Don’t know yet how legit this is, but hoping it will share credible info on PBO’s vacay.

Ooooo, pretty. That’s an early sunset time though. I’m following them now, so I’ll keep an eye out to see when they have a comment on the O’s. 😉

Honestly, Bobfr, the Obamas have dragged me into lots of twitter links all over the world! Links I tend to un-follow once The O’s leave their environment. Now that I remember I haven’t yet un-followed the new African link I hooked up with while the A-leaders were here. 😉

        • August 12, 2014 at 11:50 pm

I love being ‘dragged through’ all those Obama-instigated geographically unique Twitter links, VC 🙂 Some I continue to enjoy long after the Obamas have moved on.

I mostly desert them after PBO/Michelle leaves because I find twitter confusing enough and those two keep me so busy anyways. There’s never a dull moment. 😀

My oh my…six years into his Presidency and the fascination with him and his daily/nightly activities continues…Don’t ever recall this day-to-day tracking of a Prez while he was on vacay. Now we are being treated to a daily journal of our President’s summer vacation. Not that I’m complaining or anything. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Me, I’m not complaining, hypocrite that I am. I want the O’s to have a lovely vacation, undisturbed by the WHPC and any other negative, non-restorative force. I want to know they are having fun, dammit! 😀

This whole image was ruined for me. I was scrolling up, saw the dog, thought it was a scene tonight from Ferguson, MO.

Glad to see it was the First Couple out and about. Hope they could relax and enjoy themselves!

The crowds and cheering PBO’s appearances still bring forth does not compute with the RW polls. Just as the crowds appearing during the two election campaigns did not match with the so called polling.

WOMAN: Would you get married again?
    MAN: Definitely not!
WOMAN: Why not – don’t you like being married?
    MAN: Of course I do.
WOMAN: Then why wouldn’t you remarry?
MAN: Okay, I’d get married again.
WOMAN: You would? (with a hurtful look on her face)
    MAN: (makes audible groan)
WOMAN: Would you sleep with her in our bed?
MAN: Where else would we sleep?
WOMAN: Would you put away my pictures, and replace them with pictures of her?
MAN: That would seem like the proper thing to do.
WOMAN: And would you let her use my golf clubs?
    MAN: She can’t use them; she’s left-handed.
    WOMAN: – – – silence – – –
    MAN: Sh&%.

Just read through the last thread, and saw @jbarro’s tweet:

I responded, but first I have to get off of my chest that I was insulted by his Twitter profile which says “I have never eaten at a Taco Bell.”

I’ve been eating at Taco Bell since I was able to drive. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love Taco Bell, and in the 1970s prided myself on my knowledge of where Taco Bells were located between here and San Francisco. One of my friends likes to say that I’m as Japanese as a Taco Bell, which is true and is also hilarious.

In the 1960s they had very few locations in the San Diego area, but the one near San Diego State did booming business. I know it’s gotten a bad rap lately because its meat is mostly filler, but I usually stick with the original menu items of bean burritos and tostadas.

I absolutely hate snobs, and east coast snobs are the worst. He may be more of a snob than @AnnieLowrey, which I didn’t think was possible.

He penned an article last week for @nytimes which argued that we should eliminate taxes on corporations.

I am personally offended by this person, and this will be the first and last tweet I ever send this idiot.

    End of rant.

But consider this. How many troops did we have stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan? Why did the military “need” (i.e., enrich contractors) nearly 25,000 MRAPs?

Your tweet was very informative, and your rant was understandable.

That said, excuse the language in this tweet which responded to a dumbass response to dumbass Barro’s tweet* …

(*That was my rant, because it’s been that kind of an August.)

I’m glad @jbarro’s followers prove themselves to be idiots.

This is what our lazy media has done — they fail to inform the American public that we had 1 MRAP per 6 soldiers (or whatever the ratio was) for our decade-long wars, and now these vehicles are being repainted black and are roaming our streets (or parked in police parking lots).

Did you see this from Caldwell Idaho, population 46,000? (In the west they don’t even have to go through the trouble of painting the MRAPs):

        • 56 jacquelineoboomer
          August 12, 2014 at 11:42 pm

Thanks, yes, I did see that picture from Idaho – was telling a friend about it on the phone today. Sickening. I’m not against police officers bound to “protect and serve,” of course, but among them are a bunch of overkilling (literally) crazies riding shotgun (literally) in these things or alone in their squad cars, telling innocent teenagers to get out of the middle of the street or they’ll shoot.

    • August 12, 2014 at 11:37 pm

“But consider this. How many troops did we have stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan? Why did the military “need” (i.e., enrich contractors) nearly 25,000 MRAPs?”

Concur with your disgust with Barro’s attitude, for starters, Arapaho.

Moreover, as I’ve tried to communicate in various online venues, the root of all the evil is the fact that the #MIC has contrived a robust system of generating fear for the purpose of expanding demand for ever more lethal and pervasive weapons.

Until Americans decide they will not be manipulated by fear and, thereby, refuse to elect people who will appropriate their tax dollars to enrich the #MIC, the cycle will persist.

We have all the sophisticated weapons systems we will ever need to deter any aggressor from attacking the USA.

We would be way safer, healthier, and economically sustainable if we stopped funding fear (WEAPONS) and funded education, renewable energy, climatic mitigation technology, rigorous critical journalism, equitable access to broadband Internet access, paid leave, livable minimum wage, unimpeded voter rights, immigration reform, comprehensive women’s rights and a non-compromising system of justice for every American irrespective of race, religious preference, sexual orientation, age, disability or gender.

Only path to that America is via #OWNthe114th, and, thereafter, never hinder the momentum toward a more just America that President Obama catalyzed these past 5+ years.

      Yes WE MUST

Your rant made me laugh so much. AZ native here & I hated Taco Bell for putting our local drive through cheap taco joint out of business back in the early ’70s but I learned to love those Taco Bell bean burritos when I moved away from AZ for a number of years & Taco Bell was the only thing I could get in some Dios forgotten place on the road to no where. However, Taco Bell is only for the desperate….just saying & don’t hate me, por favor!

    Dear Tech Support:

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed that the new program began making unexpected changes to the accounting modules, limiting access to flower and jewelry applications that had operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.9 installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0 and NBA 3.0. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs and Cleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. I’ve tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

    Dear Desperate,

Keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an entertainment package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Try to enter the command: C:/ I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME and install Tears 6.2. Husband 1.0 should then automatically run these applications: Guilty 3.0 and Flowers 7.0. But remember, overuse can cause Husband 1.0 to default to GrumpySilence 2.5, Happyhour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will create “Snoring Loudly” wave files. DO NOT install MotherInLaw 1.0 or reinstall another Boyfriend program. These are not supported applications and will crash Husband 1.0. In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. Consider buying additional software to improve performance. I personally recommend HotFood 3.0 and Lingerie 5.3.

    Tech Support

    aaand, I am outta here.

How Men and Women Change the Oil

    1. Pull up to Jiffy Lube when the mileage reaches 3000 since the last oil change.

    2. Drink a cup of coffee.

    3. 15 minutes later, write a check and leave with a properly maintained vehicle.

    Money Spent:
    $20.00 Oil Change
    $1.00 Coffee
    $21.00 Total

    1. Go to auto parts store and write a check for $50 dollars for oil, filter, kitty litter, hand cleaner and scented tree.

    2. Discover that the used oil container is full. Instead of taking it back to recycle, dump in hole in back yard.

    3. Open a beer and drink it.

    4. Jack car up. Spend 30 minutes looking for jack stands.

    5. Find jack stands under kid’s pedal car.

    6. In frustration, open another beer and drink it.

    7. Place drain pan under engine.

    8. Look for 9/16 box end wrench.

    9. Give up and use crescent wrench.

    10. Unscrew drain plug.

    11. Drop drain plug in pan of hot oil; get hot oil on you in process.

    12. Clean up.

    13. Have another beer while oil is draining.

    14. Look for oil filter wrench.

    15. Give up; poke oil filter with screwdriver and twist it off.

    16. Beer.

    17. Buddy shows up; finish case with him. Finish oil change tomorrow.

    18. Next day, drag pan full of old oil out from underneath car.

    19. Throw kitty litter on oil spilled during step 18.

    20. Beer. No, drank it all yesterday.

    21. Walk to 7-11; buy beer.

    22. Install new oil filter making sure to apply thin coat of clean oil to gasket first.

    23. Dump first quart of fresh oil into engine.

    24. Remember drain plug from step 11.

    25. Hurry to find drain plug in drain pan.

    26. Hurry to replace drain plug before the whole quart of fresh oil drains onto floor.

    27. Slip with wrench and bang knuckles on frame.

    28. Bang head on floor board in reaction.

    29. Begin cussing fit.

    30. Throw wrench.

    31. Cuss for additional 10 minutes because wrench hit Miss December (1992) in the left breast.

    32. Clean up. Apply Band-Aid to knuckle.

    33. Beer.

    34. Beer.

    35. Dump in additional 4 quarts of oil.

    36. Beer.

    37. Lower car from jack stands

    38. Accidentally crush one of the jack stands

    39. Move car back to apply more kitty litter to fresh oil spilled during step 23.

    40. Test drive car

    41. Get pulled over and get arrested for driving under the influence.

    42. Car gets impounded.

    43. Make bail. Get car from impound yard.

    Money Spent:
    $50 parts
    $12 beer
$75 replacement set of jack stands; hey the colors have to match!
    $1000 Bail
    $200 Impound and towing fee
    $1337 Total

LOL. I have some male friends whom this would apply to. My car’s in great condition because I go by the date/mileage Jiffy Lube sticks on the car window and because I have no time to be messing around with a car then get stuck at night on some highway.

p.s. Your math is wrong for the woman. At Jiffy Lube, the coffee is free. The woman is indeed very smart.

….Taking issue with the timing of a presidential respite is a lazy criticism to lob, especially for members of Congress who are themselves on a five-week break. It’s not even a new line of attack — it has been used in the past across numerous presidential administrations…..

  28. August 13, 2014 at 1:20 am

….To find out if the critics’ were prescient or way off base, Kaiser Health News reporter Phil Galewitz went looking for problems. He didn’t find many. “Five months into the biggest expansion of health coverage in 50 years,” he wrote after interviewing officials from more than two dozen health centers and multi-group practices across the country, “there are few reports of patients facing major delays getting care.”

One reason the system has not been overwhelmed is that, although we might not have as many doctors as some think we should have, we do have a rapidly growing supply of mid-level medical providers — like physician assistants and nurse practitioners — who now treat many of our health problems. It probably won’t be long before most of us are treated — and treated just fine — by a well-trained professional who doesn’t have an M.D. after his or her name…..
