Magnificent Town Hall, Mr. President! And congrats also to the thoughtful intelligent questions from the audience members.

I wonder if Governor Pence met with PBO and if Indiana will announce medicaid expansion in the near future. Sure hope so.

      Agree, Vicki.

The WHPC could learn a thing or two from every single questioner from the audience (well, except maybe for the dude who wished PBO and FLOTUS “happy anniversary,” but it was nice of the man to say that). 🙂

I just happened to run across the livestream for Pres Obama in Indiana. He is so incredibly intelligent about such diverse topics. I don’t know how it happens that he can still wow me, but he can. WOW!

      Yay, TME.

Wish the MSM would inform the public of at least 1/10th of what PBO said today.

See comment just above this one. 🙂

Mitt Romney, who just days ago was near tears over his failure to get elected and thus save us all from the horrible fate of record stock market rallies and the addition of 10 million private sector jobs under President Obama, is in hot water for signing voter registration forms without reading them
A copy of the form shows Romney’s signature with his old address listed in two places beside warnings that providing false information on the registration document is amisdemeanor violation of Utah law.

It turns out Romney, who is moving to Utah as a full-time resident, strolled into a driver license office in late August to obtain his Utah license and filled out paperwork to register to vote at his under-construction home in Holladay, a suburb of Salt Lake City. But, apparently because of outdated information in the agency’s database, the pre-printed form listed Romney’s former Park City address on Rising Star Lane and with no party affiliation. Romney signed it.

No Romney story would be complete if some low level worker wasn’t being thrown under the bus for Mitt’s mistakes. And so… Utah Elections Director Mark Thomas is blaming the clerk for Romney’s inattentiveness. Josh Romney chimed in that of course this was a clerical error.

Oh. Good thing presidents don’t need to read or be careful about the things they sign.

Just stepping in to wish our PBO and FLOTUS a very happy anniversary!

5.9% unemployment! What an anniversary gift! I know that may sound weird, but PBO and FLOTUS have sacrificed much of their personal life on behalf of the American people. Today’s numbers are a part of so much PBO has achieved in the last six years and I hope it helps FLOTUS and him to feel a little better about their sacrifices.

And thank you Chips, Nerdy and everyone else for keeping us posted on these important dates, facts and doings.

Just listened in full to PBO’s economy speech on the Northwestern thread. Thanks Chips! Love to Danny! >^..^<

Cnn fox and msnbc has been ebola all day long. Every time I come home I flip on cable.
Now it seems, might be ten more cases in Dallas from that one man. They’re watching them closely.
Can you imagine what will be said if ten more cases happen and how the MSM will try to scare you. Oh and they will blame Obama, as usual. 😦

There are 10 people who are thought to be at increased risk of contracting the disease – likely are 10 family members and/or close contacts of the patient. These 10 individuals were part of the original 80 individuals thought to have had at least some exposure to the patient, and were being monitored. They’ve just narrowed that 80 to 10.

These are not “10 more cases” of Ebola. Turn off cable news – their goal is not to inform accurately. Their goal is to generate hysteria, fear, and negativity (while increasing their ratings at people’s expense).

If you want to be properly informed, go to the CDC or HHS website for updates. If you want a feeding of hysteria & anxiety while remaining ignorant of the facts, then watch cable news.

Well surprise, surprise from our governor, Bill Haslam. He was just on our local news. First, to give short report on his trip with a few other governors to Afghanistan. He did have some very positive things to say about the situation there so I’ll give him that. Of course, no credit to PO, but all his comments about Afgh. were positive and encouraging. Then, they moved on to state issues and the first one: the budget. He has already warned all agencies/departments to expect cuts and maybe sizable. First thing he said was “Of course, healthcare is our biggest cost.” You know what I said!!!! Stupid haters. Take Medicaid expansion and most, if not all, your budget problems will go away. Geez. I hate these Republicans.

Not only that, CC. In seems safe to conclude that all that riot gear and exaggerated show of strength *was* meant to gin up residents to riot. As several people speculated at the time, Ferguson/St. Louis law enforcement wanted a riot so they could turn media attention away from what was nothing less than an assassination.

Why the **** does King always have to drag the President in to this? Time and time again. It’s like he wants everyone outraged by this to direct their anger at PBO. **** off with your agenda, King.

Exactly VC, and that’s what he’s being doing all along – posting a string of informative tweets, then finishing up by dragging PBO in to it. And he would have been the first to accuse PBO of looking for a pre-election photo op if he’d visited Ferguson before any Grand Jury decision.

Who is Shaun King, and why is he angry with President Obama? This is definitely Gov. Nixon’s, the Ferguson P.D., the Missouri National Guard and the Missouri Justice System’s problem. President Obama is not part of this equation. This is NOT a natural disaster that required Federal funds and action. Federal action would only have exacerbated the situation.

Also…….”A young man in the military……” how credible a source is that? This kind of tweeting is to my mind, irresponsible. Trying to stir up folks.

          • October 3, 2014 at 6:16 pm

I’m beginning to think Mr King is more interested in promoting himself using Ferguson, rather than campaigning for justice.

So many people are opportunistic at the expense of PBO…. 😦

his was probably shared here previously, but a repeat won’t hurt IMO, though it focuses on the SS story. It’s Pearce saying what we have been saying here on a regular basis.

It is now a given in all these stories that this particular president has come under threat with far more regularity than his predecessors did. The reasons why are obvious, but are held in such stories to be uncertain. (Oooh, oooh! Ask me! I know!). But the difference here is more than the simple quantification of the number of threats, and more than a simple question of who (failed to) let the dogs out. There has been an ongoing threat to this president from the moment his hand left the Bible in 2009. There has been an ongoing threat to this president from the moment his hand left the Bible in 2009. There has been a deliberate, concerted, and well-funded campaign to delegitimize him as the twice-elected president of the United States. Right now, there are congressmen and ex-congressmen who are coming perilously close to counseling sedition within the armed forces, and this in a time of war. The president has been denied in many powerful circles the freedom of action that had become customary to his predecessors. (The elephantiasis afflicting the executive branch, anyway, is another argument for another day.) He has been denied by the Congress even the deference due his office. He was heckled at the State of the Union. He is regularly referred to as a tyrant for doing no more — and often, far less — than many of his predecessors. His mere citizenship was said to be open to question.

I could grant him the ‘young man in the military’ because given the actions of law enforcement after Michael’s death, the scenario painted does not seem farfetched. However, bending over backwards to draw PBO in is another matter entirely IMO.

May be preparing for any eventuality, and Shaun King is not trustworthy. Has a political agenda, and it has nothing to do with justice for Mike Brown.

I am prepared – and i asked him the same question, and here is his response:

        • October 3, 2014 at 8:58 pm

“I love President Obama. I’m a huge supporter. This doesn’t mean he’s beyond reproach. He is a politician.”

That reminds me of the comically obvious trolls who try to comment here: “I love President Obama, but……”.

Followed by a string of laughable grievances, like, you know, he hasn’t single-handedly reversed climate change and if the earth dies it’ll be all his fault.

And King’s patronizing “this doesn’t mean he’s beyond reproach. He is a politician”. Oh Shaun, go **** yourself.

When I saw he actually called Ferguson PBO’s Katrina, well….. [trying hard not to use rude words]

I think back to @Only4RM’s brilliant response to Dyson:

Dyson and King are ****ing idiots on this. PBO has done everything he could possibly and reasonably do without interfering in the legal process by sending the DoJ, FBI and AG Holder to Ferguson, and having them all do what they can to ensure a proper investigation. But if that’s not enough, it won’t be PBO’s fault, it will be down to a Grand Jury that is not willing to make a police officer stand trial for murdering an unarmed teenager.

So, let King and the rest of the self-promoters aim their ire at all those who have enabled and shielded Wilson, not the President who has done everything in his power to try and see justice is done.

And if King thinks he is an authority on racism, he should speak some time to this President and his family and ask them what they have endured for the past six years or so.

          Fuck him.

Just checking back in—–don’t know if this vid has been posted—-of President Obama arriving in In. and having a very lengthy discussion with Gov. Pence, which must have been excruciating. Sounds like Pence may have started to get nervous about not expanding medicaid in his state and is looking for a remedy.

  26. October 3, 2014 at 6:01 pm

The republicans are only interested in the election in one month. They’re only stirring up hornets nests, to see if the public will blame the President.
