    This really sucks, btw …

Had just posted at the bottom of the previous thread.

Hey guys, here is the link to the BJ thread. I’ve been at it for an hour or so. Check it out and maybe your questions were answered. I hope so.

    Ebola, Labwork, Microbiology.

If not, here’s my “What You Need To Know About Ebola” factoid.

What you need to know about Ebola.

1)The 2014 Ebola epidemic is the largest in history. The outbreak is affecting multiple countries in West African. The first “travel-associated case of Ebola in US” was Mr Duncan which was confrimed by CDC. About 1/2 of the people who have gotten Ebola in this outbreak has died and although the risk of spreading it US is low, hospitals (let’s forget about Presby for a minute) along with the help of the CDC are taking precautions to make sure it doesn’t spread in the US.

2)A person infected with Ebola can’t spread the disease until symptoms appear. Time from exposure to when signs and symptoms appear (incubation period) is 2 to 21 days, but on average, they occur between 8-10 days from exposure. Signs of Ebola: fever (+101.5F), Symptoms of Ebola: severe headaches, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, or unexplained bleeding or bruising.

3)Ebola is spread through direct contact (thorough broken skin or mucous membranes) with blood and body fluids (urine, feces, saliva, vomit, sweat and semen) of a person with Ebola. Also too, objects like needles, that have been contaminated with blood/body fluides of Ebola patiend can also spread the virus.

4)If you someone or someway have to be in contct with a person who is suspected of having Ebola, protect yourself. There is no FDA-Approved vaccine available. Experimental vaccines and treatments are under development, but they have not yet been fully tested for safety and effectiveness. DO wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. DO NOT touch blood or bodily fluids of people who are sick. DO NOT handle items that may have come in contact with sick person’s blood or body fluids. DO NOT touch the body of a person who has died of Ebola.

      Well done, lamh35.

Fact is, if CNN etc. have done an enormous disservice instead of enabling experts to explain the facts, one of which is, SMART PUBLIC HEALTH actions to contain Ebola are actually simple to understand.

Yes…Universal Precautions and some COMMON SENSE, which is in short supply! Going to link this piece again for those that missed out the first time around:) Good Read from Jim Wright, as always.

If it’s not one thing, it’s another.

We Americans sure are a fearful people, aren’t we?

        We’re always terrified of something.

If there’s one thing that epitomizes the American spirit, it’s fear.

We’re always pissing our collective pants over something. We’re always terrified of one boogeyman or another. We live in a perpetual state of constant pants wetting, we Americans.

We’re addicted to it. Fear. We just can’t get enough of being afraid.

It’s the emotion that defines modern America, fear. Knee knocking, spine tingled, sphincter loosening, pants wetting fear.

        That’s us.

When we don’t have something to be afraid of, we make something up.

Oi! You watch your mouth. I have FANTASTIC taste in football. You have CRAPPY taste in football teams.

          Man United = Yuck.

          • October 20, 2014 at 11:07 pm

See, after watching United earlier, I can’t even argue with that.

I say again: me and football are done.

Although, if United trash Chelsea on Sunday, the love affair will be rekindled.

Hey Chiparoo, are you still liking Yosemite because I think I’m about to make the jump.

      What do you think?

      • October 20, 2014 at 10:57 pm

Helloooooooo Nerdy! Still haven’t got the chance to play around with it too much, so can’t rate the new features, but really really really love the new look, ie font, dock, etc. Have found it to be that little bit faster too, which is excellent, and nothing has blown up. 🙂 But, as I mentioned before, a couple of 3rd party apps are struggling so far, hoping they’ll catch up SOON!

I just searched, how safe is it to install Yosemite before I read your posts. The article I found was from July of this year. Is the final version out now?

            • 57 Nerdy Wonka
              October 20, 2014 at 11:19 pm

Yes, the final version is out and so far, Yosemite has been getting glowing reviews across the board.

Chipsticks has transitioned and she likes it. Getting that thumbs up especially from Chips means Yosemite must be working out well.

I’ve also been in contact with others who’ve updated and they love it also.

              Are you thinking of updating?

      He’s a misogynistic, psychopathic scumbag.

      • October 20, 2014 at 11:00 pm

He truly is Nerdy, have him blocked everywhere, although he keeps creating new IDs to follow me on YouTube, so was spared any of his evil for the past few months until I saw this. This guy is actually dangerous.

It would be nice if the guys behind the scenes at Twitter would actually do their JOBS.

They’re always late in removing threatening jerks who harass and abuse women online.

Many complaints have been lodged against that scumbag. Twitter needs to step up and remove the account.

          • October 20, 2014 at 11:17 pm

It’s incredible how this kind of abuse is let go by Twitter. I read ABL’s tweets and posts about this recently, she has an astonishingly repulsive stalker, but they do nothing, psychotic men stalking and harassing and threatening women on Twitter is, apparently, freedom of speech. Until the day they find a body, at which point they will act. It’s fucking outrageous.

            • 77 Nerdy Wonka
              October 20, 2014 at 11:32 pm

It’s insane. Someone on my timeline had an incredibly abusive stalker and then the stalker showed up at the person’s house and the person had to call the cops. That’s when Twitter finally stepped in and took some action.

It’s disturbing that they wait so long to get rid of unsavory and dangerous characters.

Did anyone watch Lawrence O’Donnell’s Rewrite of the New York Times so call big scoop of what happen inside Darren Wilson’s police car? I think it is clear to say the NYT doesn’t deserve any respect, it has sunk to a low level. But O’Donnell’s rewrite was worth watching. If anyone can post it please do so.

I got all excited about a 24-hr gym that’s soon to open near me. Bubble just got crushed when I confirmed that evening it’s in a shopping strip next door to a freaking indoor gun range. They literally share a wall. *#%^$&… Arrgh! 😡

      1. Oh really, NRA? Guns are “just bits of plastic and metal.” Tell that to the parents and family members of those innocent Sandy Hook students and teachers. Tell that to the family of Trayvon Martin, Jordan Davis, and Michael Brown. Tell that to the thousands whose lives have been snuffed out at the hands of “bits of plastic and metal.” What utter nonsense.

      2. Sucks that the gym is next to a gun range. Hopefully, another alternative opens up for your convenience and safety. I avoid gun ranges, gun shows, etc. Someone gets agitated and “accidents” happen. Or some inexperienced person messes up and another tragedy occurs.
