Hi Nerdy, Thanks for the really great collection of tweets.

As noted at the bottom of the previous thread, I’ve been waiting a long time to post this tweet. A convergence of events at the UN seemed to be the time to do so. Have no illusion SL will ever see it, let alone consider it. However, an enormous number of current and future problems could be resolved by taking the actions recommended. I assure you, I’ve thought about it, a lot, and the list is very, very long and even the ‘unintended consequences’ are likely to be far more positive than not.

Make them short, sweet and on target…then leave the people of Syria to themselves. ISIS is a cancer that needs to be cut out.

The onslaught of Daesh on Kobane was going to be the same type of tragedy as Mt Sinjar would have been if President Obama had not intervened. Not knowing any details I suspect that that immanent catastrophe plus Daesh C&C being centralized in al-Raqqa are at the core of the strikes.

      September 22, 2014 at 9:56 pm

I am so hoping that some of these targets are designed to assist the Kurdish forces in Kobane. Just heartbreaking to see what ISIL is doing to the people there.

      • September 22, 2014 at 10:07 pm

Agree, Foxfire. Whatever is left of Daesh after tonight, they’re going to have little motivation or capacity to continue at Kobane. Moreover, given how aggressively President Obama protected the Yazidis on Mt Sinjar, I’m certain he did all he could to avert further genocide at Kobane.

The MSM’s response to Syrian airstrikes makes me nauseous.

    They cannot contain their excitement.

While in O/T tweets/RTs blame the war on Obama.

Have I mentioned how much I hate MSM/Koch (rhetorical question)?

    • 50 hopefruit2
      September 22, 2014 at 10:03 pm

Actually, I think they’re more pissed than excited (check Andrea Mitchell – she’s unhinged on MSNBC). They really wanted this to be a boots-on-the-ground war. And the fact that there a quite a few Arab countries alongside the US also bombing….I don’t think they like that.

      • 51 arapaho415
        September 22, 2014 at 10:40 pm

Yes, they downplay the 40 (or is it 60 now?) countries that have signed on against ISIS.

And of course you’re right — MSM are bloodthirsty bastards that want to blame Obama for “another Vietnam quagmire” — most MSM headlines are stupidly comparing the current situation to GWB’s Iraq invasion. They’re about as different as can be, and today’s crisis is a direct result of GWB/Cheney/Rumsfeld lust for oil and contractor enrichment.

It’s almost comical how desperate the MSM are for PBO not to succeed. And they still haven’t learned, and won’t until Jan 20, 2017, that they will continue saying “Curses, foiled again” (apology to Dick Dastardly).

With the GOP now onboard with funding action against ISIS, expect even more desperate measures from MSM/Koch for the next six weeks.

Shep Smith,… per a Vid I had seen over the weekend had stated, while interviewing Josh “The Voice” Earnest last week…..said that If SArabia joins in fighting to defeat ISIL in Syria, Shepard Smith would bet all his $$$$ earned at Fox…….So if this is true, SA is helping, I hope, that JoshE reminds ShepS of his bet.

Now if something could be done about Turkey. What a hell of a partner (NOT) it has turned out to be, open border, buying oil from the terrorists, refusing to engage. Seems to me that Erdogan is setting his country up to be the next ISIL target. But HUGE props to PBO and Sec Kerry to get the Saudis out there! What a team!

      • September 22, 2014 at 10:22 pm

I suspect Turkey has been hearing from numerous NATO members, especially the US, during the past few weeks and I would not want to be on the receiving end of that conversation.

Both PBO and Sec Kerry have that icy stare that is rarely used but dangerous when it is. Again I am so relieved it is John Kerry in partnership with PBO on this. And I hope at a minimum that the other NATO nations also give Turkey hell for its recalcitrance.
