Watching C-Span people are just awful no matter what POTUS does he can’t do anything right or not fast enough. A lot of anger.

Morning Roberta! Let them nurse their anger; it will take care of them soon enough!

      • August 8, 2014 at 8:06 am

That’s right vc. Their anger is a sign that they are losing and they know it. They are becoming unhinged but it will destroy THEM, and not PBO! 🙂

I wasn’t SLOW! I was right there trying to do a good deed and waking you up – see if I ever try to help *you* again! If I remember correctly I was one of those trying to budge you the OBL night, and little success did I have. /brushing hands together/ Last time I try!

A very ‘Good Friday Morning/Evening’ to all who were NOT hiding in the village when I arrived!
May your day be visited by sunshine, or rain, whichever you need most.

This is why I’m so disgusted with everything. An entire state’s uninsured rate is cut in half and motherfuckers act like that shit happens every goddamn day. This is national healthcare; fuck that one payer bullshit that all the goddamn hipsters rave about. And the man that delivered national care, he’s ridiculed by those that should know better.

      Oh…where are the polls?

Btw…Africa did you see the article which showed how the polling samples are grossly manipulated to get the “Obama at all time low of 40%?” How one of the polling outfits sampled twice as many people who identified as conservative vs liberal? Yes, it’s all hidden deep down in the crosstabs….and most people don’t know to look at those details. And the dishonest media won’t tell them either…

I hope the people who keep saying that this WH has a “messaging” problem were able to see for themselves last night what happens in the media when the President gets out there and speaks directly to the American people. PBO could not have been clearer in what he had done, and yet…right away the media attempted to muddle and confuse.

I know the media loves to distort, but last night they were taking it on to an entirely new level. For what? Just because they were mad he didn’t authorize a brand new ground war? So-called seasoned journalists pretending they didn’t hear what he said just so that they could push their own silly narratives about the “pentagon lying.” So-called seasoned journalists tweeting bullshit that bore no relevance to the crisis at hand (yes I’m looking at you CROWLEY of Time magazine). Journalists with damn near zero historical perspective and very little nuanced knowledge of the US presidency making silly comments about Obama said “folks.” Thank goodness there were many people pushing back on their nonsense – and I’m telling you weren’t it for the immediate push-back that Twitter folks employ with this media, they would have gotten away with a lot more crap.

If only John Kerry had the benefit of a Twitter brigade when he ran for President in 2004…

    • 94 Nena20409
      August 8, 2014 at 11:56 am

Just to add that when I complain about messaging…….I am talking about the whole apparatus….a war-room like messaging Team…..DNC, Supporters alike going to bat for the causes Pres Obama is championing. He needs backers who will stand by him and fight by him. Pres Obama does extremely well when he’s out there making a case. Nobody does it better. But to contain the naysayers and those with the severest case of ODS and the Media…..this president needs more than a handful at his corner.

Raise your hand if you would like to be POTUS. Ay. I have such empathy for President Obama. There has been such a constant eruption of crises that require attention and big decisions. Every time I think there may be a peaceful lull, 1/2 day later there’s another huge issue. No time to breathe. I remember early on PBO humorously saying he knew he would have to deal with a big financial mess but never expected to have to deal with pirates. Pirates seem like childs’ play now. And to be under microscopic scrutiny 24/7, always criticized by a segment of the population, no matter what—–I just can’t imagine this. And yet, PBO seems to carry on with honor, trying to make the best possible decisions with all these highly complicated events. I give him all the credit in the world. A lesser man would have crumpled.

    • August 8, 2014 at 9:26 am

Wanting to be POTUS probably includes a relatively small number in that pool anyway; and within that pool, an even smaller number of QUALITY individuals.

When you see what candidates go through during the campaign, and especially seeing the abuse President Obama has had to endure above the strain directly related to the job, it’s a wonder anyone of good character and intellect would ever want to run for ANY office.

      • 102 Obama Grandmama
        August 8, 2014 at 1:53 pm

My thoughts on being POTUS are that once upon a time every parent would have been wishing their child to be POTUS. Now I wonder if any would want their child to have the stress, constant criticism and pressure involved with the present job requirements and lack of respect shown?

Very OT, but may I share?

If my boss likes something, that means he doesn’t yell. If he REALLY likes something he says nothing. (You really don’t want to know what he’s like when he’s unhappy).

So I emailed something I was working on while he’s yachting with his family in St. Tropez (!) and he sent me two emails:

    First email: “I love it.”

The second email: “Don’t cut anything. Don’t touch a word. It’s perfect.”

I have officially entered the Twilight Zone…….

    • August 8, 2014 at 9:24 am

      • 121 57andfemale
        August 8, 2014 at 9:33 am

here’s the thing: I always do a job well done. He is a certifiable maniac – getting him to understand what is a ‘job well done’ is an effing miracle.

He had turned this part of the job over to people he liked but who didn’t know the subject matter. On this portion, he came back to the ‘expert’, and frankly I say that will all humility. Methinks we have a lot of rewriting to do……..

  30. 122 japa21
    August 8, 2014 at 9:24 am

GM all. As so many of us already realize, we are quite lucky we have the President and CIC we have. I consider myself somewhat intelligent and able to analyze things, but I definitely don’t have what it would take to be President (although I would do a better job than any GOPer).

We talk about all the qualities PBO brings to the table, but I think the absolutely most important one is courage. He isn’t sending troops into Iraq not because the American people are tired of war, though they are, but because he knows it would be the wrong thing to do.

I truly believe that if he felt it was necessary in the long term for us to have boots on the ground, he would send them there. It would be reluctantly, but he would do it. He would get screamed at by everyone, including me for doing so. But he has the courage to do what he absolutely feels is the right thing to do.

Not too many Presidents in the past have had that (some have, not saying he is the only one). In this sense, Ezra is right, he has broken politics as we know it. Not everything he has done is based upon the politics involved. And that is a good thing.

I remember when he said good policy is also good politics. And that is his priority, policy first, politics second. This is the thing the pundits just don’t get.
