I TiVo Rev Al, Maddow, and Lawrence then fast forward through what I do not like. The Iraq segment seemed like her usual fear that PBO will not keep his promise so I fast forwarded the segment. Am currently watching the Fergussen segment which seems quite informative.

And that seems to be Maddow’s real problem with this president. TRUST. Tired of her disrespect. Call and get a real sit down with him and discuss his policies. True journalism is asking the tough questions, if she has concerns. President Barack Obama does not shy away from fair and honest questions. Trust and Respect, Maddow. Those are the two very important standards you may use to speak to me about PBO. Other than that, I have no need to watch your hair burn. HZ

St. Louis police, who are in charge tonight, handled the arrest, Ferguson chief said they didn’t know what they were doing and ordered 2 reporters released. Oh well then——good to know. Seems a lot don’t know what they’re doing.

    • August 13, 2014 at 9:36 pm

I’m sickened that this might become THE story rather than the death of Mike Brown. This always happens – journalists become the story. UGH.

      • August 13, 2014 at 9:49 pm

That’s how I felt too Meta, although I appreciate the work most of the media there are doing to highlight this obscenity. But it is NOT about them and a nasty experience with a cop, it’s about Michael Brown and the behavior of the authorities towards the community since then.

        • 56 99ts
          August 13, 2014 at 9:52 pm

And I would think the behavior of the authorities BEFORE Mike Brown was killed. The culture that was and is encouraged in such police departments led to what has happened.

I feel like the treatment of the reporters by the police helps highlight the insane behavior of the force which reflects back on Michael’s treatment. I think it emphasizes their inept behavior instead of overshadowing it.

I’m sorry, Ms. McCaskill, but it is the police who escalate the ‘tenseness’ – when you have cops referring to citizens as ‘animals’, they are expressing what they think of the same folks they are supposed to be serving. They see us as the enemy.. and that has never been truer than what’s happening in Ferguson.

Jackiegrumbacher, also remember that she and Roy Blunt are the two senators of MO. We surely recognize that she has clout with the Gov. Jay Nixon. And she should be working with Blunt’s arse as well. They represent the state. The peoples state. What the hell. She has been working those darn phones for days now. McCaskill was a badass prosecutor for years and she surely knows how to ask the tough questions. That is why I called her out as well. We know that they all call each other. Shame on both senators of MO., and all 8 Reps. That also include the local and state official. Worthless greedy people. And she was always writing to me begging for money.

No, I do not appreciate how she walks around now once she turned coat on PBO. Just saying. HZ

I am wondering if all these “police” are really national guard. Isn’t it against the law for national guard to be police? Also, there are approximately 30K people in Ferguson, MO and 67% are African American and 29% White….people need to vote these mayors, city counsel, attorney general and whatever offices held in that town OUT! Unless the town is heavily gerrymandered I just don’t see how there are so few blacks holding office.

They said the 19 he would be going back to Martha Vineyard. Maybe Rachel didn’t hear this cause she wasn’t at work last week.

this is a bio of the State Senator sitting on the ground with the protestors….

Maria N. Chappelle-Nadal is a Democrat from University City, Missouri, who represents District 14 in the Missouri State Senate. She is also a former member of the Missouri House of Representatives from District 72, a position which she held from 2005 to 2011. In 2010, Chappelle-Nadal was elected to the Senate to succeed fellow Democrat Rita Heard Days of St. Louis. She is a graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia.

    Democratic party activist[edit]

Chappelle-Nadal was one of Missouri’s superdelegates to the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado. Uncommitted at first, she declared her support for Democratic candidate Barack Obama on the same day that the commonwealth of Puerto Rico held its Democratic presidential primary. Chappelle-Nadal’s mother is Puerto Rican. [1]

    I have a question..

who has the authority to intervene right now to have the Ferguson police department stand down?…I remember reading something a while ago that the President can no longer call in a State’s National guard …as they did to defend black people during the early days of desegregation…is this true?…..

and what if the President could ….would there be a standoff between the local police the National Guard??

    • August 13, 2014 at 10:24 pm

answered some of my own questions…

When National Guard units are not under federal control, the governor is the commander-in-chief of the units of his or her respective state.

On September 24, 1957 President Dwight D. Eisenhower federalized the entire Arkansas National Guard in order to ensure the safe entry of the Little Rock 9 to Little Rock Central High School the following day. Governor Orval Faubus had previously used members of the guard to deny the students entry to the school

13.The John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007 Pub.L. 109-364 Federal law was changed in section 1076 so that the Governor of a state is no longer the sole commander in chief of their state’s National Guard during emergencies within the state. The President of the United States will now be able to take total control of a state’s National Guard units without the governor’s consent.[40] In a letter to Congress, all 50 governors opposed the increase in power of the President over the National Guard.[41]

14.The National Defense Authorization Act 2008 Pub.L. 110-181 Repeals provisions in section 1076 in Pub.L. 109-364 but still enables the President to call up the National Guard of the United States for active federal military service during Congressionally sanctioned national emergency or war. Places the National Guard Bureau directly under the Department of Defense as a joint activity. Promoted the Chief of the National Guard Bureau from a three-star to a four-star general.

This is on the Governor….but if PBO wanted to use the guard in this instance I think that the governor has to be on board if this is not a Congressionally sanctioned national emergency or war….

Just a comparison. Police brutality is quite common here as are people “rioting” over the police atrocity. But most of the time, civilian authorities take over when the situation seems to get out of hand and police are ordered to stand down. District admin officials play a crucial role over containing the police. Amazing to see it is not happening here.

It is looking like the Brown family who has had their murdered son returned to them will shortly know exactly how many bullets shattered Michael’s body and took his life.
isn’t it at least possible that the out-of-control SWAT action happening now is a deliberate attempt to obscure these facts? Cover up the execution with “looting” scenarios and huge civil unrest so as to make the victim culpable or at the very least to share in blame for his own slaying.

These maneuvers may have worked before cameras and Rodney King but I am hopeful that we won’t get sidetracked by the horrific after-effects to the point where we forget who has lost his life. And who must take the blame.
