Chips, this is the latest news from the ManU email I received…

    September’s star: Angel Di Maria

Angel Di Maria capped off a memorable start to life at Old Trafford after being named Manchester United’s Player of the Month for September by the club’s fans.

The Argentinian playmaker was the runaway winner in ManUtd.com’s online poll, gaining 68 per cent of the votes. The runner-up was fellow summer signing Ander Herrera with 23 per cent, while the other nominee, Rafael, was picked by 9 per cent of voters.

Di Maria was in excellent form throughout his first full month for the Reds. Not only did he open his account with a fine strike in the 4-0 win over QPR and play a part in United’s other three efforts that day, he netted an early goal of the season contender at Leicester City with a stunning lofted finish and then impressed again in the victory over West Ham.

“I am very happy to have received the award but I’ve got to stress that it’s all about the team,” said Di Maria. “I’m happy that my career here at Manchester United has started very well, and I hope that what I’m doing out there on the field is helping us to pick up points and victories.”

As usual, I’ve failed at napping.

Just finished watching Match of the Day 2. It’s amazing that Brits can pronounce the most tongue-twisting German and Polish names, but regularly muff Spanish names. “Angel” with a hard g, accent in the wrong place when saying Martinez, and so on.

Ok, rant over. Off to make a cocktail and sit on the front porch for a spot of reading.

So, book recommendation from your friendly Liberal Librarian: “The Trigger” by Tim Butcher, in which the author retraces the steps of the the Bosnian Serb assassin who triggered WWI. About a third of the way through. Very good read.

I really, really like Sally Jewell, the Sec of Interior. I forget what she did in her previous life, but I believe she is a real steward of the environment. The department’s tweets of beautiful places in the country are truly inspirational.

Wanted to share a DCCC email I posted on the previous thread.

We can’t in good conscience send you a doom and gloom email right now.

Here’s why: you have been so amazing that we actually have a chance to win the big races for Congress. Polls show races across the country TIED.

    That’s right, Democrats can win!

Of course, it goes on to say that we need more money to keep the momentum going. But starting with good news is a much better tactic.

Beautiful evening in Seattle., oh Dear fellow TODObots! I have decided to take the next few days off to spend in silence and meditation. I have no doctor appts, no meetings, no errands and not scheduled to work until Saturday, so this is a perfect time to set it all down. I haven’t had a week off since I moved last year, and this might be my only chance!! (of course it can all change with a phone call, but fingers crossed!) So, before I go AWOL, I want to leave you the info on this very powerful lunar eclipse coming in. Well, for me it already feels powerful. Read on:
