😆 Although DF, I’d really prefer if you didn’t mention cheeks. I went to a monster pet store yesterday to buy Danny some stuff, and there was a section with chewy things from parts of cows and pigs that …. actually, no, can’t talk about it.

EEWWWW!!! I’m so sorry that I even sparked that memory for you. Consider those cheeks not even mentioned! (REALLY??!!) Did you find him any NORMAL TOYS that he could chew/destroy??

            • September 6, 2014 at 10:33 am

Well, after I got my knees working again, I made for the indestructible toys section and got an enormous ropey thingie that he dismantled in three minutes. Also a rubbery toy that he destroyed in six minutes. And a comfy cushion that I had to take off him last night because he started shredding it after humping it. And lots of treats that he didn’t like. Apart from that, a very successful shopping trip. 😎

Have you invested in a portable x-ray machine? Methinks he has creative places to ‘stash’ the missing stuff.

I have been hunting for days for other athletic shoe. Methinks Kasper has started a new stash in an undisclosed location. You’d reach the same conclusion if you saw the look on his face as I crawl on my hands and knees, looking under every chair, sofa and every nook and cranny. Should a dog be able to smirk?

                    • September 6, 2014 at 10:53 am

😆 I would actually be afraid to x-ray Danny’s tummy, I suspect he would out-do that Great Dane content-wise. Next time someone tells me a dog can’t do facial expressions I will show them Danny rolling his eyes when I give out to him. I will. As for Kasper, I am now 100% convinced he and Danny are related.

I really would not like to put those two together. Their schemes would be the stuff of legend.

I swear, Chips, he figured out that my go-to place to look for stuff was his stash under the sofa. He’s started a new treasure chest and the hunt is on to find it.

                    • September 6, 2014 at 11:02 am

57, does Kasper have any magpies in his family tree?

WOW. What in the world! Danny’s new name should be Danny Destructo! What does one buy a dog to play with that eats everything?? You totally have your hands full!

                  • September 6, 2014 at 10:48 am

Ah ha, bookmarked! Thank you DF!! I notice they mention the Kong toys – they have so far proved indestructible, which means he’s completely bored with them and won’t play with them. That’s the major issue now, he doesn’t want ANYTHING he can’t destroy 🙂

                • September 6, 2014 at 10:46 am

And the other day I bought him another indestructible toy – three rubbery ring thingies looped in to each other. I tested them intensely, and reckoned they were perfect. Gave them to him, was on laptop, looked up four minutes, 30 seconds later and he was kinda winking at me as they lay shredded on the floor.

I really think that you would do well to take pics of Danny Destructo and send them to these dog toy places….they can all vie to build a Danny toy that he can’t destroy in 2 seconds! You’d be swimming in dog toys that you would no longer have to buy with your own hard earned money:) Seriously…I think he needs a job with the canine corps at the State Dept or something!

This is what I think of now!

                    • September 6, 2014 at 11:00 am

                      That IS him!!!!! 😆

What an excellent idea – it could actually be a TV series, Danny testing out these ‘indestructible’ toys every week, with companies battling to defeat him. I might put the idea to CNN, they need a ratings boost.

If you believe the Media you are expected to think that 142,000 jobs added last month is a death knell for November.
If you are sane, you understand that job growth is better than at any time in the last 15 years.

If you believe the Media you think that red-atate Dems set the immigration policy of the USA.
If you are sane, you will wait for POTUS to tell us what HIS decision is.

      Exactly Vicki!

And I keep hearing/seeing on Twitter about a “Wh Official” saying this and that…but no one has provided a link, a name, or a video/audio clip. Meanwhile, we have the President himself at yesterday’s presser, saying that in the coming week, he’s going to see what actions he can take on Immigration within the boundaries of legality and will be making an announcement on that soon.

So If I’m a little more than skeptical about the sudden swarm of MSM reports about delayed action with no appearance or statement from PBO, I’ve presented my reasons here. 🙂

Here’s why this whole thing is as ridiculous as it sounds.

Why would PBO announce two months before the midterms that he is going to wait until AFTER the midterms to take executive action? If Senate Dems are in danger BECAUSE of Immigration action – why would PBO keep them in danger by announcing his intention to do the very thing that they are danger for? Wouldn’t that defeat the purpose of trying to save the Senate Dems – which according to these reporters is the purpose of his delaying action in the first place? Whether he does it before or after the midterms – wouldn’t that still “energize” GOP anti-Immigration voters while deflating pro-Immigration supporters?

    I smell a putrid rat here….

    • September 6, 2014 at 11:05 am

      It is legit:

      The White House official emails

“The reality the President has had to weigh is that we’re in the midst of the political season, and because of the Republicans’ extreme politicization of this issue, the President believes it would be harmful to the policy itself and to the long-term prospects for comprehensive immigration reform to announce administrative action before the elections. Because he wants to do this in a way that’s sustainable, the President will take action on immigration before the end of the year. For example, we have seen how Republicans have fought hard to exploit the humanitarian situation at the Rio Grande Valley…

The President has had many conversations and consultations throughout this process – including with his Cabinet, members of Congress, stakeholders, and advocates on this issue. The President is confident in his authority to act, and he will before the end of the year.”

Senate Dem POV according to Greg

The case goes like this: In the core red states that will decide Senate control, there are very few genuinely persuadable voters left. Base turnout will be decisive. Any action by Obama risks further inflaming the GOP base at a time when the fading of Obamacare as a major issue, and the lack of 2010′s seismic levels of rage, could mean core GOP voters aren’t quite as engaged as during the 2010 shellacking.

Meanwhile, Dem hopes for survival rest heavily on turning out the unmarried women who are increasingly key to the Dem coalition but sit out midterms. The way to move them is with a message relentlessly focused on women’s economic issues. Any move that allows Republicans to argue Dems are focused on giving jobs to illegal immigrants — however demagogic — risks muddling that message in the minds of voters who are already suffering from economic insecurity. While some argue acting would rev up core Dem groups, Latinos are not a major factor in these races and it might not have any such impact on these unmarried red state women….continued

        September 6, 2014 at 11:14 am

If PBO announces that he’s going to take E.O. by the end of the year – would that STILL be an issue for the GOP to demagogue going into the midterms?

That’s why I don’t get this logic. It makes zero sense. Maybe I’m missing something here…

        • 46 hopefruit2

          Typo correction: *wouldn’t*

        • September 6, 2014 at 11:36 am

I think this way it protects Red State D’s b/c their population would not produce the influx of Latino voters based on demographics & only help GOP turnout in their minds. The GOP doesn’t want to touch this unless they can tie it to “the imperial presidency” case & point look at Chris Christie IN MEXICO refusing to answer immigration ?’s. One other point is if you listened to PBO’s Nato press conference he made the point of stating he still wanted congressional action….so I think he may be giving Boehner one more fig leaf to latch onto after the midterms, and if he doesn’t that gives the President even more cover(as if he needed it) to move expansively before a new congress comes in.

          • 48 hopefruit2

“I think this way it protects Red State D’s b/c their population would not produce the influx of Latino voters based on demographics & only help GOP turnout in their minds”

But the President has already announced that he’s going to take E.O – and in the MSM reports today, that has not changed – just the timing of “before vs. after” November. Which in the minds of the GOP, would make it seem even more “political” thereby energizing their base to come out and get rid of those red state Dems.

I still stand by my comments that this makes absolutely no sense…

The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the president’s decision before it was announced, said Obama made his decision Friday as he returned to Washington from a NATO summit in Wales.

They said Obama called a few allies from Air Force One and informed them of his decision, and that the president made more calls from the White House on Saturday.

The officials said Obama had no specific timeline to act, but that he still would take his executive steps before the end of the year.

All of this is still unsourced. I will wait to hear directly from PBO. It still makes absolutely ZERO sense that

        1. PBO would telegraph his plans to take E.O. this year, but supposedly waiting until after November. That essentially defeats the purpose of saving vulnerable red-state Dems.

        2. That the “WH officials” would report this to the media before PBO has a chance to make a statement about it himself.

Just popping in to express my shock at how clueless RWNJs are.

Yardarm may not agree with me, but Americans turn a blind eye to the real problem of homelessness in America, just as they refuse to be reminded of the legacy of post-Reconstruction segregation.

Why (rich) people consider the homeless as not human is beyond me.

        September 6, 2014 at 11:20 am

It is such a complex problem to solve; I don’t think that America necessarily turns a blind eye towards it. Each person that is homeless has a story as to why they are homeless, from drug addiction to unemployment to mental health issues. Most agencies that are tasked with solving these problems are so overwhelmed that they are at best just trying to keep their doors open.

    Hello TOD.
It’s a cool day in my neck of the woods.
Thanks for all the posts toady and last evening.
Yes, the WH is postponing the Executive Action on Immigration Relief until after the election. I am not sure how that helps or hurts the Dem chances. It is what it is.
Now, with the nation to focus on the strategy to Degrade and Destroy ISIL……the Immigration Relief Executive Action will occupy the DC/NY pundits for tops, 3 days……..

My advise is that Dems in DC…..are always fearful of their own views…… Americans will vote for strong and wrong than for weak/indecisive and right. Dems did this in 2010. POTUS understands this. That is why he is making the decision now…..owning the political theme on this decision and moving FORWARD! Dems in the SENATE this time are the REASON why……not Dems in the House. I knew this decision was coming having heard Rep Linda Sanchez on MSNBC last night.

Just back from doing getting s few things done.

Rep Linda Sanchez is one of the early supporters of then Sen Obama. You are probably thinking of her older sister, Rep Loretta “Harley Davidson” Sanchez. She was a HRC supporter.

Another witness to Michael Brown’s shooting has come forward in an interview with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The witness, who spoke to the Post-Dispatch under the condition of anonymity, was working on a building in the neighborhood and wasn’t from Ferguson. He told the Post-Dispatch that he could not tell whether or not there had been a struggle between Officer Darren Wilson and Brown, but that he saw Wilson chasing Brown and shooting him while Brown had his hands up.

Brown, a black teenager, was shot by Wilson, a white police officer, around noon on August 9th by Wilson. Amid allegations of racial profiling and excessive force, the FBI has stepped in to assist local police on the investigation. The Department of Justice has also opened up a wider probe on police in the area.

Listen TOD Family, we can all disagree, but what we all agree on is that at the end of the day President Obama will get his way on immigration be it now or later on down the line.

The latino population needs to get out and vote democrat in the mid terms regardless of when the president acts. That would scare republicans silly and if the R’s refuse to act post election via congress PBO should execute Executive order. Immigration activists need to put the heat on the R’s – not protest the President outside the White House – as if they were Dan Choi. Screaming at the president instead of directing their ire and retribution where warranted drives me crazy. Whoever has been advising the immigration activists has not been advising them well. If they’d directed pressure where it was deserved earlier they may have achieved faster and more permanent results.

Where is the Latino population anger toward the House Republicans?

They do both. Yes they petition the President but they have also been protesting Congress. They have been registering voters for this election but getting some of the older Latinos to understand how government works has been trying. They don’t always grasp how essential local elections are. Immigration activists putting heat on PBO is one of the main reasons that he took the executive action for the Dreamers in 2012 and why he is considering taking action on deportations. It’s not always a bad thing to press the President on an issue as long as its done respectfully. Government workers pressed him to raise the minimum wage through EO earlier this year by protesting and pressing the topic. The Latino Community knows they get nothing if Republicans get in office but when your family is being ripped apart it’s difficult to be patient.

Cluny, I’m tempted to say that the WH might be sending up a trial balloon, but then again I don’t think Team Chicago is into that sort of thing. This issue is playing out like all the other hair on fire issues, the populace rages at President Obama for inaction/leading from behind/aloofness/caving, then once we are at a boiling point President Obama makes us all look like fools. I’ve seen this movie too many times, that’s why I’m almost to the point where I could not care less because I know that in the end President Obama will do the right thing. President Obama is fast becoming like a Bruce Lee movie, you know in the end he’s going to kick somebody’s ass, you just want to see how he does it.

Yes – I agree. I actually think it’s better to wait. I only wish some activists wouldn’t blame the President. He is obviously on their side. My point is that 100% of their protest should be directed at Republicans. All that protest outside of the white house and calling him ‘deporter in chief’ only gave the R’s comfort in dragging their heels. They weren’t getting all the heat so they could drag it out and delay via congress. It was a stupid move, in my opinion. on behalf of the activists.

I understand cluny but I believe that because of the ire that Republicans have towards Latino Immigrants (with their Amnesty meme) they would have ginned up fear for the Red State Democrats regardless of any protest by the immigration advocates. Although that’s not to excuse those “deporter in chief” rallies.
