        Very well, Ms. Chips!
Just trying to catch up here from a week vacation with nine of the most wonderful, energetic, glorious women that I have ever met. It is taking me much longer than I expected. So excuse me while I lurk. So much is happening everyday, it is truly amazing. I come here and stay here for the truth. Thank you.

        • August 23, 2014 at 10:12 am

Ah, thrilled you had such a lovely vacation LDS, but I know it’s always sooooooo had to get back to normal after a perfect break like that. You’ll get there!!

    Good morning, Chips.
Late on the previous thread Hopefruit posted a tweet from Meta which I responded to at length. If you think the tweet and response would be of general interest please bring them over.

hf and Chips. Thank you. My response makes more sense when Meta’s tweet is with it. I am not trying to be ungrateful, here. It will take my hiring an in-home instructor to bring me into the 21st century.

    • August 23, 2014 at 10:11 am

      Morning Vicki!!!

Here is your highly excellent comment from the last thread:

You are so right, Meta. 5 out of the 6 front page stories on the NY Times yesterday knocked PBO in ways either subtle or overt. The 6th story had to do with hospital room design so I guess they couldn’t link it negatvely to PBO. Here is a quick snapshot of NYT front page news on 8/22:

      1) US General Says Raiding Syria is Key to Halting ISIS. (PBO is too little? too late?? something, whatever.)
      2) Settling for 16 Billion,Bank knows it will Pay Less…( PBO hasn’t done enough to really punish banks who are still in charge of weak President)
      3) A Terrorist Horror, Then Golf Incongruity Fuels Obama Critics) Speaks for itself, doesn’t it???)
      4) Israel Kills 3 top Hamas and Fighting Turns its Way. (Subtext here is that even in the face of hideous injustice the so-called saviour president cannot do much Why vote?)
      5) Nat’l Guard Pulling Out of Ferguson as Tensions Ease. (See comment #4.)

This is supposed to be the most respected newspaper in USA. If you pay attention you will see that the NUZ dept is undesguised propaganda.

And yes, there was a short editorial on the op-ed page—-bottom of the page—- that discussed PBO’s success in addressing poverty.

I explained to Ms. Chips up above that I am trying to catch up here so it looks like I will be lurking for a good while.
Also, being mindful of what is happening all over the world, a corporate fast and prayer is needed. It is keeping me grounded.

I think the DIY Centers are nationwide – they’re pretty plain-packaged, but I get a flyer in the mail from them.

I LOOOOOOVE that picture of the magnificent four! They look so young and hopeful, we felt so hopeful, and in spite of the odds, they have accomplished so much.

So tired of the naysayers all around! I think many just want disappointment. They got so accustomed to it during GWB’s years, that they still cannot accept that good things are happening. I choose hope and love.

don’t really remember having a favorite. probably entertained the idea of john edwards (obviously would’ve been a disaster), and definitely wanted nothing to do with the clintons. i was worried joe was just going to be another washington insider since he’s been there so long, but then i found out he was never in the d.l.c. and other things like that, so of course our now-president knew that and that joe wasn’t like the others. moral of the story as always – trust barack!

Me too JO’Boomer….I was thrilled because Joe has lots of valuable experience in the Senate and in government. He was my pick for president before Barack won in Iowa, I knew he had a good chance of beating Hillary and as more people of all stripes got on board I felt we had a winning combination.

Dyson and his ilk are the one’s who think PBO is some kind of savior, who can run here and there at their whim, while also trying to attend to the escalating national security issues around the world. And how dare he try to relax by playing golf. It’s not like he’s under any kind of stress.

Sometimes when people start down a road, instead of admitting that they took the wrong path, they keep going. For people like MED, they are sometimes so adamant when they make a statement, backtracking might send a statement that, contrary to what *their* mind tells them, they don’t know everything and their opinions are not fact.

I agree VC. He seems to think it’s impressive to express his thoughts in words using three syllables or more. Constantly trying to show his *brilliance* tends to take away from the message.

      Thisssssssssss from the Article…

Obama cares. Deeply. But if you’re expecting him to do seemingly heroic and showy things that make you feel good but do nothing to actually fix big, systemic problems in the long-term you will never be satisfied. And to demand that he do so in light of the information void out of Ferguson is foolish. All the energy being used to harangue the president should be directed at officials in Ferguson and St. Louis County who have refused to release key documents in the case. Why haven’t they released the first autopsy of Michael Brown? Or Ferguson Police Report #2014-12391? Or St. Louis County Police Report #2014-43984?

Loved the Pictures from Aug 23rd, 2008. 6 yrs. Wow!

Dyson, MPH, etc……had they been active during MLK, they would still have negative comments to attack. Note: Those who Talk, talk. Then Those who do, will Do. What stopped Dyson, MHP from going to Ferguson? MHP could claim that her 6 month old….as the issue. Dyson doesn’t have a six month old. Again, those who talk……as the saying goes……Talk is cheap. In a democracy…..Talkers are needed…..But snarling at every turn is truly disruptive.

What is the difference here in the rightie treatment of MBrown and the academicians treatment of pres Obama?

When blatant distortions are allowed to cloud the truth…..how does that help to educate, heal and inform?

Those raising funds for Wilson and those making money off 24/7 total criticism of pres Obama…..what gives?
How would Dyson, MHP and others would like to be told what to say, do, act and behave 24/7? Is the president Not Human? Does he feel Zero pain? Is there never enough from those wanting a pound of his flesh? Brutus or Shylock in 2014?

“Barrow of Augusta is running for a sixth House term in Georgia’s 12th District, where his re-election chances hinge on the Democrat’s ability to win support from independent and conservative voters in a seat drawn to favor Republicans.”

If it comes down to voting for a real Republican or Republican-lite voters in that district are going to choose the Republican. Barrow is going to be sitting home after November wondering what happened.

Very sensible and sound editorial. Thanks for linking it.
I have an idea about all the brouhaha over PBO’s vacation…..only half serious. GWB used to that hot, windy, dry, “ranch” in Texas….so the press corps figured that could NOT be a vacation. It was horrible for them, nothing to do but sweat, so obviously not a vacay for the prez. However, PBO goes to delightful places, Hawaii, Cape Cod…..so that is truly a vacation…….They forget all the times GWB spent at his family spot in Kennebunkport, Maine. They remember the hot dry Texas.

    • August 23, 2014 at 1:35 pm

      Thisssssssssss from the article…

Everything about that situation is awful, and the perpetrators must be punished accordingly. But it doesn’t constitute a national crisis that demands a world leader cut short precious time being used to recuperate and relax from a very stressful job

The conservative press knows this. It defended President Bush for taking vacation time during legitimate crises for which the Bush Administration was utterly unprepared. It also knows that no persuadable voters will remember this kerfuffle a month from now.

But they just can’t help themselves. The cheap opportunism is reflexive at this point

  33. August 23, 2014 at 1:34 pm

With 2 years left in the presidency we will now see who the super phonies are. Prime example: Michael Eric Dyson. He’s a suck up early in PBO’s presidency but now he wants some notoriety and tv exposure so any excuse for an attack on PBO will do. What a creep. The former supporters turning are even worse than the Tavis Smiley’s of the world. I read somewhere that PBO calls these people ‘professional blacks’ as opposed to black professionals. What I love is that PBO doesn’t blink over stupid things like calls to go to Ferguson for cheap photo ops or playing golf OR back slapping other politicians. I like that he maintains his standards and personal dignity.

  34. August 23, 2014 at 1:36 pm
