      LP! congrats on First 🙂

What’s the story about the Auburn QB? I missed all but the teaser, so I don’t know what happened.

      • September 20, 2014 at 11:27 am

I think you mean Florida State’s QB Jamies Winston:

…keep in mind he was accused of sexual assault last year…the girl reported it & FSU police didn’t even begin an investigation until 6 months later. This idiot also won the Heisman trophy last year. He stood up in the student union & yelled some derogatory meme I’ve never heard of “F**k her in the P***y… this while a Title IX investigation & civil suit is still ongoing. He also got caught stealing crab legs from a grocery story this summer & FSU did nothing. After the coach decided to only suspend him for the 1rst half or todays Clemson game (after media pressure)…around 1:00 a.m. last night the school president made it a full game. Right now FSU is ranked the #1 team in the country.

This is probably a game changer…….Breaking overnight

ANKARA, Turkey — Dozens of Turkish hostages seized by the Islamic State group in Iraq were freed Saturday, resolving a serious crisis which Turkish officials had long cited as a reason to avoid moving aggressively against the violent militant group. The 49 hostages were captured from the Turkish Consulate in Mosul, Iraq on June 11, when the Islamic State group overran the city in its surge to seize large swaths of Iraq and Syria. But the circumstances of their release — which drew flag waving crowds to the Turkish capital’s airport — were clouded in mystery. Turkish leaders gave only limited details of the release and the hostages declined to answer all but the most general questions from journalists when they arrived at Ankara airport around midday Saturday.

I don’t care what they say in public…this changes everything. The first sign will be when F-16s are allowed to base/depart from Turkey for sorties

Good Saturday Sunny Morning from the state with 15K Lakes.
Hello TOD and Congrats to LP for the Gold ⭐
With a cup of Large Coffee and concerned and conflicted heart on the Breach at the WH last Night……I started thinking of one Idiot who years ago fired shots at the WH.

No Doubt, with a 400% increase of threats directed at president Obama……coupled with 24/7 hateful attacks by the so called loyal opposition and the relentless savagery non-stop attacks by the Media…….The SService is In_deed doing a great job. I thank them and I am very appreciative of their work.

The First Family is in no danger. This, I believe wholeheartedly.

    Morning again everyone!

The spam-detector thingie here is continuing to act up, grr – it’s being particularly unkind to Bob and LP.

I understand why it picks on comments with lots of tweets/links, it’s detecting them as spam – although it’s annoyingly overruling TOD’s settings which allow for up to 10 links in a comment.

But it’s when TOD regulars saying provocative things like “Hi” end up in spam ….. double grrrr. 😕

I was going to suggest to anyone having a lot of problems to directly contact Akismet, the people who look after spam for WordPress, to get it fixed, but I see they’re taking a break

If any blog-runners have suggestions that could help with this, please leave them here! For now, I *think* the best thing to do is reduce the number of links and tweets in one comment, spread them over a couple of comments – hopefully that will help.

I’ll let you know when Akismet get back to work so you can contact them.

    • September 20, 2014 at 1:19 pm

Thank you very much, Chips. I have tried to limit to 2 or 3 links, and even with 2, several of those comments either didn’t appear at all or appeared with a ‘moderator’ notice. What annoys me is that it takes your time and that of others (like LL and NW) to find and release the comments. I will certainly communicate with akismet whenever they’re receiving comments.

The man who shot a semi-automatic assault rifle at the White House in 2011 was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Monday for terrorism and related weapons offenses.

Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, 23, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, drove across the country for the Nov. 11, 2011 attack. He fired at least eight rounds from an AK-47-style rifle pointed out the passenger-side, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

Disturbing details released Monday afternoon show Ortega-Hernandez had a troubled history and warned friends in Idaho on numerous occasions that he was “on a mission from God to take out” President Barack Obama.

“He was motivated by hatred for the President and the desire to start a revolution against the federal government,” U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. said in a statement. “We are very fortunate that his bullets narrowly missed the U.S. Secret Service officers guarding the White House that night.”

And Now this 42 years old Omar, who jumped the fence and was stopped as he went very close in to the WH.

No links……to the former…..Only my observation. President Obama has done more for the Hispanic Community.
The language coming from some activists against pres Obama is concerning. The disrespect. The accusations. My call coming this Monday to Rep Gutierrez would be on this issue.

There are a few political figures around who incited and continue to incite this type of action. If only they could also have to pay for what they do.

Oh Jesus H. Christ this is going to be a long day at work. Had the worst insomnia overnight. If I slept an hour I’d be surprised. If there were 3 of us working today, I’d call in. Unfortunately it’s just me and the other librarian, so I can’t leave him alone.

One of the nicest things about being retired – if you can’t sleep at night – get up and chat to the other half of the world – and sleep during the day. Tricky when you have a job!

      • September 20, 2014 at 11:25 am

Considering my vast experience with insomnia as a youngster, I know I should have gotten up and changed my sleep location. But I’m stubborn.

I find my only solution is to get up and do something – the sooner I get up – the sooner I get back to bed and sleeping. I hope you survive the day awake & sleep well tonight.

Of course stop and frisk has nothing to do with violent crime; it’s all about abuse of power by harassing minorities and the poor. https://twitter.com/FORUS50/status/513339212968783874

It opened my eyes to how we, as a human race, are still enormously ignorant to the physiological and physiological complexity of sexuality. Both in science and society we are still in the Dark Ages on that subject and moving so slowly due to the religious and moral beliefs of so many who choose to blame and castigate instead of permitting an environment of learning and understanding. Charles Blow writes about it in a way that may be considered groundbreaking.

This is NOT the first thing BriWi has got wrong! It is the first time NBC has admitted it…..but where was BriWi’s full throated admission of being wrong? This so obviously illustrates their agenda…..not reporting facts, but opinions and wishes. NBC has shown they cannot be believed. They are losing all credibility…..but so are the other two, if not already lost. Shameful.

From what I’ve read, David Cameron and the Queen owe Gordon Brown quite a bit. I sense that Brown’s star is in the ascendant, compared to Cameron’s.
