predicament is compounded by the fact that the most liberal and conservative among us consume the most news and are the most politically active. They have essentially hijacked debates large and small by sucking up all the oxygen and exhausting people who have lives and increasingly see politics as an ugly waste of time. This state of affairs delights consultants who love the predictability of low-turnout elections, but it creates the all-or-nothing attitudes that derail constructive decision-making in our democracy and has led directly to the most divided, dysfunctional Congress in historyโ€”until the next one.

A few decades ago, politicians sent talking points to talk radio hosts. Today, talk radio hosts and online echo-chamber pundits send talking points to politicians. They keep their readers and listeners addicted to anger. The durable wisdom of the late, great Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihanโ€”โ€œeveryone is entitled to their own option, but not their own factsโ€โ€”gets discarded when people come to political debates armed with their own facts.

Oct 21 (Reuters) – Dish Network has stopped carrying Turner Broadcasting’s channels, including CNN, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, as the companies failed to renew a distribution deal.
