gm early birds – congrats on 1st sherijr and thank you Ms Chips for all the updates.

Wales has so many castles – I think many built in the days of Edward I – tradesmen used to travel from England to do the building – most never returned home.

This is a good site talking about them all

Good morning. This is such a critical day for Ukraine in the Nato meetings. I can’t wait to hear the report. On another note, we had a l..o..n..g, i.e. endless, county Democratic committee meeting last night and I have never seen a group so organized and so committed to winning elections. We have an uphill battle against an R majority, but people are really giving it their best. It did what I could to make clear that if candidates are working for Latino votes, they had better associate themselves with President Obama.

Tim Russert’s son Luke to be a regular face on ‘Meet The Press’

    By Emily Smith

NBC is bringing in Luke Russert, son of the late beloved “Meet the Press” host Tim Russert, as a regular panelist on the Sunday morning show in a bid to turn around its catastrophic ratings slide, Page Six has exclusively learned.

Also joining new moderator Chuck Todd’s team will be former Republican congressman and “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough, who sources say “is taking on a larger role within NBC News as a senior political analyst and would be one of the regular Sunday panelists.”

We’re told the move is part of a plan to bring a right-leaning voice to the program to appeal to viewers turned off by the show’s famously left-leaning former hosts including the ousted David Gregory.

What a joke…”left leaning”?…since when? John-Meet-The-Press-McCain the liberal is on that show so often it should be called meet McCain.

We’re told the move is part of a plan to bring a right-leaning voice to the program to appeal to viewers turned off by the show’s famously left-leaning former hosts including the ousted David Gregory.

That is hilarious……NBC is tone deaf …

      September 4, 2014 at 9:12 am

This has to be a parody or satire, right?

      “Dances with Rove” was left-leaning?

Looks to me like NBC is attempting to redefine the model. Kochs will be the Right and Bloomberg will be the Left.

In other words, which flavor of ice cream would you like? We have plain vanilla, vanilla without nuts, and vanilla without sprinkles.

    • 70 jackiegrumbacher
      September 4, 2014 at 9:17 am

Rikyrah, this is surely an onion piece. There is no one on earth who would call Gregory left-leaning. Hope the “new” MTP takes a quick route into the garbage bin of tv history.

    • 72 dotster3
      September 4, 2014 at 9:34 am

Wow—NBC is turning over the bulk of their political news operation to Chuck Todd and Joe Scarborough? Wow. Bad decision-making in the HR dept. there. Clueless. Young Russert doesn’t really bother me as much—-harmless, and I suspect very liberal under the attempt to appear non-objective and professional in the news biz.
Andrea Mitchell waiting in the wings.

      September 4, 2014 at 11:37 am

Good Heavens……Left Leaning with David Gregory? Funny how these DC Pundits think. Luke Russert is what 29 yrs old with tiny experience. Oh well, Nepotism and who you know sure works. Funny how JoScar was already a frequent guest in the last 6 yrs. Chuck Todd a college rightie drop-out is Definitely going to TANK MTP. I gave it 6 months many days ago. I am now flip flopping. I give it 3 months and NBC will either cry UNCLE or die a slow death pretending that their tanking ratings in the next coming will not spook them. Chris Wallace, the soon to be 67 yrs old from Fox will be the ‘benefacto’……..MTP will be getting 1M viewers and in the 4th place in less than 3 months.

NBC has disrespected their audience way too many times. It is an affront to what their audience. It is the reason since April 2012 when they had Palin in as a guest and host on The Today Show…..when majority of their viewers objected. NBC has Not learned.

Nicole Wallace is now said to be hired by the View….along with Rosie Perez. Once again…..right wingers on every show…..while Real Liberals are harder to find.

      September 4, 2014 at 1:46 pm

What a ham-fisted move to skew the coverage even FURTHER right…just call David Gregory “left-leaning” so you have an excuse to load up on even more GOP mouthpieces.

Hope their ratings go down the toilet.

IF YOU GET PAST OUR VOTER ID OBSTACLES, WE’D REALLY LIKE YOUR VOTE.

Why voter ID laws pose long term danger to GOP

      By Paul Waldman

      —————————————-

But for a party that is struggling to appeal to precisely those demographic groups targeted by voter ID laws, such short-term gains risk getting swamped by long-term damage to its image. The voter ID debate reinforces everything the GOP doesn’t want people to think about it: that it’s the party of old white people, that it has contempt for minorities, that it knows nothing about the lifestyles and concerns of young people (who are far less likely than their parents were to get driver’s licenses), and that it will do virtually anything to win. You can’t spend a bunch of energy doing something that will make it harder for, for instance, Latinos to cast ballots, then turn around and say, “By the way, if you manage to make it past all these obstacles we’ve put in your path, we’d really like your vote.” But so far, few in the GOP seem to understand that.

As an admitted TV Addict, I admit I always love the ritual of Fall TV Season Premieres

    ………….

10 new shows to watch this fall

    By Frazier Moore
    AP

It’s a time-honored rite harking back to an era of black-and-white TVs and the trio of networks whose programs they delivered: the grand unveiling of new fall fare. As part of the ritual, this latest fall crop is an occasion for handicapping the good and the … moremisfires. Granted, it’s a risky business to rate a new series’ prospects on the basis of its pilot episode, which is typically the only thing critics have to go on. But even if it doesn’t guarantee a great series will follow, a pilot must at least trigger interest at a level to get viewers to return the second week. Here are 10 new series that might catch your fancy:

Thought this was interesting—-audience growing for local Chgo a.m. show—70% in 2 years—–which reports no crime, no bad news. Say it is a better way to start the day, a program families can have on in the morning as they are getting ready, something positive that can be on while kids are eating breakfast. Makes all kind of sense to me.

Who said there was delay? Did PBO announce any date? No he didn’t. The media needs to STFU and let the President do his job. He will take executive action when he deems necessary – November or not.

      • September 4, 2014 at 9:44 am

Well he did say by end of summer, then some senate democrats freaked out.

        • 89 hopefruit2
          September 4, 2014 at 9:52 am

No Jovie, that’s not what he said. He said he reserved the right to take executive action “any time AFTER the end of the summer,” if the GOP did not submit a proposal by the August recess.

Chuck Schumer then re-iterated the same thing that PBO said on a Senate floor speech.

        • 91 99ts
          September 4, 2014 at 9:55 am

My understanding the President said he would take action if the GOP in congress had done nothing by the end of summer – he did not say WHEN he would take action. The media ALWAYS mis quote what the President says

          • 92 hopefruit2
            September 4, 2014 at 10:05 am

Thank you 99ts. Glad I’m not the only one who heard our President’s words correctly!! 🙂 And yes, the media sees it as their job to misinform and disinform – that’s how they get people angry at PBO for no damn good reason.

Thankfully, most of us are now fully aware of their shenanigans.

On a more serious note, I love seeing PBO and SOS Kerry working together. I so admire Kerry’s loyalty and hard work, He is a true public servant in whom I have complete trust. I did not feel that way about Hillary.

        • September 4, 2014 at 10:02 am

NOt only John Kerry is working hard AND hand-in-hand with the president, but he is also a man of profound integrity, and he doesn’t have any political agenda. He would have made a very fine president.

          • September 4, 2014 at 10:06 am

I mean… John Kerry doesn’t have any political agenda anymore because he doesn’t want to be president. But he would have been a very fine one. Measured, honest, serious, and a humanist. He doesn’t have the charisma of a Barack Obama, but there is this aura of dignity around him. Like Barack Obama, John Kerry is a statesman more than a traditional politician.

    • September 4, 2014 at 9:51 am

That would be my love note. It looks like my stationary. 🙂

OKay jokes aside..you’re right LP2008. The NATO summit and anything that goes on there is of prime importance – which is why I was a bit puzzled when I checked on Twitter and only saw people being concerned with who was on ABC’s DWTS, and not what was going on at the Summit.

As far as I’m concerned, this summit should have been carried live by all the 24/7 ncable news stations AND CSPAN. But it wasn’t.

Very good read on the legal aspects and how cases get to SCOTUS. This comment says all that needs to be said about the GOP

“Perhaps recognizing that their legal arguments against further DC Circuit review were not likely to carry the day, Obamacare’s opponents turned to the conservative press to litigate their case in the media. ”
