With Congress gone for 5 weeks MSNBC has a HUGE challenge.
How are they going to fill their 24/7 Today With the GOP Network? Maybe home visits to GOP congressmembers to report on GOP Homecooking or Teabaggers Home decor? Favorite GOP pets? RightWing lawn grooming hints/

I’d like MSNBC to point its cameras at hospitals that are staying open and treating people—thank you, ACA.
I’d like MSNBC to travel to the Jeep plant adding 1,000 workers. You know, the one that Mitt said was closing. And so on.

There are thousands of worthy stories if MSNBC was a news network. Obviously, they are something other than a news network.

Yeah, I was just going to say that Matthews of all people never has any good advice. PBO knows not to get involved in such mess – he has his eyes on the Prize.

      • August 5, 2014 at 8:10 pm

PBO won’t get in this ridiculous pissing match with the GOP. Let the voters be the judge who stays and who goes. PBO was overwhelming voted back into office while the GOP has done NOTHING for the past four years. If people don’t get off their butts and vote shame on all of us.

I wonder whether the MSM’s “Ebola” hysteria is related in part to this summit….

    • August 5, 2014 at 7:22 pm

No this a Summit about the countries of Africa securing mutual partnerships with US businesses. Charlie arose moderating a panel this afternoon tried that Ebola-is-all-Africa bullshit and the African Presidents on the panel put him immediately in his place. Africa has 10 of fastest 15 growing global economies.

Zizi I think you misunderstood my post. I know what this summit is about. I was referring to the media’s manufactured hysteria about the Ebola virus in the days leading up to the summit.

And am I wrong to not be thrilled to see the president of Nigeria there, Goodluck Jonathan? From EVERYTHING I read, that govt. there is as corrupt as can be. And where are the girls? I heard Thom Hartmann the other day comment on the senselessness that U.S. gives Nigeria over $800 million in aid and only $100 million to aid our troubled Detroit. (numbers may not be exact, as I remember them)

    • 71 hopefruit2
      August 5, 2014 at 8:00 pm

The monies that go towards foreign aid do not in anyway pre-empt the monies are used for domestic purpose. If Detroit is not getting the aid it needs, don’t blame Nigeria. Blame the federal (meaning the congressional Republicans) state, city and other elected officials who control the purse strings and cash flow in and out of impoverished areas like Detroit.

If Hartmann wants to talk about the corruption in Nigeria – he can address that as a separate issue, but don’t conflate the two things.

      • 72 0388jojothecat
        August 5, 2014 at 9:39 pm

Thank you hf on explaining the differences. I know Thom Hartmann thinks he’s smarter than PBO but he is NOT. Since 2009 TH has been predicting the stock market will crash and even wrote a book about it. I guess one day it will crash but it won’t be under PBO. I really hate listening to progressive radio after Stephanie Miller in the morning. I am so angry at Randi for throwing in the towel. The others are waiting until Hillary announces….their great white hopetress….to save them from.

    • August 5, 2014 at 8:49 pm

See short video (about 3.5 minutes) above for clips of speech our @VP yesterday where he hits corruption head on, saying that the US can help develop means to identify corruption.

Wonder what Sarah Palin thinks of all these presidents of the “country” of Africa??? She is not the only ignorant one. Evidently Charlie Rose showed his ignorance today too. I was glad to see the President of the Cape Verde Islands and his wife. People need to know that Africa is so much more than they ever think of. It is not a homogeneous continent, even though Americans tend to think of it all in one lump.
PBO is doing his best to open the eyes of Americans in so many ways. This is another long term plan…..sow seeds for the future.

And I would also challenge Ms. Rozen to consider the role of AIPPAC and where it fits into this equation, because it’s a bit unfair to put the burden solely on US Dems/women/young while giving AIPPAC a complete pass as if it doesn’t exist.

AIPPAC has practically the same lobbying power and influence as the NRA. Public opinion won’t make a significant difference in a hurry unless that lobby is annihilated somehow….

      But…maybe over time, let’s hope..let’s hope.

      • August 5, 2014 at 8:56 pm

Dear hf2, she is commenting on a poll that demonstrates a significant decline in support for Israel, precipitated by their actions during the past 4 weeks, among US Dems, ‘young’ Americans and American women. It has nothing to do with AIPAC apart from the fact that AIPAC is one of the reasons most Americans are clueless to the travesties of Netanyahu, Likud and other extremist Israelis.

The other point she makes is crucial – we all DESPISE Hamas because they have exploited the Palestinian people and have done so in a way that has only enabled Bibi systematically to deny them their rights and their land.

Hope this helps. I have no argument with your assessment of AIPAC, btw. I consider AIPAC to be nothing more than a lobbying branch of the Military Industrial Complex and, ironically, one of the many endeavors that ensures ordinary Israelis (Jews and Arabs) will never have peace.

          August 5, 2014 at 9:25 pm

Thanks for the clarification Bob, and I agree her points are valid. However, my overall concern with this whole I/P conflict, as it’s being received in the US now is that the shift in opinion towards Israel among these key groups will not hurt Bibi/Israel or the GOP – it will hurt the President and the Dems who appear to support Israel by virtue of their funding Israel’s military operations. Again, I may be completely off base in my assessment – but with AIPAC and the US media in cahoots, I’m not sure.

    • August 5, 2014 at 8:23 pm

I agree….being publicly chastised by the US state department. and other governments…..world wide protests…are what brought Israel to the ceasefire talks

Infuriating to the max to see “Obama’s approvals take a beating” headlines on all NBC news outlets, thanks to another Chuck Todd highly suspect poll. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a president polled as regularly and as frequently as PBO—–you would think he was running for a 3rd term. And I continue to believe you can get the poll results you seek by the framing of the questions—–in addition to demographic issues etc.

    • August 5, 2014 at 8:23 pm

Well, he knows republicans are at all time lows. What’s happening is, the republicans are sullying Washington.
Everybody gets low numbers bc of it, but the GOP still gets elected with record low approvals(according to Fuck Todd)!

      August 5, 2014 at 8:28 pm

Obama’s approvals take a beating only in the manufactured polls sponsored by the corporate media and their cronies. Anyone who witnessed the outpouring of support and well-wishes on his birthday yesterday would know that these polling data are B.S. These polls are meaningless and as you said, are taken so frequently, that the agenda of the pollsters and media reporting those polls MUST be called into question….

    Counterintelligence Center (CIC)

The CIC protects CIA operations from being compromised by foreign adversaries. To do this, CIC analyzes the capabilities, intentions and activities of foreign intelligence services. CIC officers advise the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency and other Agency components on counterintelligence (CI) and counterespionage objectives, strategies and resources. They also foster CI awareness and expertise among Agency officers and provide advice on operational security.
