Morning all. Spent a frantic three hours last night trying to find my new and (expensive) hearing aid, which was there one minute and gone the next. Mr. G and I looked everywhere–all surfaces, all drawers, inside shoes, you name it. Finally, I just took off my glasses in despair to find the damned thing caught in the eyeglass chain I had around my neck. We didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

{{JackieG}} I can guess at the relief once it was found! Me I seem to take pleasure in periodically losing *my* glasses while they are still on my face or head. I suspect I need a new mind, but am hesitant to ask as I don’t want to lose any of my current memories in the reboot.

Ha. I’ve done that. It’s a shame when you live alone and you find your glasses only when you finally look in the mirror after turning your place inside out! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜Ž smh

I’ve done that too….looking for my glasses and they’re on my face. Once I realized I was seeing things too clearly. I was thankful only my cats saw me.

    • August 26, 2014 at 8:20 am

Laugh! It’s the best way to go. Your story brought a smile to my face, in empathy of course.

    • August 26, 2014 at 8:29 am

      GM Jackie….hahaha…..just laugh…

i thought i had lost my reading glasses…looked all over the house….even in the trash can…to no avail….opened the freezer to get ice cubes and there they were….how did they get there….remains a mystery….. smilin

    • August 26, 2014 at 8:48 am

How does CNN think anyone can take them seriously when they hire Allison Camorta from Fox after 2 she spent the last 6 years trashing PBO ?

It tells me that these pundits have strings attached like a puppet and just read from the telepromter in front of them….

    Opinions are obviously for sale.

  10. August 26, 2014 at 8:14 am

Woah, only catching up now, what the hell is that audio from CNN? Have they been able to verify it was of Wilson shooting? And who is the man speaking on it???

    • 60 vcprezofan2
      August 26, 2014 at 8:25 am

I haven’t listened to it, CC, but when was the last time CNN did more than cursory evaluation of anything before airing? I think the new approach is to put whatever they’ve got out there, and trust that enterprising viewers will do the checks and balances for them. One reason I didn’t even listen to it is that I figured I’d wait a couple of days for it to do the rounds and see whether a ‘certificate of authenticity’ or a disclaimer appears.

      August 26, 2014 at 9:57 am

CNN have not been able to verify the audio yet, but the man who the tape belong too has talk to the FBI. So you know the FBI has a copy of the audio. The man’s lawyer was talking to Don Lemon last night on Lemon’s show,

If I hear one more effing thing about the President being cold, aloof and GOLFING too much, I swear I’m gonna take someone out!!

    • August 26, 2014 at 8:22 am

And I’ll take out the next person!

    • 65 vcprezofan2
      August 26, 2014 at 8:30 am

Morning, GAMG and Alma-bee! Not to worry, some people have been so ‘cold’ themselves for so long that they cannot recognize warmth – their loss.

    • August 26, 2014 at 8:36 am

Especially since the people who accuse him of being cold don’t seem to get the President just isn’t into them in particular. If I had to have the doofus White House Press Corps around all the time, I would be a lot colder than aloof.

      August 26, 2014 at 8:52 am

We’ll all be there, Grace. Like you, I’m sick of the stupid. It does tell me, though, that they’ve got NOTHING. When you start to call a warm, people-friendly man, loving husband and father “disconnected,” you are desperate.

    • August 26, 2014 at 8:56 am

I trust that historians will give PBO credit for all that he achieved during his presidency; even more so because of all the obstruction of extremist groups and Koch-like operatives, as well as the dysfunction of this scandal-seeking Congress. It’s just sad that he isn’t getting the credit he deserves RIGHT NOW for all the good things he has accomplished!!!

Kate Kelly stands frozen at an empty intersection in Salt Lake City. There is no traffic coming in either direction.

“I need to wait for the signal,” she says, “I’m obedient, I’m a Mormon.” She laughs, her eyes twinkling behind her thick, retro-style glasses.

But if Ms Kelly thinks she’s an obedient Mormon, her Church leadership does not. She was excommunicated in June for founding a campaign to ordain women to the priesthood.

“You know, normally excommunication in our Church is for really grave sins like murder and child abuse,” she says. “I was excommunicated for stating a fact, which is that men and women are not equal in our Church.”

In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) – which claims a membership of 15 million worldwide – any male from the age of 12 and “in good standing” can join the priesthood. No female can.

Any church that suppresses women will always be living in the past. As much as Pope Francis is changing the Catholic church, women are still his blind spot. There will come a day when women across the world will no longer accept the imposition of patriarchy disguised as religion. I won’t see it, but I hope my granddaughter does.

This totally wrecks my image of a lobster – you wouldn’t get *me* even tasting this! In fact, silly as it seems, the sight of this almost makes me not want to eat the red one going forward.

  16. August 26, 2014 at 8:35 am

Morning All. I see our President continues to be unpopular. Haha.

  17. August 26, 2014 at 8:41 am

    the Price Tag….300, 000 dollas in tax-payer money…..

In recent years, GOP leaders have repeatedly said โ€œweโ€™re brokeโ€ as a nation, and as such Republicans cannot and will not invest in job creation or any other domestic priority. But miraculously, when GOP officials want to undermine the White House โ€“ or launch missiles in the Middle East โ€“ they discover some money hiding between the congressional couch cushions (or decide that paying for their priorities just isnโ€™t that important).

    • August 26, 2014 at 9:03 am

I bet if they (i.e., Boehner) had to front the money out of their personal funds, or had to reimburse taxpayers out of their personal accounts for the cost of all the faux scandal congressional hearings (i.e., Issa) they would not be so quick to file frivolous suits or waste time on partisan ventures that yield nothing for their efforts.

      • August 26, 2014 at 9:14 am

the problem is that we do not have an attentive citizenry….

‘had to reimburse taxpayers out of their personal accounts for the cost of all the faux scandal congressional hearings’

That I would like to see – and it wouldn’t even have to be a total refund to be a deterrent. I’d opt for 50%, or a rising scale based on the number of times they investigate the same issue – no charge the 1st time. Worded in such a way as not to deter politicians who genuinely, and on the basis of facts, see a need to investigate, I believe this could actually work.

    • August 26, 2014 at 9:43 am

This is money they are just flushing down the toilet because this lawsuit is going nowhere. And the cap is there only because of the elections. Otherwise they’d be spending a whole lot more.

    • 93 anniebella
      August 26, 2014 at 10:03 am

It’s okay to waste taxpayers money as long as it’s making that racists ass right wing base of theirs happy.

  18. August 26, 2014 at 8:50 am

Today is the Arizona primary. Since we have closed primaries, it is impossible to cross party lines. My friend is a Republican but votes Democrat. She can’t vote in Primary because there is no way to vote for Dem candidates. Ridiculous!

Looks as if Democratic fundraisers are back to using “Nate Silver says”….. as a gimmick. One look at that weasel’s name and I click delete. I wish they would get that we’re savvier than they are and know all about the value of little Nate’s flexible ‘predictions.’

    • August 26, 2014 at 9:16 am

I get so many *daily* back-to-back solicitation emails, that aside from the constant of asking for donations, the messages give the feeling of a rollercoaster ride. One email is talking about doom and gloom, the next one, within minutes, are claiming to be a few contributions shy of reaching a goal.

I understand the need for scare tactics, but it is getting tiresome. Unfortunately, Dem’s coast on good news, stop donating and don’t vote. Unfortunately, I understand it but I don’t like it.
