Good to see you, hope you saw President Obama’s historic speech this morning.
Very grave situation in the world right now, with atrocious “media” killings happening to innocent helpers in Syria to Algeria.
Here’s an article I hope you (or hubby) have the opportunity to read about the possibility of wind captured near Cheyenne to bring power (more than the Hoover Dam generates) to California, with storage caves in Utah.
The article is behind @WSJ’s paywall, but you can Google “Companies Propose $8 Billion Green Energy Project for Los Angeles” — Jovie posted an AP tweet on this subject earlier today too.
4 Companies Propose $8 Billion GreenEnergy Project for CA using WY wind stored in Utah.
Would be operational in 2023.
http://t.co/Q36n37T7Y5
yes, this has been in our local paper too but only subscribers can read it. But unfortunately the governor and sen Enzi are having a rally for coal and against EPA regulations. Coal companies paying expenses.
Humans need electricity/power in order to thrive and be productive, but not by exploiting worker bees, which is what coal companies do, as you and your hubby know first hand.
Wyoming needs progressive politicians and leaders in the forefront of transitioning from coal/fracking, etc. to clean energy. Priority should be given to not displacing workers currently employed by dirty energy — WY and other coal-rich states don’t need northeast elites who have never gotten their hands dirty coming in and taking clean energy jobs.
Younger workers can be re-trained, older workers have proven their manual dexterity and should be offered jobs that utilize those skills — if older workers are resistant to new jobs, they should be offered early retirement with full pension benefits.
I will be glad to let you all know. I didn’t know she was speaking, as I said I came in here to Obama diary to see what was going on and I check the tweets on the side and I saw that she were to speak at 3pm. It was 3:30pm so I went to searching and found her. But I will let you all know next time.
I don’t know whether it should be attributed to the translator, but Cristina’s speech looks more like a list of complaints, or the speech of a victim seeking sympathy. Am I wrong?
I am in total agreement No Child. She went over her time frame, and I am glad PBO called her out. She is the type who will ask US for help if something happened to her country, but she sat there and aired all of her lifetime complaints. No offense to anyone, but I also noticed the botox.
She was complaining being a target. Who is not? Does POTUS start by saying that the assassins named him in a video? I don’t know what she wanted from the Council. She was all over the place. She should spend more time preparing her speeches and less on her royal outfits.
Indeed, she stood out in so many not-good ways, many WTF?!? moments. Delighted to hear PBO call her out – and think it was all her, not the translator.
If my lips were swollen and sore from too much collagen/botox, I guess I would be complaining too. Even if my complaints had nothing to do with the reason for my complaining in the first place! š
The most that I could get from her rambling speech was that in the 90’s her country did not get the helpnthat they wanted and that her country does not have a dog in this fight. Er major concern is that her country is oil dependent so really what do we want from her country? She spent too much time trying to take other countries to task and brought nothing to the conversation other than a waste of time.
Of the dozens of speeches by world leaders, advocates, and movie stars at the UN climate summit on Tuesday, none garnered as strong a reaction as that of the poet Kathy Jetnil-Kijiner. The 26-year-old from the Marshall Islands, a tiny Pacific nation, recited a poem she wrote for her 7-month-old daughter. To a hushed audience, she told of a homeland under grave threat from a rising ocean: āWe look at our children and wonder how they will know themselves or their culture, should they lose our islands.ā
The Marshall Islands, which sits about halfway between the US state of Hawaii and Australia, is comprised of a set of low-lying, ring-shaped islands, none higher than 6 feet above sea level. The Marshall Islandsā foreign minister, Phillip Muller, told The Guardian last year, āThe longer we wait, Iām afraid we may reach the point of no return.ā…continued
Take a few minutes to watch this….Her poem begins around the 2:30 mark:
GWB had no idea about the necessity for a coalition, nor any care. He just wanted to be the big cowboy-shoot from the hip, decider guy. Every decision he made was lethal. This ISIS is another result of GWB’s horrors. I wonder how many presidents are going to be cleaning up after GWB? I loved CEB’s post about the horror of GWB’s eight years. He expressed my feelings so beautifully.
I need to be caught up…..I see the term Daesh is now used here instead of ISIS or ISIL. What is the translation of that term? I assume it’s from another language. Also, why is this term now used? Inquiring mind wants to know…..
In regard to the Russian, I found everything that he said ( I stopped listening to him after the first few minutes) deeply ironic considering what his country is doing in the Ukraine.
Part of the motivation for my tweet to @VP, above, is just how much actual as well as moral damage GWB and his gang did to America.
It’s not as if our adventures in Iran in 1953, in Cuba, in numerous SA countries, in Vietnam, as well as, our asymmetric relationship with Israel re: Palestine, hadn’t already enabled real tyrants (e.g. Putin and his lackey Lavrov) to taunt us, but what they GWB & gang did in Iraq and failed to do after 9/11, effectively, in Afghanistan has made President Obama and his team’s efforts that much more difficult (along with creating much of the terrorist challenge humanity now faces).
What amazes is just how far and how profoundly effective President Obama and his team have been, in reality, despite all our past, truly horrific and immoral actions.
PBo has run from meeting to meeting today; I hope that he managed to squeeze in some lunch at some time. Our energizer Bunny looks like he has lost weight. Glad that he will be going home this evening.
Ed didn’t seem to like Senator Boxer’s response that she agreed with what the President is doing. That this is not war, but a counter terrorism campaign. That the world is changing and the approach used needs to change as well; thus the partners…especially the Middle East partners.
Ed seemed very disappointed.
“Some people ” think he should have asked for a vote. I don’t agree. There is nothing in the Constitution requiring a President to ask for a vote….Congress can do that on their own…they are just cowards. They all sound like little children whining to their mother.
What did he call Bush who did NOTHING? Bush made friends with Gaddahi, Never looked for Osama Bin Laden, and only saw the blue eyed goodness of Putin’s soul when Putin invaded Georgia.
I am not sure of their status, but there were other countries who are not members, but spoke to the issue of foreign fighters. I know that Germany does have a dog in this fight, so I was wondering where they were.
Three meetings in one day, phew! How does PBO do it and with such grace and humor (expressed a bit in the last meeting)? It was also wonderful and uplifting in so many ways to see that most of the days actions resulted from steps that he has made. The respect of the world’s leaders for this uncommon man touches me deeply. As I have said so many times, we are blessed to have him. Change has indeed come.
I believe Open Government Partnership was an effort launched by POTUS 3 years ago. It was well represented. All the statements and declarations were superb. PBO was very proud and solicited by many afterwards. Just ended.
Hi.
Twice in a row.
No Child how do you get these images into WordPress and where did you get it? Oh and btw, G’day everyone.
Yardarm,
Anywhere there is a picture, right-click to copy and paste here. If it is a jpg or gif, chances are the picture will work with WordPress.
I’ll give it a try later on ’cause I got a ton of stuff I think? š
Congrats NCLB! š
You get the gold No Child

That is so sad, CM.

So agree Arapaho. So glad Hubby retired in Jan. So is he. Yes, I did get to see the speech live. It was great to hear first thing in morning. š
Thank you Chips for opening the doors just in time… for me to arrive first. Or, as someone famous always says, FURST.

Watching my POTUS will devoted attention.
“with” and not will.
My president looks so commanding and sexy as he chairs this meeting.
I love that he stuck by Ms. Powers and Ms. Rice. Loyalty.
Exactly. You can’t buy his brand of loyalty – nor theirs. It’s a beautiful thing.
NCLB, Wow…..another Au ā š
Thanks, Nena.
And Knoller’s head explodes at the way the world looks up to PBO for leeadership
Wow…even China and Russia vote YES!…..this is a BFD
With One semester French…..I can Only understand Daesh….Terror….PBO….
Grand Jury had dropped the Charges…..
But Now, DoJ will take a look.
Enjoying listening to FranƧois Hollande and the president of Tchad in their tongues.
Anyone listening to the Argentine President??
Yes. See my comments below, posted before I hit “refresh”.
Just finish listening to FLOTUS speak on education for girls. Now I will go back to see what POTUS is doing.
A wonderful speech from FLOTUS.
When was she speaking? Was there live streaming??
Chipsticks, I click onto ow.ly/BSyuV.
I was checking out @flotus tweets and that is where I saw that she was speaking.
Could you give us all a heads-up next time?
š
Hello smilie!!
Okay, thanks, I didn’t know FLOTUS was speaking today.
I will be glad to let you all know. I didn’t know she was speaking, as I said I came in here to Obama diary to see what was going on and I check the tweets on the side and I saw that she were to speak at 3pm. It was 3:30pm so I went to searching and found her. But I will let you all know next time.
Argentina
I don’t know whether it should be attributed to the translator, but Cristina’s speech looks more like a list of complaints, or the speech of a victim seeking sympathy. Am I wrong?
I’m thinking the same thing. Apparently all that lip collagen is bothering her and she’s confusing the two issues.
I am in total agreement No Child. She went over her time frame, and I am glad PBO called her out. She is the type who will ask US for help if something happened to her country, but she sat there and aired all of her lifetime complaints. No offense to anyone, but I also noticed the botox.

NC, HF, & COS, I agree with everything you all said. And I too am glad that our Leader “checked her”. No one is above the rules of the road.
That President Obama just makes me PROUD of him each and every day!!! WooooWeeeee!
Cristina Fernandez, please what is your point???
The President of Argentina is a complainer….
If my lips were swollen and sore from too much collagen/botox, I guess I would be complaining too. Even if my complaints had nothing to do with the reason for my complaining in the first place! š
LOL.
Hahahahaha! HF!
Oh ok! š
That statement underlines the character of the person that tweeted. He is a fool.
The unknown Tweeter is The Donald š
sad he can’t accept responsibilities for his own actions.
The most that I could get from her rambling speech was that in the 90’s her country did not get the helpnthat they wanted and that her country does not have a dog in this fight. THIS!!!
What a difference at listening to the King, his Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein? I hope Cristina and her team from Argentina take notice.
Sorry for the errors. Hard to type on kindle fire.

You’re right LP – she did a wonderful job and her poem to her baby was just precious.
Did I miss the President’s address to UN Security Council?
Yes…..Chips posted it…..last Thread.
Here it is. It was Brilliant.
Thank you!
Totally!

The French are so good at insults.
Thanks Carolyn; btw, I am a she (smile).
Are you another Carol or Carolyn? š
I am one of the Carla’s.
Another variation. š
Was surprised by the quality of PM Abbott’s statement ….
I was pleasantly surprised as well.
In regard to the Russian, I found everything that he said ( I stopped listening to him after the first few minutes) deeply ironic considering what his country is doing in the Ukraine.
Agree, CEB.

He knows exactly whom he’s referring …
So do we …
Rouhani has been sending nuanced tweets throughout the day, some even very spicy.
Guess what headline I saw Jake Tapper? The airstrikes against ISIS, is the U.S. winning?
But he was so sure……The Flight Suit and The Mission Accomplished Banner were Just Masterful and Perfection to the highest level.
Heads up
5:15 EDT: President Obama Attends a Meeting of the Open Government Partnership
Thanks for the link; I just left the other meeting.
What did Edward Snowden win? Wtf?
Nothing of importance. so you can happily go back to doing your laundry jovie…or taking your yellow lab for her daily evening walk. š
Hey Hopefruit, I see the Guardian editor was one of the four who won the wacky Nobel with Snowden …. but not Rio Boy. Bruised ego alert!1!1!
Ed seemed very disappointed.
swbluega I sense that Ed did not like what she was saying. You could look at his face as she talk.
“Some people ” think he should have asked for a vote. I don’t agree. There is nothing in the Constitution requiring a President to ask for a vote….Congress can do that on their own…they are just cowards. They all sound like little children whining to their mother.
One person said that POTUS could have asked for a vote, but this person also said that Congress could have done the job they were elected to do.
Dim Ed with the Big Mouth strikes again.
Did anyone beside me see the support Senator Boxer gave to our President on Ed?.
I did….big tuff Ed needs a diaper….he is terrified of everything, just like Tweety.
It was all over my TL. Good for her!
What did he call Bush who did NOTHING? Bush made friends with Gaddahi, Never looked for Osama Bin Laden, and only saw the blue eyed goodness of Putin’s soul when Putin invaded Georgia.
The World does pay attention to what DC is doing.
Shame of McConnell and Boehner.
I really like the voice of the Prime Minister from the Netherlands.
PBO is here!
Where is Germany? I have been watching from the beginning, but no one from there has spoken.
Sorry, CEB. http://www.whitehouse.gov/live/president-obama-attends-meeting-open-government-partnership
That’s where I meant. The link was provided by Chips at the beginning of the post.
CEB, ignore previous reply. I read you completely wrong.
Chips got it right.
http://www.un.org/en/ga/69/meetings/gadebate/
The above link gives you a list of speakers.
Hiya CEB, I don’t think Germany has a seat on the Security Council, or at least a permanent one, so – help?? – is that why?
I am not sure of their status, but there were other countries who are not members, but spoke to the issue of foreign fighters. I know that Germany does have a dog in this fight, so I was wondering where they were.
Ah, okay, thanks, I missed most of it today so didn’t know who was speaking.
If anyone wants to continue watching the Open Government Partnership Forum, I believe this link will work.

Brought about by our PBO; this is how a coalition is built.
there is NO EXCUSE for the American press to not praise this. And yet they won’t – on any front.
Maddening beyond belief.
Where to jump in?
PBO had to pose for photos!
I believe Open Government Partnership was an effort launched by POTUS 3 years ago. It was well represented. All the statements and declarations were superb. PBO was very proud and solicited by many afterwards. Just ended.
