Helloooo everyone, where is everyone? Sleepy heads😀

    • August 9, 2014 at 7:50 am

I’m here. Been up since around 6:30. Must say it is wonderful to not be in pain. Went back to my PC yesterday after my PT and I decided to stop the PT and revisit what my problem “may” be. She suspected bursitis. Well, my PC did some poking around and lifted me off the table……said, “Oh yeah, that’s your bursa. I can inject that.” Steriod injection and what a difference!!!!!!!!!!!!! Evaluate in 10-14 days. He said I may have to have another shot……or more. Directed to treat that left side, the SI, etc. gently. Continue to build/strengthen my core.

When something like this happens, I always say a prayer of thanks for health insurance. Never take for granted.

      • August 9, 2014 at 7:57 am

Glad you are feeling better. I know how painful bursitis can be.

        • August 9, 2014 at 8:02 am

I still have the L4 issue and will have to deal w/that at some point. Also do believe part of my current problem is the SI joint so no wonder I’ve been in such pain…….all those issues packed together. Obviously, the main/pressing one has been the bursa. I feel so much better!!!!

How Wonderful…TN…..how wonderful…and you are so right…when i first read about so many folks who now have insurance because of the ACA…i was overwhelmed by how truly blessed we are to have Barack Obama in the WH..and that they has a fierce ally in Pelosi…..

😒it’s lonely out here in the wilderness.

Dishes are done. Laundry is hung. Time for my first cup of mint tea and to say how grateful I am for each and every TODer!

Wishing health and peace to one and all on this lovely day.

    • August 9, 2014 at 7:55 am

And the very same to you Lynn, happy Saturday!

‘Dishes are done. Laundry is hung.’

What’s this, Lynn? Are you trying to make us relaxation-focused folks feel guilty? Well it isn’t working! 😀

BTW, I’ve been meaning to tell you that I got a lo-o-ong piece of sheer curtain -$2.99 at the thrift store, and bought 8+ stakes from the $1-store as anchors, and my “garden” seems to have been undisturbed since then (well, except for the weeds that cannot take a hint, or even more rough stuff like a yank and a huge shove). Thanks a lot for the idea! I lost 8 corns to the uninvited critters before this move, but I now have one tiny new one trying to make a comeback, and lots of tomatoes that have not yet been bitten. Bottom line is that I now have a strategy that may encourage me to try again next year, something I had previously decided not to do. TY

So glad that suggestion worked for you, vc! Happy gardening!

PS. I had to do dishes. All the glasses were dirty. I had to do laundry. So were all the socks.

Thank goodness. I was afraid The Time Out Corner was in my future, vc. Have a lovely day. Now I’m off to do barn chores because horses insist on clean stalls and they don’t do shovels or rakes, and wheelbarrows are for jumping over. Can’t wait ’til their mom gets home from vacation.

Lynn, you won’t agree with me, of course, but barn chores would be a major Time Out Corner to my mind! Have fun with the horses!

And the very same to you, young Lady. Although, the sky above me is inky black and rather angry looking – so, I suspect I’m going to have a lightning show any moment now. Great 🙄

            August 9, 2014 at 8:48 am

Followed by rain showers, maybe? Well, shows are meant to be appreciated, so pull up a chair – not too close, grab a glass of milk, and appreciate on behalf of our west coast buds who could use the resulting waterfest.

            • August 9, 2014 at 8:53 am

I don’t have it in me to think of our west coast buds as my sky is lighting up – too concerned about a thunder bolt landing in my ear.

Your ear? Chips, I don’t expect you to pull up your chair on the terrace or in the back/front yard!!

[/muttering/ and what do you have in or on your ears to attract lightning? sometimes you are odder* than me. ]

A court in Egypt has dissolved the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), the Muslim Brotherhood’s political wing.

The ruling will effectively prevent the banned Islamist movement from formally participating in parliamentary elections expected later this year.

The government declared the Brotherhood a terrorist group in December.

It was accused of orchestrating a wave of violence to destabilise the country after the military overthrew President Mohammed Morsi in July 2013.

The Brotherhood has denied any connection to the jihadist militants based in the Sinai Peninsula who have killed hundreds of security personnel.

        • August 9, 2014 at 8:58 am

😆 As we always say Dotster, sites like that and The Onion have had a hard time the last few years trying to out-do the real-Tea-Party thing. Reminds me of SNL using the half-termer’s exact words in a sketch – funniest thing ever.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Raghuram Rajan says global markets are at risk of a “crash” should investors start bailing out of risky assets created by the loose monetary policies of developed economies.

The comments, carried in an interview with Central Banking Journal, reiterate Rajan’s previous warnings that emerging markets were especially vulnerable to big shifts in capital flows brought on by the unprecedented monetary accommodation in rich nations.

The former chief economist at the International Monetary Fund compared the current global markets to the 1930s – a period marked by the Great Depression.

Rajan said back then countries were engaged in a period of competitive devaluation, in a similar way to central banks now being engaged in ever more accommodative policies.

“We are taking a greater chance of having another crash at a time when the world is less capable of bearing the cost,” Rajan said in an interview on the journal’s website dated Wednesday.

I would take his warning seriously. He is a brilliant economist.

Very best wishes to the First Family on a supremely wonderful vacation. No one deserves it more than they.

And while we’re on the subject, keep this in mind when you hear the RWNJs go insane over this.

George W Bush took 149 trips to Camp David for a total of 487 days.

George W Bush 77 trips to his home in Crawford, TX – 9 trips his first year in office – for a total of 490 days.

That’s 977 days on vacation out of 2280 days in office.

George W Bush was on vacation 2.67 years or 42.85% of the time he held the Office of President.

George W Bush also holds the record for the longest modern presidential vacation for his five-week recess in 2005 in Crawford, TX.

    • August 9, 2014 at 9:11 am

Sorry, there’s an error: the percentage of time on vacation is 33.5% if we go by years.

      August 9, 2014 at 9:33 am

But yet these stupid ass racists right wing haters can complain about President Obama and his family taking vacations. I guess G.W. Bush and his family vacations were free, they didn’t cost us taxpayers anything.

      • August 9, 2014 at 9:37 am

They actually calculated the cost of W’s vacations differently than the way they do PBO’s. OF COURSE.
They never added the total cost of everything for W but when tallying PBO’s vacation, they total travel, accommodations, staff, security, press travel, etc.

Morning, Ms Meta! Am feeling somewhat hungry and can’t think what to eat (house is bare) – any breakfast baking to share?

      • August 9, 2014 at 9:51 am

        Good morning, vc!

Lots of very delicious brunch things:

Two lemon blueberry rolls and a marble spice cake, please.

What’s your GUARANTEED delivery time? I’m drooling (and I’m not generally a pastry person)!!!

          • August 9, 2014 at 10:02 am

I can be there in 20 minutes but you’d better have excellent coffee or Earl Grey tea.

              August 9, 2014 at 10:18 am

(just double-checked) 😦 No coffee or Earl Grey in the cupboards! Could I substitute fresh mint – pleeeeeeeease? I’d go outside (great sacrifice on my part) and pick a sprig a minute before your arrival to ensure its freshness. Pleeeeease! I’m hungry and that marble cake looks tempting! /I need one of those Chips pics of a dog with beseeching eyes right here!!!/

              • August 9, 2014 at 10:25 am

So a cross-country flight and non hot delicious beverage? GEEZE.

Of course, Chips may be closer to you and I hear she makes a mean breakfast.

I’ll pass, thanks you very much, Meta! Will settle for drinking some real mint tea – which will be hot and delicious – and a slice of imagined marble cake.

                  /snark/ Thanks ‘friend’! Huh!

          • August 9, 2014 at 10:03 am

BTW, everybody says they’re not a pastry person. Even our beloved POTUS, who has certainly been caught red-handed many a time, i.e., PIE, ICE CREAM, COOKIES.

As we often remark here, Pres. Obama has made excellent choices in the members of his administration. I never really had a side eye on Dept of Interior until he chose Sec. Sally Jewel. She sure is an active Secretary. Did you know her department was also involved in the Africa (Young) Leaders outreach? Watching this week’s @Interior review made me think of Sec. Kerry. Check it out.
