A simply brilliant collection of tweets Nerdy, thank you so so so much for this.

“He explains that the airport holds strategic significance for the terrorists. If they secure the airport, the Russians would be able to supply aircraft to the rebels. Naturally, such military airplanes would be provided by the neighbouring country under the pretense of being from the so-called DNR and LNR.

Many other Donbas natives joined Battalion Dnipro as well. They say that they experienced the real DNR back when all this began. They made the decision to take up arms against terrorism, not only to bring it to an end on their home territory, but also to defend Ukraine as a whole.

Patriots from many different professions now stand shoulder to shoulder at the front lines. Where they previously held pens, well known authors Borys Humeniuk and Serhii Pantiuk now hold automatic rifles. It is not only bullets that are being fired from out of the trenches, but words as well.”

An incredibly courageous self disclosure by Charles Blow. Very revealing and helpful I should think to others about the whole issue of one’s sexuality, and the impact of abuse.

      • September 20, 2014 at 9:57 pm

Thank you, vc, I’m back at school and have also been battling a weird virus for about three weeks. I come and look through the top of some threads, but that’s all. However things are calming down at school so I may be back more often. How have you been?

Happy to see you’re conquering the virus, Maryl! Quite a few of our regulars have been hit by one thing or another this past ‘summer’, but it’s encouraging to hear most have been bouncing back. I still haven’t seen Layla, and someone was asking about HZ recently too.

I’ve been fine, running hither and thither and yon while trying to maintain my ‘quiet’ reputation in the village. 😉

      • September 20, 2014 at 10:44 pm

        Good Evening TODVille,

I am livid! I was out today and have just returned to read that another fence jumper made an attempt today.

From CNN: On Saturday, in the second security incident at the White House in as many days, an individual failed to stop at the entrance to the White House complex while driving his vehicle, Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary said.

The man, identified as Kevin Carr of Shamong, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with unlawful entry, Leary said. According to Leary, Carr is either 18 or 19 years old.

The incident happened at the entrance at 15th and E Streets, where the driver did not stop when the Secret Service ordered him to do so, Leary said.

The man’s car did not hit the barriers at the entrance, and he then exited the vehicle, Leary said.

Carr was arrested after he refused to leave, Leary said.

The Secret Service said it would interview personnel and review policies and security procedures following the fence-jumping incident.

The agency said its director, Julia Pierson, ordered additional patrol officers around the White House complex. This happened before Saturday’s security incident.

Now, what’s going on? Since when the WH fence had become an attraction for wackos, crazies, illuminés, and lost fools from New Jersey???

Somebody should be fired over these repeated incidents. And definitely, the fences need to be risen twice their height and, as per advice from the GOP once, electrified.

        I am livid.

        • September 20, 2014 at 10:55 pm

You have every justification to be livid, NCLB.

“Somebody should be fired over these repeated incidents.”

          Yes, definitely.

However, I think they should LOWER the height of the fence & make it clear that if you jump the fence YOU’RE Gonna Be SHOT.

          • September 20, 2014 at 11:00 pm

Bob, that’s a good idea. But there will be too many fools with PSD, ADD, PTD, you name it, that would later claim that they didn’t know the WH lawn was a forbidden area.

There should be an outside investigation of the Secret Service. Something is just too wrong here.

            • September 20, 2014 at 11:12 pm

An investigation is definitely warranted. But, I don’t care what excuse someone would try to make, post facto, it should be absolutely clear – just as with a mine field – you clear the fence, you buy lead poisoning, hot and immediately.

An Iraq Vet? Jesus of Nazareth.

Now a Knife? I thought 1st he was unarmed. Then he was armed with ammos and now, yielding a Knife?

      • September 20, 2014 at 10:53 pm

        From WaPo:

In many scenarios, if a jumper ignores officers’ demands to stop, a canine-team handler will release a Belgian Malinois — a breed chosen because it is considered highly intelligent — to stop the runner.

It typically takes a person sprinting across the grounds at least 20 to 25 seconds to run from the fence line to the mansion. Canine teams are trained to have the dog in position to be released within four seconds of the alarm sounding. The dog is trained to act as a missile, launching in the air to knock the subject down, and then biting an arm or leg if need be to subdue the person until the handler arrives.

But the dog was not released in this case, according to officials’ review of the event and video evidence from Friday night. The Secret Service’s security review will look closely at why.

“We’re asking, why not release the dog?” said one law enforcement person who is reviewing the incident. “That would have stopped this.”

I AM ASKING: Why not sniper the fence jumper????

I shared a snippet earlier stating that Booman (of BoomanTribune) is apparently unwell. I happen to know that a couple of you here occasionally comment at the site, so in case you can help here is another appeal…..
A Modest Proposal (i.e., plea for help) -by Steven D – Sat Sep 20th, 2014 at 08:48:04 PM EST

I just lost a draft of the post I was going to put up here tonight, so I’ll cut to the chase. I do not know the details of Booman’s medical condition. Nor do I know how long he will need to recover enough of his strength to resume posting on a full time basis. That information is private and not something I’m going to ask of his family. If they want us to know more about how he’s doing, I’m sure someone will tell us.

What I do know is that I cannot replace him. I don’t have the energy or the ability to post the quality of the material Marty produces here on a regular basis for however long it takes for Marty to return. However, all of us – you and I – who are members of the Frog Pond, as a community, do. There are any number of great writers and political analysts and just good old-timey, bring-the-house-down preachers here to fill the void Martin’s enforced absence has created until he can recover and kick us off his lawn.

In short, I’m asking for your help.

I’m asking that any member here who is willing to write diaries or send me good material………………….

  29. September 20, 2014 at 11:28 pm

time to prepare some dinner, but ….

The Secret Service really needs to adopt an absolutely unambiguous policy and post warnings, accordingly. I am totally intolerant of the current protocol. Period.

And, I’m going to be insistent on this issue – irrespective of who the President of the USA is.

    Why you ask?

The commercial airliner that “crashed” in PA was the one that was to hit the WH. What we learned in the past 24h is that that was total overkill by Osama. All he needed to do was arm a jihadist sprinter with 10-15 kilos of Semtex and have him run into the WH.

    • 131 vcprezofan2
      September 20, 2014 at 11:32 pm

O Bobfr, please, please don’t say that jihadist sprinter bit aloud.

    • 132 vcprezofan2
      September 20, 2014 at 11:38 pm

I haven’t said much about this man over the fence scenario, I think because I know the Os weren’t there AND because I keep telling myself that with this wake up call the SS will wake (pardon me) the hell up! The second attempt in 24hrs does give me pause because the man is still standing, but I’m counting to ten ……. several times… to keep calm as I wait to see what the SS puts into play.

      • September 21, 2014 at 2:34 am

Dear VC, we must be LOUD and UNRELENTING. That dude announced to every enemy of America that all they need is a fast dude/chick with a few kilos of Cemetex & a trigger strapped to their body to do massive damage to the White House.

I will insist, incessantly, that the Secret Service announce that any person violating the perimeter of the White House and ANY other Federal facility will be shot. Period.

          September 21, 2014 at 3:15 pm

I support the second part of your comment wholeheartedly, Bfr. The first part ‘worries’ me, because it’s so specific. I worry some idiot with evil intent who hadn’t really worked out his MO, might get some specifics from your comment. I have to admit to you that each time I see this particular thought in a tweet I do cringe. I know it’s nothing more than the truth that the very fact the guy got inside so quickly and without effective confrontation sends a message to the enemy, but I’m uneasy in specifying so exactly how the enemy could use it, Just me…just saying.

I meant to post the President’s proclamation yesterday – somebody else may have done so, already – for National POW-MIA Recognition Day.

If you’ve never seen the website for the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (Until They Are Home), here it is:

The Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command conducts global search, recovery and laboratory operations to identify unaccounted-for Americans from past conflicts in order to support the Department of Defense’s personnel accounting efforts.

The command is located on the island of Oahu in Hawaii and was activated Oct. 1, 2003. In June 2013 JPAC opened a satellite labratory at Offutt AFB, Neb. Employing more than 500 joint military and civilian personnel, JPAC continues its search for the fullest possible accounting of the more than 83,000 Americans still unaccounted for from past conflicts.

Here’s information on the POW-MIA Flag and the National League of POW-MIA Families:

And not that I’m going to watch the full video again, but here’s where former POW John McCain was so disrespectful, rude, bitter, and obnoxious with the league’s then-chairwoman, in 2008 and one of the reasons why he should not be holding any elected office or even be able to walk the streets of America as a citizen:

    Good night TOD.
