      df….

I believe that this is a battle for the ages…that we will always be locked in the battle for the soul of humanity….there will be victories on our part…that justice will prevail…but I think that we will always have to defend those victories…..

‘PFOOT’ IS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT…INNIQUITY…HATRED OF DIVERSITY IN PEOPLE AND CULTURES HAS UNFORTUNATELY GONE ON SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME..HOWEVER I BELIEVE THE VIOLENCE WILL REACH A POINT WHERE GOD WILL STEP IN AND ANSWER WITH JUDGMENT…FRANKLY JUDGMENT HAS ALREADY BEGUN…WE ARE IN THE DAYS OF SORROWS THE TIME BEFORE NOAH AND WHEN GOD SHUTS THE DOOR…HE SHUTS THE DOOR…..

        • August 10, 2014 at 8:21 pm

          Sue….

Watching the events of world…Witnessing what happens to a nation that turns on itself and descends into a violent spiral…I know this is cannot be the solution for America…there is no one to come to our rescue….we still have time to save the soul of America…in fact I know we do…I have not despaired of all hope for Peace and Justice…despite the assault on my community…I have faith that Justice Will Prevail…because we will work to make it so….

          #MovingForwardTogether….

Chips…head’s up! Tomorrow is donna d’s birthday:) You have one this week, too….?

    • August 10, 2014 at 7:15 pm

Think that’s correct. Remember, August is a BUSY month here at TOD…….lots of “us” with birthdays. 🙂

    • August 10, 2014 at 7:27 pm

Congrats, DF on numero uno, despite the fact the “guys” are back in town!

Chips’ BD is August 13, same as my father’s, a big-hearted Leo.

IIRC this week is the anniversary of Beau Biden’s health scare too. If not this week, then sometime this month, I think.

    • August 10, 2014 at 7:34 pm

Chips’ birthday is Wednesday. My granddaughter’s baby is due tomorrow but we all know babies come when they are ready. So perhaps she will share a birthday with either Donna or Chips,. She will be in very special company for sure.

      • August 10, 2014 at 9:04 pm

Congrats to your newest member of the family and great grand child. Yes, indeed, this baby will be in excellent company and of course one in a billion unique individual.

interesting take, but my thoughts and feelings are for the victims in this. The Palestinian people.

    • 33 derbingleguy
      August 10, 2014 at 7:18 pm

I don’t buy it. Especially given the many Palestinians who paid the price.

      • 34 Jeff
        August 10, 2014 at 7:22 pm

That’s how I feel and I’m still pissed as ever at Israel and the horrible treatment the Palestinians have gone through.

      • August 10, 2014 at 7:44 pm

derbingleguy, please never forget that Hamas could care less about the Palestinian people. It’s primary objective is the destruction of Israel and the death of Jews.

Only when Israel commits to working with Palestinians to build a secure and sustainable future for the Palestinian people will Israel be secure and Hamas eliminated.

The point of the article is that Israel, once again, underestimated their foe and in doing so actually strengthened that foe.

Had Bibi had the moral courage to accept the Palestinian ‘unity government’ earlier this year – when Hamas had reached a nadir in its support among Palestinians in Gaza (and elsewhere), he would be in a much more secure position now, than he is.

And, incidentally, several thousand Palestinians wouldn’t be dead or injured; 70+ IDF would be alive and the world wouldn’t be turning against him & Israel, including Jews throughout the world, on a scale and at a rate I’ve never witnessed before (and I’ve been following events in Israel closely since 1967). Most importantly, Bibi and Israel would not have been excoriated by the US in a manner not seen since SOS Baker slapped them hard and publicly.

        #TrustBarack

        • August 10, 2014 at 8:59 pm

BTW, Hamas and Palestinian People are two entirely separate issues. Those who conflate the two do the Palestinian People considerable harm and have done so for decades.

        • 39 derbingleguy
          August 10, 2014 at 9:07 pm

I don’t buy it. Bibi is riding high at home and that’s all he cares about. Palestinian blood on his hand? Like Ariel Sharon before him Bibi wears that like a badge of honor. I am well aware of Hamas’ contempt for the Palestinian people but saying they won after all this carnage is like saying my house is fine after it burned to the ground.

Excoriation? I wonder who excoriated whom.

          • August 10, 2014 at 9:53 pm

That’s not the point of the article, derbingleguy. The point of the article is the empowerment of Hamas – which only expands the insecurity of Israel and ensures even more Palestinians will die.

And, no US Administration has publicly chastised Bibi the way President Obama’s did this past week.

    • 41 nospin
      August 10, 2014 at 9:58 pm

I want to reiterate that my concern was always for the Palestinians. The horrific killings in Gaza was a crime against humanity. I wanted the US to stop using US tax dollars to pay for Bibi’s/Israel’s acts of violence and as a result making all of us accomplices in that crime.

Hamas is another issue entirely. For me the oppression of the people of Gaza and acts of genocide was wrong and needed to be stopped.

DF, congratulations on being first through the door. When what’s going on is such a painful question, we come here for refueling, support, venting, appreciating each other and our First Family. I trust you folks to call me out if I’m being thoughtless or selfish. We will keep pushing forward to form a more perfect union where no one’s precious child should be a target of racial hatred either from the police or vigilantes armed to the teeth.

My worry is that it will be Hillary Clinton vs Rand Paul in 2016. I was able to talk my Ron Paul supporter brother into voting for Barack Obama in 2008, but I know he would vote for Paul over Clinton and nothing could change that. I in no way want Rand Paul, but would prefer his isolationism views over Clinton’s hawkish ways. I just hope she is not our candidate.

Oh that’s so cool df! I’ve had Palladia on ALL day – not to make me happy or for mood changing but to subconsciously help the mind just process the unspeakable events the past few days. It started with a Beyonce show, then Kylie Minogue, then Ellie Gouding, then Florence and the Machine, then Sheryl Crow, Stevie Nicks, Lady Antebellum, Regina Spektor and now Rumer and then Norah Jones is up next. omg just realized all AMAZING female singers. :0 🙂

Good to see that the administration is throwing Maliki under the bus. He’s a non-starter. If he manages to hold on to “power”, it’ll be the end of Iraq.

Just got home from working. I almost didn’t even lurk today, I was so sad; have had a lump in my throat all day. What happened this week is nothing new, but somehow this time it just broke me down. I opened my laptop and the first thing I see when I click on TOD is “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye – a perfect choice Chips. The message is timeless.

Thank you to Don, Nerdy, Africa, EveinGeorgia, DesertFlower, PrettyFoot, GGail, swbluega, LL and everyone else who has shared today. Even though there is deep sadness, anger and frustration in the experiences and feelings shared today, being able to read each of them within this beautiful, safe community of TOD has uplifted me. I am so grateful for this. I am so grateful for you.

Best tweet ever! I’ve never been impressed with HRC and she def thinks she’s owed. I wish the Clintons would just go away once and for all. I’m looking forward to the crop of bright new Dem candidates in 2016. I kind of still hope Biden runs. Regardless, any Dem is better than the hot mess Hillary Clinton.

This account of what happened is likely closer to the truth than anything heard from the Police….and if this is in fact what happened, there will be HELL to pay.

    • August 10, 2014 at 9:01 pm

hf2, have very little reason to doubt that Mike Brown’s friend is telling the truth. The ludicrous story told by the police is just that, ludicrous.

I’m thinking, why would a black boy attack a police officer knowing full well that it would give the officer all the excuse to kill him. I wasn’t there, I don’t know for sure what happen, but the police explanation doesn’t sound right. Black men know the danger they face from policemen, so you are going to start a fight with them, knowing full well they will blow your brains out in a second.

    • August 10, 2014 at 9:02 pm

    August 10, 2014 at 9:02 pm

I think the police don’t realize that life has changed in real ways. No longer can they make up incidents to suit them. Too many people saw this, and a number captured it on their phones. Police do not have immunity from social media, fortunately. That may be the key to correcting their behavior. A young lady was on NBC news who had captured the incident on her phone. Her description was like this one, certainly not like the police description. They took 24 hours to make up their story.

“Police do not have immunity from social media, fortunately.”

And the same is true for any form of murderous tyrant.

It’s entirely up to each of us, to preserve and expand our capacity for quickly and accurately sharing the truth with all humanity. That is the only way we will overcome the plutocrats and their corporatist-owned media (aka propaganda instruments).

#OWNthe114th …. Humanity is at stake, nothing less.

Hopefruit, this account does sound closer to the truth. I hope the person with him is protected, and is able to get a lawyer, someone from Southern Poverty Law Center, to speak for him and his family. Where did the story about Brown stealing a candy bar come from?
