It’s disgusting how the WaPo is releasing this story drip by drip. They seem to have a sick fascination with spewing intimate details of the White House security, building plan, and other information that should be kept private so as to protect the First Family from any other nut job.
EXACTLY…people are getting bogged down in the minutiae of the WaPo reports, while missing the big picture – which is the WaPo’s perverse obsession with reporting this story in the most sensationalist fashion, not out of concern for the First Family’s safety, but out of a desire to facilitate the GOP’s desire for revenge against PBO and any of his appointees, and their desire to reduce public trust in his ability to maintain reliable security both at home and abroad.
I, agree with you NW, HF, and the other commenters here, I find all these reports coming from WP ill advised and coming to believe well- coordinated with some in congress. This seems more an attack on the administration, than the fact the President and his family were threatened.
This actually is a bright spot of news. There are so many concerning issues about these recent breaches. I hate the drip drip and the way it’s being used against the president. No one was hurt or killed and it’s not a terrorist attack. I’m sure serious reviews are going on.

That line about “all this focus on race makes me uncomfortable” reminded me about a recent experience.
I had a friend of a client say something to me not long ago about how she didn’t like 12 Years a Slave because she said it “didn’t show anything new, just all of these beatings.” She was visibly angry when talking about it and actually said “I get it, we are all terrible people.” I asked her what she meant by “we” (knowing full well what she meant) and she replied “uh, Americans.”. This was after I had told her that I hadn’t see the movie yet because one of my ancestors was also a free man of color and was kidnapped and sold (he was lucky and escaped). I told her that just seeing a scene from the movie was so difficult knowing that my ancestor had been through that same ordeal. It was like she didn’t even hear what I said, she was only thinking of her own anger – anger at the victims because two hours of truth made her feel uncomfortable!
Funny thing is, before that I had assumed she was a nice/cool person, because the client she is friends with is absolutely down and gets it. After that conversation, a wall went up and I will never have a sincere conversation with her again.

I have special contempt for A-A’s who have supposedly “made it” who allow themselves to be puffed up and used by the GOP as a weapon against their community. Allen West would be perfect” to take over as head of the embattled Secret Service because of his “managerial and diplomatic skills.” West, who was forced out of the military, that same day called President Obama a “charlatan” and urged the military to disobey his orders.
Former Secret Service agent and Marine Corps infantry officer Dan Emmett wrote a September 26 PostEverything piece surveying problems with the Secret Service and recommended that current director Julia Pierson be replaced with someone from the military, specifically “a true leader, not a bureaucrat.” He then lobbied for West, writing:
In this role, a true leader, not a bureaucrat, is needed. Someone like Florida congressman and retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Allen West would be perfect for the role.
