Morning TODers. Hope everyone has a glorious Sunday. Temperatures have plunged into the 40s overnight, so the remaining summer flowers are looking stressed and I had to dig out a winter sweater to face the day. Can’t think where the summer went.

Disappeared much too quickly. I am full of despair over what this winter will be like. Had the annual checkup on the AC yesterday and they had to delay it because it was too cold to run a complete check. Plus, they were getting calls for people who couldn’t get their heat to run. Never have had to have the furnace on this early.

Not sure if it will duplicate to the north japa – but our winter came early – it also left early – September has been near perfect – 70-80F during the day – down to 50s at night. So I’m wishing you an early spring for 2015.

Right, it’s something that any one who has lived here for a while expects.

I thought we had escaped the scorching Sep weather this year, since it was so relatively cool over Labor Day, and only about a week and half ago was thinking how cool the mornings were.

Nighttime temps here did not drop into the 60Fs, which portends a scorcher today.

Just started patio gardening in late June, but I’ve learned that most plants that are described as “full sun” only like it when temps are 90F or less. Otherwise they literally fry, poor things.

I was just gearing up for it, Chips. Kept telling myself that I would enjoy the summer after our fiesta and then ‘poof’ it disappeared. Why is it that winter always ends up being the longest season, no matter what the calendar says?

I agree with ExtremeLiberal (Jim), people have to stop focusing on one issue and look at the entire picture, the Tea Republican party haven’t done a dam thing for this country, but yet if you are to believe the polls some are saying they rather have these Republicans in control of Congress. All we have seen is obstruction and a do nothing racists Congress (Republicans).

Warning: I was bitten on the elbow by an unidentified flying thingie this morning when I had Danny down at the river. So, it’s likely that I’ll be talking about my elbow quite a bit today, tomorrow and, possibly, all through the week. At least it makes a change from the tooth, though. Did I mention I lost a tooth?

It wouldn’t be Sunday for these guys without Grumpy, would it, John? I have never watched a Sunday talk show because I always opt for a morning walk and a chance to put politics aside for a few hours. Must be hell to have to listen to a miserable misanthrope every week.

  10. September 14, 2014 at 8:56 am

What would help enormously in my efforts to overcome the trauma of being savaged by a flying thingie would be a very large Manchester United win today (11:0 EDT) – which is likely because they have a shiny new-ish team. I may need a calculator to count all the gooooooooals today ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Good Morning everyone. amk, those pictures of that little fella were just adorable. I just love puppies. Jackie, it’s cold here too we have had some nasty high winds and darned cold. Summer is gone. Wednesday have to get duck tape plastic to cover my wall A/C. Not looking forward to this. Our weather people says, colder than last year and we had a brutal winter last year. Megan gets her indoor potty patch this year. She doesn’t like diapers or peepee pads, or being blocked up. We had quite a time last year ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, Roberta, I remember all your woes with indoor dog potties. Our back porch has been serving as a pigeon maternity ward all summer and the last couple of squabs are really feeling the cold this morning. The same pigeon couple keeps going at it and delivering eggs. No wonder we have a pigeon population explosion. This had better be the last batch or mama winter is going to start making life miserable for the little ones.

LH, I feel positive that you can trace a direct line between the pro-war screamers and the MIC dollars in their bank accounts. Can’t think who they’re trying to persuade, though. Americans don’t want war, the president is not going to waiver, and our laughable Congress hasn’t got the guts to do anything. The War First and Always crowd must get paid by the word, no matter what happens.

Very important. ๐Ÿ™‚ 11 mo. old grandbabe thought it was So Fun getting her footsies measured for 1st pair of shoes yesterday—–but…….cried when these new contraptions were put on her feet, even though they were snappy and real “purty” ones—-navy with little pink flowers. She’s had 11 months of toesie freedom—–mostly barefoot or, at the most, socks or footed onesies——and now this new revolting development—-confinement! I know how she feels—–I also cry when I have to transition from easy, breezy, FREEDOM sandals into the harsh reality of boot confinement. I thought about what gr. babe’s dad said the other day—–that all she knows so far is love and kisses—–and I thought—-wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could keep her world like that. But nope——-shoes!

  14. September 14, 2014 at 9:44 am

These days, the words “breaking news” has no relationship to *breaking* and often times little to do with *news*. When something that’s anticipated — talked about over and over in this 24/7 newstainer cycle — finally happens, that’s “breaking” news. And any faux poll results that can be interpreted as unfavorable for PBO is considered breaking “news”.

I moseyed over to @Maddow website yesterday after seeing the #HugWars discussion, and saw that she had upChuck as featured guest on one of her Friday segments:

“White House leaves Congress behind on war designation
Chuck Todd, NBC News political director and moderator of Meet The Press, talks with Rachel Maddow about what political thinking may be guiding the Obama Administration to call the fight against ISIS a war without waiting for Congress to declare it.”

I know she must be required to have his scowling, unpleasant, uninformed, biased face on her show, but pleeease, upChuck knows as much about how appalled Americans are at the recent unspeakably gruesome deaths of American journalists and also the death of a British AID worker as Bill Kristol (who has been proved to ALWAYS be wrong).

Don’t you find it odd that the MSM seems so incredibly outraged about ISIL/ISIS yet at the same time so incredibly dismissive of the fact that John McCain was hanging out with the same group just last year? Don’t you think that if there were ever pictures of PBO hanging out with ISIS at any time in the last 10 years, the MSM would be running those photos on 24/7 loop, with all kinds of headlines/punditry for months, and that would be used as grounds for impeachment?

Don’t you find it a bit strange that the MSM is subtly trying to blame PBO and his administration (as the GOP is wont to do) for the beheadings in an underhanded sort of way (by using the FOLEY Family), but they won’t address the critical issue of how Edward Snowden and his cult of Libertarian allies have empowered these terrorist organizations?

Don’t you notice that the media seems almost gleeful when reporting the beheadings of journalists/humanitarian workers – as if they’re checking stuff off a list? Don’t you notice an intense media focus on ISIS to the exclusion of far more important domestic issues going into the midterms? Don’t you find this exaggerated MSM response oddly contrasted with prior to 2009 when beheadings received relatively little media attention?

      Yes…to all of this!

    • September 14, 2014 at 10:46 am

I think about the guilt by association stigma that was placed on President Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign. The associations of McCain (and I’m sure others) should label him a traitor (or at least raise doubts about his patriotism) and place him *under* the jail. Any opinions he makes about foreign policy should be considered suspect.

It’s sad that I don’t think it’s odd anymore. The MSM have been outraged over everything this president does ever since PBO got elected in 2008, and declared that the honeymoon was over within months after the inauguration; because he didn’t clean-up Washington DC all by himself. Something he never promised. He always said we are the ones to change how Washington works.

  27. September 14, 2014 at 10:38 am

And now Harkin from the left? Makes it seem the PITUS has zero support from democrats on congress,
This is purely a patty Hearst strategy. It’s sick!

    • September 14, 2014 at 10:58 am

Don’t fall for it. They cherrypicked that quote. Harkin is supporting the President. He was responding to Crowley’s hypothetical nonsense about bringing in special forces against ISIS. She then tried to get Harkin to talk about how disappointed he is in the President. Tells you all you need to know about how this interview went. It’s like she got her questions straight form Sean Hannity.
