All my animals have been rescues…they are so appreciative and they just “get it.” The moment I took my Simi out of that pound and put her in my car to take her home…I swear I saw the biggest smile on her face…she was the most loving, most loyal, most incredible dog I’ve ever had in my life. Cats…went in to adopt one…came out with two because they were brother and sister and couldn’t be apart…if you saw them together you would understand why..they are so adorable together. Such joys they all have been…when a Great Dane isn’t in your home anymore….you notice the absence:) She was a presence, that’s for sure. She would want me to help another one…

Hello, Noble Mainstays of TOD Family! I salute you on First and Nearly-First! My fingers are a little tired from RT-ing the fabulous and uplifting economic news gathered by Tenacious and All-Seeing Never-Missing NerdyWonka, for the world to see. Sometimes we have to help the MSM and the lookie-loos who get distracted by fashion and fiction and faux-disasteraization. I love when our President’s leadership and our nation’s voting with our dollars shows up in numerical form.

INCLUDES MUST SEE VIDEO: Rev. Dr. William Barber: The 3rd Reconstruction

    • August 30, 2014 at 4:46 pm

      From the article,,,

“What we’ve actually seen is the latest outbreak of white rage…White rage recurs in American history. It exploded after the Civil War, erupted again to undermine the Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education decision and took on its latest incarnation with Barack Obama’s ascent to the White House. For every action of African American advancement, there’s a reaction, a backlash”.

and that video of Rev Barber is so on point……

fascinating to me…how the folks have attacked REV AL…but they have not attacked REV Barber……interesting….

this is a defining issue for me…the attacks by the so called black intelligentsia on grass roots leaders…on PBO…….I just wonder what is the plan behind it…and will REV Barber be next…

I absolutely loved when President Obama said “we” have no strategy for defeating ISIS. President Obama is very very careful and economical in his public communications. I loved it. OMG!! I loved it. It was so SCANDALesque, straight out of a Scandal script; as if Shonda Rhimes herself had written his monologue. And it was so beautifully executed. The last time the President did this sort of bumbling/fumbling ACT, he had SEALS laying in wait off the coast of Somalia. And we all know how that one ended. The media, poor thangs just couldn’t understand why they didn’t see it coming. Well when your job is to promote hate, fear, violence, and stupid, you never get to see the good stuff coming.

Iraqi forces started a full-scale offensive to free the besieged town of Amerli, where Shia Muslim residents have been threatened by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil), as public support swelled for an international military campaign against the group.
Amerli had been cut off by jihadists since June, with its residents facing shortages of food and water. Had the town been overrun by Isil, its occupants were likely to face death because of their Shia faith, which jihadists consider heresy.
Lt Gen Abdulamir al-Zaidi said the operation to free Amerli from the jihadists had been launched by troops south of the town, with support from Iraqi aircraft, as Shia militias attacked from the north.
John Kerry, the US secretary of state, called for the formation of a “global coalition” as King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia separately urged “rapid” international action against Isil.

I see that the media is trying to start a new problem with false stories about what PBO said about immigration. PBO never gave himself a specific deadline – he gave the GOP a deadline, which was “before the summer recess” to submit a proposal. If they didn’t submit a proposal before the summer recess, then he reserved the right to act on his own any time after the summer recess. That’s what PBO said and Chuck Schumer pretty much backed it up with similar words at another press briefing.

Where the hell did the media come up with this bull shit about PBO missing his deadline or “delaying” action on immigration? They were too busy ignoring what he said, or trying to distract with other crap…just like they did a couple days with the tan suit issue. Then two months later they’re going to invent stuff that he never said and the gullible public will be completely unaware that the media is taking them for a ride.

Chris Wallace of Fox said just days ago…..per Mediaite that Dr Ben Carson has zero to no chance of ever being elected POTUS in 2016….I am paraphrasing his words. It was posted on Wed or Thursday this week.

This was right after it was reported that Dr. Carson was in the process of hiring staffs to exploration…….His ego….Dr Carson is out of this world. GOP is neither going to nominate Him, Rubio, Jindal or Cruz……The GOPers want their Candidate in 2016…just the same pigmentation as their past GOP POTUS’………the main reason….a vocal few are dreaming of the lying bishop, one Willard Mitterrand Romney.

Saw my first Koch (I think) Bros sponsored ad against Senator Merkley. I was spouting off retorts to the entire ad points. Like Senator Merkley only introduced and passed one bill during his term. Me:” Ya, and what about all the bills the GOP obstructed and stopped from happening?” The ad had me rebutting every detail of it.

I hear that, LL:) It’s 105 here today and I have to run to the store and keep procrastinating…need to cut the lawn, keep procrastinating. Would go in the pool, but now we call it “blood water” because the temps about 98 degrees in the pool….I’m done. Haven’t looked it up, but my spidey senses tell me September is the hottest month in Cali.

Used to always take my vacation in September, after all the rugrats were back in school (in my day, school started mid-September, after Labor Day and after Admissions Day [September 9, the day Cali joined the USA], now I think it starts earlier than DF’s school) and can recall sweltering in San Francisco and Oregon since most places didn’t have air conditioning — back then only the major department stores had a/c and who wants to spend their vacay in a chain department store?

      Very coordinated look.

I have to admit I LOVE the fashions this season — I’ve always been partial to the practicality of layering, and now am able to do fashionably, LOL.

I usually ignore most fashion trends, but Forever 21 was selling camisoles (i.e., tank tops with spaghetti straps) for $1.88, and all the lacey, billowy blouses look good on just about every woman, regardless of age.

“Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko took centre stage at today’s (30 August) EU summit and said the Union’s heads of state and government had given his country broad support since it had faced “open aggression” from Russia, adding that the EU’s agenda from now on was largely revolving around Ukraine.

Poroshenko was invited to speak at the summit, which was initially intended only to decide the successors of Council President Herman Van Rompuy and EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton. Soon after Poroshenko took the floor, EU leaders elected Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk as Council President and appointed Italian Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini as High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security. They will take over when the mandate of the current holders expires later this year.

“Ukraine now is subject to foreign military aggression and terror,” Poroshenko said, appearing in front of the press alongside Commission President José Manuel Barroso. He said the situation had worsened since 27 August (see background) and that thousands of Russian troops and tanks were now on Ukrainian territory.”

  39. August 30, 2014 at 6:47 pm

Without any doubt, one of the most important ‘reforms’ Ukraine must effect, ASAP ….

“Ukrainian Defense Minister Valery Heletey stated the creation of the Internal Security Service within the Defense Ministry, which will search for enemy agents and document violations of orders.

“The Internal Security Service of the Defense Ministry is being created to uncover and neutralize enemy agents, facts of violation of military orders by commanders under my direct jurisdiction. We will see the results of its work in the nearest future,” the Minister wrote on his Facebook page.

“Today, like never before, it is important to get rid of the Russian fifth column in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Ministry of Defense, and, most importantly, in the units and departments that are involved in the ATO. Taking into account that time is of the essence, it is impossible to do it using only law enforcement bodies,” stated Heletey.”

Two days ago, Ukraine (finally) began enforcing a strict lid on release of tactical information – via social media, non-secure cellphone conversations, etc – from troops and volunteers in the war zone.

This tweet was posted some hours ago ….

But, the implications are only now beginning to emerge ….

…. and we can expect more delays in receiving verified details.

That’s a good thing as it will help keep more Ukrainians alive!!!

  43. August 30, 2014 at 7:22 pm

“When Nazi-Germany invaded the Soviet Union in 1941, the Wehrmacht swept through Ukraine with only little resistance from the Soviet Army, which had been severely weakened by Stalin’s purges and military incompetence. In their wake followed SS and the Einzatsgruppen, killing hundreds of thousands of civilians either because they were Jews or Communists or “sub-humans” such as mentally ill and mentally handicapped. Ukraine suffered heavily during the Second World War, probably most of all Soviet republics.

Yet interestingly, the tragedy of the Second World War is generally only connected to the suffering of Russia, and time and again used as an argument to explain why the country feels “threatened” and “in self-defense” feels the need to invade neighboring countries and set up puppet states. And this explanation, however false, is echoed by many in the West: we have to understand the Russians, they have suffered so much, they had Napoleon and Hitler, you need to give them a break and stop judging, they are just different.

Of course the argument is a completely faulty one. First of all, Russia itself is an imperium that has been created by conquest and subjugating other nations. Some of them, notably Siberian people, did not survive the onslaught and are extinct. Others are still recovering from decades of intense Russification. Also, many of the deaths during the Second World War are the result of decision of the “Genius” Iosif Vissarionovich Stalin, who was not such a genius at all but who just didn’t care for one minute whether 10,000, 100,000 or a million people would die. For instance, hundreds of thousands of Soviet soldiers died in the Finno-Russian war for… nothing. The argument was used in Soviet times and it was faulty, and it is faulty now again. Russia is an aggressor and has a long history of aggression.

As the heir of a formerly totalitarian country that caused so much suffering in this region, she should in fact be particularly sensitive to the needs of Ukraine, a country that stands up against it’s dictatorial neighbor that thinks it can just carve out pieces of land in complete violation of all international laws and agreements that shaped the post WW2 period. It is a shame she isn’t. Maybe somebody should give her a wake-up-call.”

      August 30, 2014 at 9:26 pm

Bob…….from my study of Russian history……two courses, undergrad and grad, this author hits the nail on the head. Russia has ever been an aggressor, accumulating more land and killing more people. Their leaders, whether Tsars or Soviets, just had limitless numbers of bodies to put through the killing machine, and neither cared whether it was 10,000 or 100,000 lives lost in a day. The poor men just kept coming. Putin is a true successor to these rapacious monsters.
