Good morning everyone. Still struggling with intestinal problems that got me so down yesterday, I just pulled away for a day. The constant screeching of fundraising e-mails and the calls to do more, no matter how much you do, sometimes gets discouraging. I honestly don’t know how the president gets up every day and faces the piles of crap he has to wade through. But it’s a new week and who knows what good news is on the horizon.

    • September 29, 2014 at 7:46 am

Good Morning, JackieG. I hope you start feeling better soon.

I agree about the fundraising e-mails. It seems that there is no mechanism in place to note when people respond. The solicitations continue with the messages of doom. I can’t imagine they will get worse, but then again….as we get closer to election day, they just might.

I hope you feel better today, jackie. Take good care.

Pace yourself, Jackie! It’s okay to take a day or two off. I agree about those desperate emails and have told any DCCC, DNC, or DSCC solicitor who calls me that I think they are overkill. Occasionally, I have tried to reply to one of those with the same message. Now I just delete them after giving what I can in races that will matter (e.g. Mark Udall). Democrats have a proud record of accomplishment with President Obama to run on. They should be emphasizing all the good they have done with NO help from the GOP.

I missed the 60 minutes interview with PBO, but read the summaries tweeted by NW….THANKS NW!!!

I woke up this morning with MSM screeching about the inevitability of boots on the ground (or ramped up their chant, since that’s been a part of their continuous drum beat in recent weeks). That this is not a U.S. war seems to escape their senses, or is just being ignored. That there are 30 to 40 + countries partnering in this counter-terrorism campaign means nothing.

They are using this opportunity to Obama bash with statements that he got it wrong (not what the intelligence indicated). Even getting a statement from Mr. “we don’t want to take a vote” Boehner that we *have* to send in ground troops or they’re going to attack us.

BTW…I’m noticing that GOP candidates are managing to include “ISIS” in their campaign ads every chance they get.

SW, ISIS (L) is the scare du jour that the media and the GOP will use to hype up fear of PBO and Democrats until the election and stupid people will go right along with it. There should be a new word in the dictionary for the level of Boehner’s hypocrisy. That man knows nothing, does nothing, but bleats lies every time he opens his mouth. The US has had some lousy Speakers of the House over the years, but this one is the worst in history. Such a disgrace to the office and to our democracy.

I got a request to attend some phonebanking sessions at the DCCC HQ here in DC. I’ll go but they’re gonna here from me about these ridiculous gloom and doom emails. I know this stuff was poll tested during the general election but PBO is not on the ticket. People are not emotionally attached to these candidates as they are to PBO. These emails have a different affect on people and it isn’t positive or inspiring anyone to donate. They need to stop this! I had no idea that their HQ was only a couple of blocks from where I work. I’m looking forward to giving them my time and a piece of my mind!!

    Everyone have a great O’Day

    Off to work I go…..

      Tell ’em Donna!
I’ve fought the urge to opt of receiving emails from them, but have gotten in the habit of just deleting straight away based on subject line.

    • September 29, 2014 at 8:59 am

      You GO, Donna.

      Repeating my comment from above:

Yesterday’s “I’M BEGGING YOU” subject line was it for me. I’m sick of their groveling negative emails. It’s just really embarrassing to be solicited this way, especially when there have been so very many times Dems have quivered on key issues and undermined our POTUS. I’m sick and tired of the doom and gloom, it is completely DE-motivating and doesn’t inspire anybody to give or volunteer with such desperation. This is not rocket science, DCCC!!

    • September 29, 2014 at 8:59 am

Donna, please do tell them about their napalm-of-negativity. Thanks>>

Donna, thank you, thank you, thank you on behalf of all of us. Most of the people they tell me I should be (enraged, discouraged, angry, excited) about I have never even heard of. And the worst is the scolding e-mail, which always comes within an hour after I’ve scraped together something to donate, telling me I haven’t given anything. Fear is not a motivator unless you’re trying to get someone to delete your e-mail. Anyway, please let us know what happens.

    • September 29, 2014 at 9:35 am

If they weren’t coming (what seems like) hourly and daily, they might be more effective. As it is, it has the “boy who cried wolf” effect and people are not paying as much attention anymore. Delete is becoming the conditioned response without even reading them.

    Morning!! Obama’s fault!

Rising incomes helped American consumers spend more in August, a positive sign for the U.S. economy which appears to be shifting into a higher gear.

The Commerce Department said on Monday consumer spending rose 0.5 percent last month after being unchanged in July. The growth in August was just above the median forecast in a Reuters poll of a 0.4 percent gain.

Spending was 0.5 percent higher even after adjusting for inflation. Some of the strength in spending came from a decrease in the personal saving rate, which slipped to 5.4 percent from 5.6 percent.

Personal income rose 0.3 percent following a 0.2 percent rise the month before, in line with forecasts.
