hey,now. What’s this I hear about someone sauntering across the White House lawn? I know it has happened in the past, but why has this one gotten so much attention?
So, I made some snarky comments about #Gamergate on Twitter (which I had no idea about) and enraged gamers with 10-20 followers gave me the what for. It was rather hilarious.
I’m still trying to get over Axelrod/Milliband vs. Messina/Cameron in the upcoming elections… the Milliband that works as a NGO know seems the more vibrant of candidates….don’t know how that internal power play went down, but I don’t think Cameron is going to lose next year.

I don’t follow sports, but the NFL and NBA seem to be rotten to the core.
The owners, GMs, etc., operate by their own set of rules; i.e., they think they’re above the law, no doubt because they are above the law when it comes to paying taxes (i.e., contributing to their local community):
It seems unhealthy for so many people to fork out so much money every month so that they can ignore what’s going on around them when they’re out and about.

Albuquerque PD are under DOJ review after shooting and killing a homeless (white) man on a hiking trail earlier this year — apparently ABQPD impose death sentences for illegal camping. The homeless man was leaving the campsite, and was surrounded by about a dozen ABQPD who killed him when he said “Don’t shoot.” It’s all on video, and @Lawrence played it several times on in-depth segments on this in April.
ABQ city council has responded to the DOJ investigation, and this is now awaiting the Mayor’s signature.
Let’s see how responsive St. Louis County is. I’ve mentioned before that to under county jurisdiction (instead of city) effectively means you’re under no jurisdiction. And of course TODville is well aware of what a divisive (i.e., bigoted white elite) figure their County Prosecutor is.
Somewhere I read an article about someone from Russia, or formerly from Russia, predicting that Russia could break apart and/or have other serious crises within 1.5-2 years. I lost the link and have been trying to google it, without success. Does anyone else remember it?

about the WH fence jumper and the perimeter security:
– remember that after 9/11 a portion of the streets around the WH were closed off to all kinds of traffic – including pedestrian traffic;
– if I recall correctly, there was a segment of this country (elected officials and regular citizens) who vehemently protested these extra measures of security;
– result: some of the WH blockage was removed as people insisted that they will not be cowered by terrorists;
– the desire to give citizen some amount of freedom to approach The People’s House probably influences the nature of the WH perimeter fence;
-remember the lady who rammed the WH gate & was later shot dead?
I wonder if the fact that her family is suing the US SS and DC Police, has some bearing on the caution and choice to shot intruders on the spot;

Washington (CNN) — A man jumped the fence at the White House late Friday and made it through the North Portico doors into the building before he was captured, Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary told CNN.
Part of the White House was evacuated after a disturbance was detected on the North Lawn, according to a CNN reporter who was among those hustled from the building.
The suspect, 42-year-old Omar Gonzalez of Texas, was apprehended just after making it inside the doors. He was taken to George Washington Medical Center for a medical evaluation, Leary said.
“The incident is under investigation and the U.S.S.S. will review the response, to make sure proper protocol was followed,” he said.
It’s unclear how Gonzalez made his way onto the grounds.
The incident occurred shortly after President Obama and his daughters departed the South Lawn on their way to Camp David.
“This time they were very serious about getting us all out of the White House very quickly,” she said.
Good morning to everyone. Been up since 6:00 on this Saturday morning. Hiker husband is doing some AT miles in the Smokies. To get to the few AT miles he needs over there, he has to do some extra miles. Is meeting a friend and they will shuttle one car to where they will end. Doing around 14 miles today. Monday afternoon, he will head out to northeast TN — and will walk south — to complete his entire 2, 185 miles. Finishing at Fontana Dam (TVA).
