Danny, I’m shocked! You weren’t a volunteer for Dogs Against Romney? No, heaven forbid, if Mitt had won your mom would have been too depressed to leave the house, simply rocking back and forth, hugging herself, lamenting, “Why, why, why?” (at least that’s what I would be doing) >^..^<

Er, Madame Soph – our Danny O’ isn’t quite one years old, so he’s innocent of being a political player! I believe he’s just stating a fact – if ronmee had won, there surely would be more woks – even if he doesn’t like wok cooking! l

I hope the Jon Karls, Chuck Todds and Chris Cillizza’s of the media witnessed firsthand the outpouring of love and good-will towards our President on his birthday – not only in the US, but from just about every corner of the world — despite the constant 24/7 negative venom spewed by them and their colleagues in the GOP, Libertarian Left, and corporate factions.

      Don’t hold your breath.

They’re in their own echo-chamber, self-referential DC beltway, nothing matters but what they think.

This is why they are unable to see their own bigotry.

I checked out this from the last thread. Hadn’t seen the first pitch at All Star game video before — at the end they showed PBO’s reaction that he pretty much threw a strike.

I don’t know how it’s possible to not be charmed by PBO as a person when you see him call Kanye West a jackass or deliver a zinger to Zach Galifinakis.

MSM is in denial when it comes to PBO’s charm, but future generations won’t be — if they do historical research their jaws will drop when they see how this President was treated by the smug MSM (a unanimous voice predicting how troubled this Administration was over scandalabra — all of which were manufactured and ginned up by the media, not even close to being scandalous.

So, update on the missus’ new job:

She went to the agency today and filled out all the paperwork. She had a copy of her TB test, so that’s taken care of. Just needs to have her doctor do a physical, and pass the background check, and she’s official. Her little girl is undergoing chemo in the hospital, so as soon as she gets out Missus LL starts caring for her.

The interview with The Economist that was frontpaged here yesterday, courtesy of #TheMagicalEarth, is really worth your time. It’s a daunting 40-some minutes, which is a long time to devote to an audio interview, and starts with Africa, but continues on subjects ranging from NATO’s security role in Africa to Congressional obstruction to putting business leaders in their place when they whine about “uncertainty” and “regulation.”

All the while PBO is steadfastly consistent, not saying anything that is new because he speaks of his core beliefs, which is that we live in a multi-national globally connected world. He admitted that US corporations took advantage of Europe after the Marshall Plan. He spoke of the north/south divide (i.e., US and Europe attitudes toward Africa, India and Latin America.

To my ear, it sounded like interviewers (The Economist’s Editor-In-Chief and their Foreign Editor) were pretty much in awe of PBO, but were able to joke and laugh heartily with him.

Here’s a sampling (sorry, ran out of room to credit TME).
The interview “ended with a lengthy riposte to those, including The Economist, who have criticised the White House for its treatment of business. Mr Obama was unusually relaxed and contemplative, buoyed by the recent economic numbers and looking towards his legacy as well as the mid-term elections and his wrangles with Congress.”

Just looking at @Latimes home page and one of the lead stories is that a Colorado man was arrested because a 5-year-old shot a 3-year-old. I didn’t click on the article.

Also upsetting is the murder-suicide of 5 family members in Culpeper VA — my cousin and his family lives there.

    • 75 arapaho415
      August 4, 2014 at 10:48 pm

Oh, the next article is that someone was shot on the Riverside Fwy in a road rage incident.

I wish Americans could focus long enough on one thing to be worried about, and that one thing should be all the senseless deaths from guns, not ebola in America, which is such a longshot, but gunshot deaths are not (sorry, Jovie).

    • 76 MightyPamela

My stepmother was from Culpeper, VA. She will be glad she’s in heaven with this ‘news’. Watching national and local news the past week with my client, what is it with the scare and tear? 3 decent stories, 25 shitty, abomonable hate-filled stories, celebrated as if the darkness is all that matters. I mean, seriously, if this is what people are willingly fed, day after day, night after night, and they are not smart enough to TURN OFF their television, well, Hope means nothing anymore. I pray for them all, my heart aches for all forms of life on this exquisitely beautiful planet.

If Bobfr is here: it looks like Russia is getting ready to launch an offensive into eastern Ukraine.

Have global opinion and Western sanctions not deterred Putin from continue to reclaim territory that was part of the Russian Empire a century ago?

Does Putin consider the slaughter of innocents onboard MH17 just an inconvenience that won’t do anything to stop him from this goal?

It makes no sense to me.

Worth the time to read every word of this diary.

“The hum of drones has returned, I can hear them hovering over our heads, choosing their next prey. Itโ€™s very hot. Jaffa is crying. My mother-in-law warns the kids not to touch her blessed plants. I write an essay that starts with the words โ€œWe are O.K. in Gaza.โ€ But itโ€™s a lie, we are never O.K. Nonetheless, hope is what you have even at the worst of times. It is the only thing that canโ€™t be stripped from you. The moment you give it up you lose the most precious thing that nature and your humanity have endowed you with. Hope is your only weapon.”

The photo of President Obama as he rises from signing the ‘iron dome’ legislation speaks volumes. That he refused to have any video or #NEWSTAINERS present, and only allowed photographic ‘journalists’ to record the event is a very loud statement that only a dunce would fail to grok the significance.

For peace in the Middle East to have any hope of emerging, one thing is for certain, we absolutely MUST take control of the House and expand control of the Senate on 4 Nov 14.

#OWNthe114th …. your life and humanity is in the balance.

    good night TOD
