If anybody was seen treating a dog that way, they would be in jail so quick. There really are people who think it is okay to treat kids worse than dogs.

Spoken like someone who does not have children and does not have a clue. Dog trainers do not advocate for hitting your animals so why would you hit a child?

LOL – Clueless-as-ever Don Lemon gets paid to run his mouth and talk crap on CNN – now he’s pushing the Right Wing evangelical narrative of “spear the rod and spoil the child”…the same idiot who said that Black men had to stop wearing sagging pants in order to not get pulled over by cops….

I used to think Don Lemon was one of the ones at CNN who was good at his job, now I wonder.

    • 11 dotster3
      September 18, 2014 at 11:22 am

Lemon must be a disciple of Focus on the Family’s whackobird founder, evangelical freak James Dobson, who wrote in his book the most disgusting, disturbing passage about taking his belt to his “pet” Dachshund and beating him up one wall and down the other, as he bragged that he beat his dog into submission, teaching him who was in control. Dobson said this is the same way you should raise children—–get out the belt and beat them into submission.

        OMG.

Had no idea that this was the filth spouted by Dobson.

I’m cringing and crying for his poor pet Dachshund, and I’m a cat person. How utterly cruel.

I am eternally amazed by the RW mouthpieces – now they are supporting child abuse! We teach by example – hitting a child teaches that it is OK to physically strike someone. Control by fear – through so much of society – starts with the children.

Whatever the case, the Iraqi PM said they don’t want US ground troops there. *THAT* in itself should silence the warmongering cries. And since PBO has also said it’s not happening, well then….

Their one-track way of thinking is exactly why it is so dangerous to have any of them as CIC. I imagine that, like us, foreign governments are ruing the day that PBO is no longer in office.

The first thing I noted when I followed that link was that Chuckie Toad was the first of three ‘authors’ mentioned, so my skepticism radar immediately snapped on. I particularly “loved” 😦 how he/they kept saying that the president now ‘owned’ ISIL strategy ‘successful or not’ as if it isn’t always the case where PBO stands behind his decisions/people. 🙄 I was also grumbling to myself about the last part of the excerpt I’ve shared – I fail to see how paying attention to ‘the public’s appetite or lack thereof for combat troops’ is not a valid consideration for an elected official to make.

      Here’s a piece …

“The U.S. military campaign against Islamist militants in Syria is being designed to allow President Barack Obama to exert a high degree of personal control, going so far as to require that the military obtain presidential signoff for strikes in Syrian territory,” the Wall Street Journal reports. No one can say Obama is shirking his responsibility as commander-in-chief; he fully owns it — whether it’s successful or not.

And he opens himself up to criticism that he’s not listening to his commanders

One other point here: Obama’s insistence on being emphatic about no ground troops also makes the president appear as if he’s allowing political considerations (that is, the public’s appetite or lack thereof for combat troops) to influence his thinking. …..”

      • September 18, 2014 at 3:37 pm

PBO is just trying to make sure Military Industrial Complex & neo-cons don’t arm-twist generals into expanding the war. PBO knows the creeps very well and wants to keep them on a tight leash

You and I trust Pres O because we believe he has a ‘north star’ for the country militarily, and is not a member of the MIC. We also know that he knows how to stand firm. Reading that article (after seeing Chuckie’s name) was just curiosity to see how he would insert his negative theme. I have no respect for Toadie.

“How’s the flat you’re living in in London, Jock?” asks his mother when he calls home to Aberdeen.

“It’s okay,” he replies, “but the woman next door keeps screaming and crying all night and the guy on the other side keeps banging his head on the wall.”

“Never you mind,” says his mother, “don’t you let them get to you, just ignore them.”

“Aye, that I do,” he says, “I just keep playing my bagpipes.”

Good morning TODville, good morning to Scots and English alike.

Bobfr posted this last week. I could have sworn that this event is happening today, but now see no reference to Sep 18.

PBO does have a DNC event at 3:30 today, so maybe this is happening in the afternoon.

Note to all HRC bashers (which includes me). She must read TOD (unlike her handlers such as Jim Messina and Jennifer Granholm) and has deigned to appear at this #LandslideDems2014 kick-off event.

Will check out MSM tweets. They will be in lather about HRC, not so much about PBO, @VP and @FLOTUS.

Well, it’s worked for Repubs in the past – the scare tactics with ACA.

Closing the donut hole, a whole slew FREE diagnostic tests – seniors benefited from ACA sooner than anyone else did.

Crist better counter this, and quick, of which I have every confidence.

Dougal was a typical Scot. His wife Janet had just died and he wanted to place the least expensive death notice. He went to the newspaper office and wrote on the lodgement from, “Janet died.”

The clerk explained that there was a minimum charge and he could have five words.

Dougal added three more words: “Janet died, Toyota for sale.”

Outside of the dummies on FOX News, Whoopi Goldberg may have the worst judgment of anyone on TV. She has been defending child abusers all week—–today defending a dad who made his kid drink alcohol till he passed out and paramedics had to be called to save the kids’ life—-to teach the kid not to become an alcoholic like him. Ay yi yi. Now she’s talking about PBO, saying he has a worse approval rating that W, with seemingly no awareness about political climate, saying that no one trusts him about war, asking if PBO has the “where with all” (?) to take us into another war. Don’t even know what that means. Just nonsensical blather. Geez. The 2 Rosies are saving the day on that show—-barely—-as they’re the only ones displaying some common sense and sound judgment.

These pictures of Michelle Obama are so tender and touching. My son died 34 years ago this month on a pediatric wing of the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon, called the Dohrenbecher Unit for children. Like this picture many of the children there had no hair from cancer treatment, as happened to my son, who died of Acute Myelocytic Leukemia. In the evening on this ward, right after dinner time, the children who could, would take out their tricycles and big wheels, and wagons and troop around in a caravan around the nurses station just living and playing in the present moment. On one evening in particular I was pulling my son in a wagon, with an IV bottle attached. I pulled over out of the caravan in a moment of inner struggle and desperation trying to tell myself that my son was not hopelessly sick like those other children and not facing death, when I knew otherwise. In the midst of this struggle I tried to calm myself and looked into his eyes asking for an answer. There was an unspoken answer in the form of a question in his eyes. “Daddy, are you going to go through this with me, all the way, or are you going to run away from it?” That made it clear for me, I knew I was helpless to save my little boy, but I could walk with him, be with him fully all the way. And in that moment we rejoined the caravan of sick and dying children, and there was a joy in my heart because I knew we were all in that caravan, that circle, all of the human family, together.

Today the cancer treatments are much better and less painful for the children, with better outcomes. For that I am grateful. It is a terrible thing to watch your child suffer and die and be helpless to protect them. What will remain with me forever, is the expressions on those little faces and bald heads, of simply being in the present moment and courageously facing and accepting what comes.

HEADLINE: ‘Meet The Press’ returns to third place

// NBC’s “Meet The Press” with Chuck Todd returned to third place in the ratings race last Sunday after a rare victory the week before, according to Nielsen ratings…

…Todd’s inaugural episode of “Meet,” on Sept. 7, had topped the ratings race due to an exclusive one-on-one interview with President Obama. The Sept. 14 numbers provide a truer measure of viewer interest in the program, and show just how much work Todd will have to do to repair the damage done by his predecessor, David Gregory…//
