Morning everyone, happy Thursday!
Morning bt.
That’s a HOOT!!!! Morning Mister!
There’s a rebel inside of me too! 😀
Obviously, the GOP tries to defund anything that is a threat or a potential threat to *their* interests. Anything that might allow others to move up into their realm (education, health, employment/wages, justice & equality, equal treatment under the law, etc.) is considered a threat.
GM Chips and amk. Protest in my world by Uni students against the PM. Police brought in the horses. I sometimes think we live in the 1800s – but guess horses are better than a war machine. Frustrating that universities ask such a person to speak.
GE 99ts.
Evening 99ts, it really does seem like the rewind button has been hit, from Australia to Missouri and everywhere in between. Meanwhile in Ireland, they’re still denying rape victims the right to have an abortion:
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/aug/18/ireland-woman-forced-caesarean-pregnant-rape-friend
Sometimes you feel like not getting up in the morning.
This is why I sleep in and have an afternoon kip – it avoids getting up in the morning & the news is old by the time I see it. Advantage of retirement.
As for abortion issues – the church – any church – all churches – has MUCH to answer for in its treatment of women. It should not matter HOW one gets pregnant – abortion is an option that should be available to all women – denial of such is just another way men force their will on women. Any woman who is against abortion has been brainwashed. My opinion and it will never change.
I’m with you 99ts, 100 per cent. The simple fact that most of the bible-waving anti-abortion screamers don’t give a shit about a child once it’s born is proof that it is absolutely all about trying to control women’s choices about their own bodies. They couldn’t care less about fetuses, just putting the ladies in their place.
Agree with both of you:) Morning all…
🙂 Morning DesertFlower!!
gm df – I hope one day our world will truly be equal for all who live here – my wish for the grandbabe 🙂
me too
THIS
Morning Alice!!
a happy good morning to you and all of TOD! Thanks for the stellar coverage on Ferguson!
THIS.
It’s really wrong when I want a drink at 8:00 a.m.
Somewhere in the world it is past noon time 57 – live in another timeset 🙂
🙂 The news these days would do that to you 57, it really would. Good morning to you!
Morning, girlfriend! How’s the lad?
He’s in the garden barking at a lemon he stole from the kitchen. He bit in to it and almost passed out, now he’s furious with it. I confidently predict, it will be the last lemon he steals.
Morning, C²!
Sticking my nose in here to take issue with your choice of words. Is or is not DannyO the son of the house? If so, why do you use words like ‘stole’, ‘steals’ when he helps himself to a fruit or two? Do you want him to feel like a visitor, having to ask for something as simple as a lemon? I don’t get it!
u r absalootlee rite CeeVee!1!1!
Morning D-stix! You have to help the situation though by using your allotted swimming time judiciously – ‘it takes TWO, babe’!
I am crying with laughter!
Reminds me of Rufus stealing a hot pepper. He thought he would die, but it was food and he had to save face, so he bit into it again. And thought he would die…….
Good Morning….
” The most trusted name in News ” is showing the Piaget Crenshaw video while talking about the new witness Michael Brady with Anderson Cooper last night.
Brady took his own video which was much farther away from the crime scene.
LOL.
And the best/worst part was it was an old, torn tennis ball of their mother’s.
Which she probably loved – oh, boys!
GM Chips and TOD.
Mooooooorning COS!
No respect for their elders. Mama dog is probably shaking her head thinking, what have I done wrong.
Jackie, I reckon Mama dog is now thinking: “I shoulda used contraception.” 🙂 Morning!
LOL – I was thinking she would blame their behavior on Dad – I so remember explaining to Mr 99 what HIS child was doing.
🙂 I think the general rule is that they’re the Dad’s kids when they do awesome things, and they’re the mothers’ when they’re naughty.
Is that right Amk?
You have that SOooooo back to front. The angel was mine
😆 Did Mr 99ts agree?
He wasn’t asked his opinion. That would be a very stupid idea.
You’re a wise woman 🙂
always. why is that even a question?
She has basically given up – both on the ball and the boys.
Like mothers the world over 🙂
amk, are you positioning these puppies in cute poses so you can photograph them?? 🙂
watch it. next time, I’ll post a video.
😀 😀
Good Thursday Chipsticks…TOD Family!!!
Gooooooood morning swbluega!
Morning all, our local Republican Party continues to provide unintended hilarity. Yesterday some R’s picketed their own headquarters while inside the Republican leadership refused ANY support, financial or otherwise, to their own candidate, who fairly won the primary election. So now there is more anger among Republican factions than there is between R’s and D.s All of this is being aired out on the front pages of the local newspaper so it’s like seeing monkeys fling poo at each other in front of the crowds.
Fabulous!! 🙂
Bring this over from previous post…
Good News….

“Emory University Hospital to announce release of American Ebola patients”
http://www.wsbtv.com/news/news/local/first-american-ebola-patient-be-released-emory-uni/ng6YL/
Emory University Hospital will hold a news conference Thursday afternoon to talk about the release of both Ebola patients currently being treated at the hospital. Dr. Kent Brantly is expected to be present at the news conference to make a statement.
The news conference at Emory University Hospital will take place at 11 a.m. Brantly will make a statement at that time but will not take any questions.
SW, now we’re going to hear scary stories about how these patients are going to infect the population. Spew ignorance, stir up the crowds, create havoc and criticism of ….PBO. Wash. Rinse. repeat.
GM JackieG.
Yes, I’ve already heard that there is speculation as to whether these patients are still contagious. One, I truly don’t believe that Emory (probably in consultation with the CDC) would release these patients if they were a risk to the public. Two, it doesn’t appear that either of these patients are planning to do a lot of socializing as they both seem to want privacy and seclusion for the time being. Three, I doubt any of the worrywarts personally know either of these patients, much less will be close enough to them to be concerned.
G’morning Chips & TOD! Happy Thursday everyone. 🙂
Gooooooooooooooooooood morning Hopefruit!!
I was laughing to myself yesterday when I remembered the time I told you on TOD about a tweet I got from Aspirational on Twitter.
Sometimes, I still get severely confused about who’s who’s here and who’s who there 🙂
LOL – I don’t even remember that time, but I could totally see that happening. Many don’t know we are the same. Heh! 🙂
That @sonamie person is strange, thank heavens she doesn’t comment here. 🙄
I know. I think she and Mark Knoller are an item on Twitter. LOL! 🙂 🙂
Jealous?
Yup. When she comes here, you should totally ban her.
I definitely will, promise – we don’t want that kind of oddness here.
egg.sack.lee
There’d be a tsunami of geese and portapotties at the gate – is that what you all miss?
😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆
That kinder, gentler GOP is never going to happen….

“Paul Ryan: I’m Keeping Tax Cuts for the Rich”
http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2014/08/paul-ryan-im-keeping-tax-cuts-for-the-rich.html
Reducing the top tax rate has been the Republican Party’s highest priority for a quarter century. Since the 2012 election, a handful of apostates have gently urged it to change course. Paul Ryan…has a message for the reformers who want to change course: forget it. Ryan…“made it clear that he disagrees with some conservatives who are willing to accept a high top tax rate in order to increase the child tax credit.”
Starting in the early 1980s, supply-side economics emerged as the Republican Party’s policy doctrine…Accordingly, Republicans have valued low tax rates over absolutely everything else.
In the 2012 election, that commitment turned into a major liability for the party. The Republican ticket ran on a somewhat sketchily defined plan to reform taxes, the impact of which would have been to give the richest one percent a huge tax cut and impose higher taxes on the middle class.
The Republican reformers have, correctly, identified the commitment to reducing the top tax rate as a major (or even the major) liability. The most important theme of “Room to Grow,” a policy manifesto by “reform conservatives,” is that the GOP should abandon supply-side economics.
Ryan has positioned himself as a reformist in some ways. He acknowledged that calling people who get government benefits “takers” is *mean*. On the other hand, Ryan is a longtime, deeply devoted supply-sider. So Ryan is cross-pressured here, between a faction that is attempting to excise the party’s weaknesses and his own most fundamental convictions.
I don’t think Paul Ryan should change his message at all; it is a message that keeps getting him elected. The white working class feels that they are under siege so they continue to vote for Ryan, even though Ryan does not appear to be slowing down in his efforts to fuck them in ways that the Karma Sutra haven’t thought of. Politicians don’t change; it is the voter that must change.
Truly amazing that someone who was raised with government assistance acts the way this man does act. He hasn’t earned a thing – gets his support from the government and his wife.
He wants to pretend like he never had any help [the “I built this” mentality]. Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps is not supposed to entail any government assistance. His pretense is so ingrained, he sees no problem with denying others the resources and opportunities that helped him to get ahead.
So….the ALL WHITE PR firm hired by the Ferguson Mayor thinks it is a good idea to promote the town with ” I love Ferguson T-shirts and yard signs in ALL WHITE neighborhoods ?
How out of touch …..
UGH…Clueless and tone deaf.
Nor do they give the appearance of wanting to be in touch. The interview that Chris Hayes did with the mayor in the OTHER Ferguson leads me to believe that as long as the issues that plague the black and/or low-income residents do not touch them, then all is well as far as they are concerned.
Agree. I am no expert on body language. However, I paid close attention to his body language the entire interview…….actually paid closer attention to that than what he was saying. He was majorly uncomfortable. Yes, most of his answers to Chris were lame and he repeated a lot so both verbal and non-verbals reveal he doesn’t have a clue.
Going to the Y this morning, I heard Ari R. interview Jerryl Christmas. It was a great listen. Would be awesome if we could get audio of it. Yeah, I know, it’s XM radio so may not be possible. Christmas is a defense attorney (AA) in STL.
uh uh uh
Of course if everything benefits you,you will love it.
Obama’s economy! No wonder the media/GOP are no longer talking about it.
I wonder why we have not heard from or seen the drivers of the cars that were behind the police vehicle because it had blocked the road.
Also…was Wilson driving a patrol car or an SUV…I have heard both.
If he wasn’t the AG – he would still be being stopped on the Turnpike.
IMO, stopping on turnpike by some ignorant police officer is still a possibility. I suspect a lot of officers are quite ignorant and many probably wouldn’t recognize him – unless his vehicle has some kind of identification.
gm vc – you are right – sad to say – but given his current position he probably doesn’t drive himself very often
Really, guys? I never thought about whether he drove himself or not. You others who know more in this area – Does the AG have a SS detail?
He would HAVE to vc
http://www.veooz.com/photos/VHQto2Y.html
I never paid any attention to them in yesterday’s vid-segments, TS. If I did subconsciously note their presence, I probably thought it was because he was going into a tense situation. Thanks.
and from when he was ill
“Holder, 63, experienced symptoms during a regular senior-staff meeting in the morning and his FBI security detail called an ambulance.”
http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/27/politics/holder-hospitalized/
TOD has such terrific, and efficient, reporters who know the value of ‘supporting evidence’! Wish I could find answers as quickly as some of you. Thanks again!
de google 🙂
Doesn’t like me! I invariably spend 15 mins or so looking for info that folks here find when I blink once. [Don’t tell anyone but son recently told me, in effect if not in actual words, I’m too wordy. I was looking for a video that I’d seen here ages ago to show to him, and after several annoying attempts, he reached around and put in 2 or 3 words…and voilà! Apparently my search was too specific. 😦 ]
I LOVE ERIC HOLDER AND AM GLAD HE IS THERE BECAUSE THE MEDIA IS DOING NOTHING BUT KEEPING PEOPLE IN THE STREETS…THEY NEED TO RESPECT THE AG AND WHAT HE CAN DO AND GO HOME AND WAIT FOR JUSTICE TO PREVAIL..THE MEDIA IS DAMAGING THIS COUNTRY AND PEOPLE NEED TO WAKE UP TO THAT FACT! THE MEDIA AND EXTREMISTS WANT HOT POTS TO MELT ALL OVER AMERICA AND FRANKLY ‘CHANGE’ WILL COME WHEN WE PUT GOD BACK WHERE HE BELONGS IN OUR LIVES….NUMERO UNO!
Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family.
Gooooooooooood morning GGail!! Goooooooal!
GOOOOAAAALLLLLL 😀
As a Manchester United fan, GGail, your GOOOOOOALLLLLs are about the only ones I see these days. 😥
I know that feeling Chips! I am a long fan of the LA Clippers b-ball team. They have improved greatly, but it’s taken a l o n g time, so keep hope alive 🙂
BREAKING!
😆 Morning Dote-ster!!!
OK, I was ready to embrace my new handle—–thought it meant I was cherished and adored—-adorable. Then see today the original meaning was “silly and feeble-minded due to old age”—–so that sorta put a damper on my dote-ster enthusiasm. Not AS perky and proud about it. 🙂
I am totally suing that dictionary! An ugly case it will be too: “Silly and feeble-minded due to old age” vs “Sweetheart.”
I will win. Trust me. Hold my coat.
Sigh. I remember when the Sun-Times was one of the best papers in the country. when they did reporting and stuff. And cutting-edge commentary like Mike Royko.
Sigh……..
Loved Royko—-used to be a daily highlight —–mr. dote-ster and I would read it to each other and laugh our heads off. Now—–all we have to laugh at is a “It’s raining” tweet.
Ah, the days of walking to the el, picking up a paper and reading Royko……..
You learn a lot going through the POU twitter feed.
I needed this LOL moment this morning:
It ain’t the Nat Turner Gun Club, but it’ll do.
BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA AH
Good Morning, Everyone 🙂
Mooooorning Rikyrah!!
Good morning BFF and TOD.
LIVE NOW: Attorney General Eric Holder delivers remarks regarding the Bank of America $17 billion settlement with the Justice Department – http://www.cbsnews.com/liveFeed/widget.shtml

There were 2 beheadings during the Bush years.
Anyone remember his responses or any criticism of his response ? Did he make any attempts to free them ? Me neither.
OOPS..not 2 but 4 beheadings
Wow, what a list Linda – and people united in grief, rather than using the deaths to score points against the President.
Those were the days, hey?
THIS NEEDS TO BE SET OUT EVERYWHERE………………………I WISH I COULD PUT THIS ON FB.
GM all.
Linda, so glad you did this . This is one of the more despicable things the media has done:
Actually, I am enjoying how even minor things about PBO riles up the wingers and their msm ass kissers. perpetual poutrage.
These kind of headlines are part and parcel of what is happening in Ferguson…how these headlines and stories stroke the tone for this president..encouraging the racial animosity towards the first family….and blk folks in general…
my concern re : AG Holder in Ferguson…is that although he has rule of law on his side…he is a Blk Man….he will be challenged as a white man would not be….
but as he said..Change does not happen by itself…and the underbelly of the racist beast in this country has been revealed in a raw and unvarnished way…for America and the world to see….
As I said before the President playing golf and vacationing doesn’t bother me.
I am not trying to be mean or anything, but the journalists knew the danger he could face, he choose to go over there to Syria. So why is it that things should stop cause he was kill, everyday people are kill.
I feel sorry for the parents losing their son, I also feel sorry for Michael Brown’s parents, Trayvon’s parents, the man who was choke to death in New York, his parents..
Do you have a link for that, Linda? I would like to tweet it.
Hmm. I just got followed by “politics and hip hop” It seems to be a site that gathers different kinds of news articles. I’m just checking it out right now. There’s stuff on Ferguson and St Louis, a carbon short documentary, some guy that turned in his medal of honor from israel back – just lots of different things. Anybody here heard of this site? here’s the link if you are interested:

Good Morning TOD
Can anyone who watches that mess of a show confirm this?
What????
I turned him off when he started with the bad optics golf gate BS…..
Ike golfed during the Korean War and over 800 times in his 8 years.
Oh my gawd:
http://www.mediaite.com/tv/scarborough-obama-golfing-shows-isis-hes-one-cold-bastard/
He has the warmest heart of any President in 200 years – the pundits just can’t believe that he doesn’t drop before them in thanks for their words.
I would bet that all of Joe’s ex-wives call him a cold bastard .
I’m not his ex-wife and I think he is a racists ass bastard.
this is one of the comments from the page…
The Royal Emperor…
All of our great presidents during times of war, conflict and crises knew that the strongest image for the world was to appear as if they were not being held hostage to events. Lincoln continued with Sunday rides around D.C. and parties at the White House, Wilson kept up an active social schedule, Roosevelt and Truman made pointed efforts to show that their work and their lives continued. Obama is following a strong, wise precedent. By contrast, our European allies are constantly meeting the demands of kidnappers. We’re showing what we need to be showing. And God help the ISIS/ISIL perpetrators. Obama is cold and ruthless and tracking down and catching these folks.
Good morning TOD. Reading all your postings, my esteemed journalist friends here, I see that Lawrence did some good work on exposing the NY Times. I am happy when sanity appears on TV.
This morning’s ” all in for GOP” propaganda piece is by Corporate Tool and sad sack dope, John Harwood . Title?
“Loss in Midterm Elections Could Be Boon For Clinton.”
Just trying to depress Democratic voters and make them feel OK about not voting in the upcoming mid-terms. Helps GOP…mmmm.
And the premise is not true either.
Sadly, there is little hope that either of the Clintons will debunk this and go campaigning for Congressional Democrats for the 2014 mid-terms.
It’s (late) morning in my corner so I’m happy to see I haven’t missed the early birders around here!
Howdy, active TODobots, retired TODobots, aspiring TODobots, lurking TODobots…..in short….everybody!
Howdy VC. TOD never sleeps. I see postings from 4 am. I get that we are in different parts of the world but still….get some sleep, people.
Up above, hf told us the Unemployment rate fell below 300,000 again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In a sane world with a non-partisan press that would be the big news.
Greetings, Vicki! May your Thursday be more uplifting than your Wednesday!
Just wanted to thank the blog tyrants for the wonderful job they do keeping the gremlins away from TOD blog and twitter. I usually browse LGF most days and Charles Johnson seems to get hit by RWNJs all the time – so I imagine some try very hard to post on TOD
Everything you do to ensure TOD stays the friendly supportive news site that it is, is much appreciated – it is surely a time consuming task that we rarely hear about, but know is happening.
