And who is Rachel Maddow to judge anyway? She’s been on MSNBC for 6+ years and I haven’t seen her hug a single damn soul. Does that mean she’s not a hugger? And why should that be of any importance to anyone? Her job is not to hug, it’s to host a political talk show…

    • September 13, 2014 at 3:17 pm

It’s just that she spends a lot of time arguing that this President is NOT liked. It’s as if she has some stake in turning people against him. Maybe that IS her job too.

I’ve noticed that tendency among certain Liberal left…to claim that PBO is “not popular” or “not liked” etc…

It’s a very subtle variation on the “he can’t relate to real AmuRKKKANS” uttered by the RW…

        • September 13, 2014 at 8:58 pm

I’ve noticed the same thing too, HF2! I always urge people I know, who have bought into the MSM meme that President Obama is “not popular,” to check out THE OBAMA DIARY. I was 15 when Dwight (IKE) Eisenhower finished his second term and JFK began his presidency. I just don’t remember any other President who was more comfortable in interacting with children, young people, ordinary people, old people, celebrities and foreign leaders than President Obama.

      Good Afternoon TODVille!

If I may add my 2 cents to the discussion, in the early days of the Obamas at the WH, they were both widely criticized for hugging people. Michelle with her bare arms all around everyone all the time, and PBO for hugging men! The media spent an insane amount of time that could have been used to discuss the merits of the stimulus on such a trivial matter. After 6 years, now the tune has changed that PBO was not hugger? Huh???

      • September 13, 2014 at 9:05 pm

Well said NCLB! For the Obamas, it’s heads you lose and tails you lose! Thank god for sites like TOD, there is no away they will falsify the record completely.

  11. September 13, 2014 at 3:09 pm

The hug is what we see; the love that makes each of these hugs so meaningful is the fact that President Obama truly loves people.

Before you vote – check the rule book. We have clear standards for what qualifies as a “hug.” Ms. Chips is docked points for failing to consistently meet those standards and I am unanimously (with a vote of one…from me) declared winner!!!!

  14. September 13, 2014 at 3:14 pm

I wish they would show this in the Media and stop lying about his approval. This POTUS is LOVED…all across this nation and it seems like they really hate to show it. The degree they go to to give the impression he is hated is disgusting. Especially when there is ample evidence to the contrary.

Ecstatic to see these adorable/wonderful #HugWars tweets when I logged in today.

But stunned to see why — did @Maddow actually say that PBO cannot hug????

Do not understand this at all — sorry, behind here as usual, but cannot figure out why she would say something that is obviously NOT true. Makes no sense to me.

R-money only has sons, and I’m sure Miss Ann controlled them until they were school-aged — at that time R-money was able to roughhouse with them, but he is painfully clueless on how to hug or show any degree of tenderness.

    Clue me in, TODville!

To add another element to this little discussion…….has Rachel Maddow been asleep when PBO has been speaking and people just yell: “We love you!” and he answers: “Love you back!” I have never heard this kind of spontaneous expression of affection to ANY OTHER President!!!

      September 13, 2014 at 3:54 pm

The equivalent of a giant group hug. WTH is her problem? Not enough to legit talk about?

    • September 14, 2014 at 4:21 am

Yes Indeed, Carolyn! Like you, “I have never heard this kind of spontaneous expression of affection to ANY OTHER President!!!” And I am almost 69 years old.

I never expected the supposedly smart Rachel Maddow to embrace Karl Rove’s tactics of attacking the strength of the people you dislike/oppose. President Obama is so comfortable among regular folks. Rove and his fellow Republicans know that this is one of President Obama’s strengths and they’ve done everything to try to undermine it. Along the way, the MSM have been the GOP’s greatest enablers. Somehow, the man who chose to forego lucrative careers in the corporate world, and instead focused on working to help the displaced workers find jobs, is the one who is now labelled as an aloof elitist. The media purposely ignores all the spontaneous expression of love that President Obama receives from ordinary people, both in this country and abroad. I was hopping that Chipsticks would include that lovely, iconic and powerful “HUG” President Obama received from a young student/students in Australia.

    I have achieved a breakthrough!

My regular Saturday patron, Keith, who quails too much at what pundits say, is coming over to my way of thinking and being a pundit-free zone. I’ve been working on this for YEARS. Finally bearing some fruit.

One amazingly fabulous thing about President Obama is that all of us and every child, celebrity and sane person WANTS to hug him. For some magical reason, he has always had the ability to make people feel that he knows them and cares about them that he and we are part of the same family. I was trying to think of any president that would elicit that kind of feeling and I drew a blank. The idea of hugging Johnson, Nixon, or any of the Bushes makes me gag and I was always suspicious of the Clinton faux ‘sincerity.’ President Obama is the real thing, authentic to the core, and he touches our hearts. Next up, has to be Michelle Obama hugs.

      • September 13, 2014 at 5:44 pm

Only way ISIL will be stopped is by doing exactly what President Obama is orchestrating – degrade and destroy. Anyone entertaining the notion of negotiating with them should spend some time negotiating with a viper.

To Hug or Not To Hug……that is the question?

    War or Not……that is ISIL?

In 6 yrs, 24/7 before this Nation and the world……If Dr Rachel Maddow thinks that she was being Smart on Thursday’s Segment bashing pres Obama………What Rachel Maddow ended up doing was…..show How STUPID she made of herself. It was the equivalent of her Mock Oval Address speech she made in 2009/2010. Ms. Maddow failed miserably.

Her Thursday show….I must confess, I heard a bit, but Never watched rendered her Smartness totally useless. If she was being Honest……which she was Not……she should have mentioned the Coup d’etat on Jan 20th, 2009 by 19 GOPers at a Steak House in DC as the nation burned financially. The various statements of wanting a Waterloo by Jim DeMint, to see him fail by Rusbo, the number one Goal by McConnell in Oct 2010 to make the president a one termer, Michele Bachmann’s various accusatory ill informed statements, the many times this POTUS invited the GOP to the WH….including the Super Bowl in 2009…….Bitherism, etc, etc, etc.

Rachel made an arse of herself by LYING 1001%. To attack the Person of Pres Barack H. Obama is NOT hard. But it is also the duty of others to ask why so much attention to the EMOTION and Person of this president? Those who are doing it have Nothing else to complain about policy-wise so the act out Childishly, Racially and Wickedly. The problem in these cases are theirs. Unfortunately, with Malice, those who have the Medium of information are damaging these United States of America from Within.

ISIS loses if our moderate Arab-Muslim partners can unite and make this a civil war within Islam — a civil war in which America is the air force for the Sunnis and Shiites of decency versus those of barbarism. ISIS wins if it can make this America’s war with Sunni Islam — a war where America is the Shiite/Alawite air force against Sunnis in Iraq and Syria. ISIS will use every bit of its Twitter/Facebook network to try to depict it as the latter, and draw more recruits.

We keep making this story about us, about Obama, about what we do. But it is not about us. It is about them and who they want to be. It’s about a pluralistic region that lacks pluralism and needs to learn how to coexist. It’s the 21st century. It’s about time.
