Morning everyone. Always remember that it was on October 3, 2012 that the first presidential debate took place and every pundit in the US tried to convince us that the president was doomed. We fought back gloom at that point and we have to fight back today. There are still four weeks to go, which means tens of thousands of phone calls, door knocking and other GOTV events. Four weeks is a lifetime in politics. Let’s make it count.

      Remember it well, JackieG.

The MSM’s reaction (especially Chris Matthews’) shocked me. Could not believe that they watched the same debate as I did — and could not figure out why.

After years of MSM/Koch ODS and now with @NYtimes unfurling their proud racial bigotry, it’s now note-worthy when you stumble across an article about President Obama (or any Dem, for that matter) which doesn’t have a barb or two thrown at Obama/Dems.

My main concern was the Obama’s 20th wedding anniversary, LOL.

That night and the next day were an absolutely vicious pouring on by the media, Arapaho. The message had clearly gone out to destroy Democratic confidence in the president, underline enthusiasm and depress turnout and they are attempting the same thing in 2014. The president proved all them wrong. Our only recourse is to follow his example and double down on our efforts. Right now I’m holding on to that smile on PBO’s face when Steve Kroft asked him if he would hold the Senate. He said “yes.” Remember that and let that be our North Star.

With a few minor edits, repeating what I said on one of last night’s threads:

      * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

All of this news about the Secret Service has my head spinning.

I’m with HF2, wondering where this is coming from and why now?

I’m not a believer in conspiracy theories, but our dishonest and shameless MSM has me wondering about:

      1) Who are the Secret Service “leakers” (Saturday’s blockbuster reveal about 2011 and today’s reveal about 2014 are from WaPo, who cites the same anonymous sources). On Sunday I heard a *single* report about 2011 on CBS radio news, but yesterday and today’s reports about the 2014 incident are blanketing their airwaves.

      2) Darrell Issa must have broken Congressional speed records to convene a hearing on this matter — Congress has more days off than on, and they don’t work on Mondays. Who lit the fire under Issa?

      3) WaPo also cites anonymous tips to the House Oversight Committee on Homeland Security chairman, teabagger Jason Chavetz (R-Utah).

And at the 5 pm PDT hour yesterday on CBS radio news, I heard someone (an author, might have been Ronald Kessler) #BlameObama. He was critical of the arrogance of the Secret Service, and said “It goes back to Obama, who keeps defending them.”

But something is afoot — WaPo was the only news outlet “reporting” this info, and the rest of the MSM/Koch lapdogs have obediently followed suit. Now @PeterMaerCBS refers to CBS’s “independent sources,” but I wonder if these sources are the same ones who spoke to WaPo, or others who don’t like their new (Obama-appointed) boss?

arapaho, I thought the same thing this morning – where is this old news coming from and why now? Is it because of the newly appointed head of the SS – who happens to be a woman? Who are these “whistle-blowers” as I heard they were called this morning on the news?

  10. 29 hopefruit2

Yup, and that alone should alert anyone that all these sudden WH intruder incidents along with media reports of SS negligence going from all the way back to 2011…are someone’s idea – and not someone who is truly concerned about the well being of the President & First Family.

I have to say that I find it ridiculous that some democrats are already going along with the doom and gloom narrative for the senate races. I hear that Mark Begich is done, Bruce Braley is done, Mark Pryor is done, Mary Landrieu is done, and Mark Udall might be done. Yes these races will be tough but I can’t see any evidence that suggests that the Democrats can’t win these races. We have over 30 days which is a lifetime in political campaigns, and right now the democrats are doing really well when it comes to early voting. The Alaska race can go any way since polling has never been that good in Alaska and every poll I see shows a large amount of undecided voters. Braley has not run a solid campaign but he can come back if he stops being nice and goes for the jugular. The good thing is that the democrats have reserved a lot of ad space for the final 4 weeks of the campaign, and the democrats are dominating the early vote. This race like the others can be won.

    • September 30, 2014 at 11:00 am

If they are getting the same “doom and gloom” emails from Democrats that I get everyday is there a wonder?

      • September 30, 2014 at 11:15 am

The daily assault of “doom and gloom” emails is definitely a downer. It might help if they would periodically give some feedback on how the donations are being applied and the hopefully positive results. Some good news AND a reduction in the voluminous requests might cause people to stop ignoring/automatically deleting these email.

        • 47 joyfulmeme

You are right. There are way too many emails sent everyday. I contribute some but not everyday. And, I don’t like the Dems running from the President. Because of that, my donations are down.

  16. September 30, 2014 at 10:47 am

One thing to note, these “bad” polls often look very different if you look at the Registered voters, may have the Dem ahead in in RVs. At this stage of the election they begin to manipulate the LV or Likely voter screen to favor Rs. For instance in the poll below, just out, has Dem generic LV advantage +2 but a +7 generic advantage in RVs. If you look at the internals of polls you can see where this can make a huge difference in the actual polling data. In 2012 the polls were way off in final results which in the end really reflected RVs rather than LVs. The pollsters were playing on the “enthusiasm” gap to skew the voter screen.

    REALLY want this, America???????

    http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/29/us/politics/midterm-elections-house-republicans.html?ref=politics&_r=0

One nominee proposed reclassifying single parenthood as child abuse. Another suggested that four “blood moons” would herald “world-changing, shaking-type events” and said Islam was not a religion but a “complete geopolitical structure” unworthy of tax exemption. Still another labeled Hillary Rodham Clinton “the Antichrist.”

Congressional Republicans successfully ended their primary season with minimal damage, but in at least a dozen safe or largely safe Republican House districts where more mild-mannered Republicans are exiting, their likely replacements will pull the party to the right, a move likely to increase division in an already polarized Congress.

My theory: John McCain is the cause of this. By saying an idiot like Palin was worthy of national office, he unleashed this “I’m ignorant and proud of it and damn it I can run the government!”

And yet he is paraded out every Sunday as an “expert”. The rise of the tea party Congress can be traced back to Sarah Palin.

I’m watching the oversight hearing and I’m not getting a warm and fuzzy from Dir. Pierson. She seems more reactive than proactive. I thought she was brought in to, in part, address some of the issues/scandals that plagued the SS. The fact that there are questions even being raised about the culture, and agents being afraid to express concerns makes me question her effectiveness.

      • September 30, 2014 at 11:33 am

She’s been on the job since February 2013. I agree that everything can’t be changed overnight, but the answers she’s giving does not seem like has a true grasp, or even tried to get a grasp, of what has and is going on.

She seems to be a convenient scapegoat because she is a “PBO hire” – and I see some folks on Twitter taking the GOP/media’s bait in that regard. The incident which occurred in 2011 preceded her – yet we’re only hearing about the details of incident NOW. Sounds to me like someone did not like Pierson in that job and wants her fired — hence all these “mistakes.” My thing is, if she’s incompetent and needs to go, she should, but lets not pretend that the SS follies are all her doing, and therefore the President’s fault because he hired her.

There are some moles in the SS (GOP cells) who are trying to cause trouble….

“So maybe the overall theme here is that Soviet history is worth remembering, so long as it’s not critical, and isolated to victory in a vacuum. The reality is that only the people can decide what monuments are erected and stand in their cities, as they are the ones who have to live with them and be reminded of what they represent. Opinions are varied and often divergent, and it is for this reason that monuments should be unifying and representative of figures or concepts that all of society can rally behind. In the case of Soviet monument to tyrants in Ukraine, that simply isn’t the case, and for many, history is still being written.”

Yesterday, when I saw the witness list, I wondered shy Sullivan was not included since he was director during many of the issues/scandals that are being discussed in this hearing. My conspiracy theory mind has wondered about the intent of some individual agents given their actions.

My lack of warm and fuzzy with Dir. Pierson is more about her performance in this hearing; her seeming inability to answer questions or knowledge gaps about what happened, even in this most recent situation. This may come down to lack preparation. I’m not ready to say she needs to go. That would be the President’s call. *He* is the one who must be satisfied with the job she is doing and I yield to his judgment.

I presumed this is how they were doing it; and know it can be very effective ….

“US warplanes have been flying close air support missions for Iraqi and Kurdish forces through a complex tactical arrangement that avoids having US troops on the front lines to call in the strikes, an Air Force general said Monday.

“We think it’s being very effective right now,” said Air Force Maj. Gen. Jeffrey L. Harrigian, the assistant deputy chief of staff for Operations.

Harrigian said that Kurdish and Iraqi forces in close contact with Islamic State fighters have been calling in suggested targets to U.S joint terminal attack controllers (JTACs) based at Joint Operations Centers in Baghdad and the Kurdish capital of Irbil.

The JTACs then check the suggested targets with live stream video from intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) assets overhead “so that we know where the front lines are” to plan strike missions, Harrigian said.”

Alas, Danny thought it was a good idea to swim after the swans, so we had a lovely scene with me howling from the riverbank for him to come back, then squealing even louder when the angry swan headed straight for him, flapping his wings and doing all kinds of aggressive swanny things, all the time Danny still doggy-paddling towards him and his lady. At which point, he finally got some sense and scarpered.

Folks, plan on seeing a few MSM “polls” along these lines…. –> “do you have more or less confidence in government (wink wink – POTUS) on matters of national security now that you’ve heard about the WH SS security breaches?”

      CNN/ORC has one out Now.

POTUS is at 48% and the GOP is at 39% or so…..different from NBC/WSJ Todd polls out on MTP two days ago.

        Right – so they need to bring his numbers down because the public trusts him too much….which is a major headache for the war-mongering GOP and their friends in the media…;

Yep…….And 65% per CNN/OCR are saying the Economy is their Most important issue. Terror and ISIL were below number 3. NBC/WSJ could not really harp on their lower numbers including saying that Many of Us want boots on the ground. The boots on the ground, per CNN/ORC is conditional……only if the Military is recommending it…….once again…..different from NBC/WSJ.

        Or Muslim.

A KS Chiefs NFLer scored a TD and knelt to Thank Allah….he is a practicing Muslim, and NFL fined him. Today, they are trying to revise their idiocy. Tim Tebow and Many NFLers who did theirs were Never Fined, you see.

I’m for fining any athlete who demonstrates religiously during a sporting event—-just because it is so ridiculous and has no place during any kind of game. No one’s God is deciding which team wins, who scores a touchdown or who shoots the winning basket. Should be banned—-just for the utter stupidity alone.

I have no problem with individual celebrations. It’s part of sports. My only objection is when it is censored for some and allowed for others.
Sports are emotions, body and loads of money.
It is what a few gets to do. They trained hard and they get to decide how to celebrate for a few seconds.

Disagree—-don’t believe that it’s “part of sports”. Why would it be? What in the world does any religion have to do with sports/playing games?

What next…the shoe size or if he wears boxers or briefs ? Gawd reporters are just awful in this country.

    Good question:

Better Answer: Because the GOP moles in the SS (coordinating with WaPo & MSM) set it up that way. This was PLANNED. They waited until PBO was safely up in the air on his way to camp David, and then allowed that “intruder” to make his way in – all the time KNOWING he was there…..

We can go on that TOD cruise we’ve all been dreaming about if I capture the big one! Girl, it’s great to see you! I think it was Hopefruit (and a couple others) who was asking about you a couple of days ago. 🙂 🙂 🙂
